The colours are great - a really nice oil pastel set. Thank you for watching and commenting 🙏💜
Another fab video, shared in such a natural way
Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment. 🙏💜
Excellent demonstration....thankyou.Just subscribed.
Many thanks Kathy - I am so pleased you enjoyed the demonstration. 🙏💜
I would like to try oil pastels soon in my art too. I love this effect they create. Thank you for great video😊
Thank you Joanna - they are worth trying. It’s always to good to test out new mediums. I really enjoy using soft pastels. 🙏💜
Love oil pastels...the Mungyo Gallery Soft Oil Pastels are my favorite to work with..and reasonably priced
Thank you for watching and leaving a comment. I’ve seen artists use the Mungyo soft oil pastels, thank you for the recommendation. 🙏💜
You make it seem so easy! I’m so excited about this lesson so I’m going to do the mushrooms and see how I go! 😊
Hi Elizabeth - You can do it! I am so pleased you are inspired to do the mushrooms. I found my reference photo on Pixabay (I think). Let me know how you get on. 🙏😊
Ooooo. A new thing! I love how the colours blend in those mushrooms and how you can see the texture of the paper underneath at the base. I’ve used spray fixative on chalk pastels so worth a try I reckon. Greaseproof would work too, like in a traditional photo album. Lovely natural video 👍🏻.
Thank you for watching and commenting. I think you would love trying out these oil pastels. Sandi Hester mentioned using a hairspray as a fixative (small can in the bag). 💜🙏
Excellent video 💕💕
Thank you, so pleased you found my channel. 🥰
This is so good 💜
Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment. Glad you liked it. ☺
You can spray a fixative over your page when ur finished and it seals them completely.
Thank you, that’s exactly what I do. I use the Winsor & Newton Fixative but go outside to do it. 🙏💜
I love your mushroom drawing. You layered and blended the colours beautifully. When you use the special oil pastel paper, do you still need to spray it with something or do the pastels not smudge off? Cheers.
Thanks for sharing all that information. It's all very helpful.
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. I’ve found that whatever paper I use I still need to seal the oil pastels. I found a sketchbook by art gecko which is great for practicing or a cheaper pastel paper by Talens. After watching another artist @sandihester, I think…I am now trying out hairspray. The more expensive option is the Winsor and Newton or Sennelier spray. Hope this is useful. 🙏💜
@Purpleladybirdart Thanks, that's all very helpful. Hairspray sounds interesting. Cheers!
Spray with a fixative after, no smudging. U can even use hairspray.
I use Winsor & Newton Fixative and hairspray which is a cheaper option. 😊 Thank you for your tip. 🙏
Are these pastels soft enough to be blend by fingers or is it rough
Hi there, yes, they are soft enough to blend with your fingers.
MONT MARТ EXCELLENT OIL PASTEL. it is very pigmented, rich and thick. layers perfectly. WORKS PERFECTLY IN DIFFERENT TECHNIQUES, especially in the technique of thick textured strokes. VERY EASY TO WORK FOR PORTRAITS AND SMOOTH JOINTS. MIXES PERFECTLY. WHO LOVES HARD SICK LET PENTEL VAN GOGH OR PANDA WORK.
Thanks for sharing 🙏
Oh, I absolutely love these! If this is your first time using oil pastels, you may be very disappointed in any other brand that you try :-) I know they’re supposed to be just student grade, but the texture of them is so delightful that it puts the others to shame. I have expensive brands and cheap brands and mid range and all of them are either too stiff and crumbly or very, very sticky, greasy and extremely creamy. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. But I much prefer this brand you’re trying out today! They are nice middle between all those other textures that I mentioned. And the colors are really nice too :-) I’ve been playing with these every day since I got them and I’m afraid I might not want to use any of my other pastels anymore! Lol
Thank you for your detailed comment. 🙏 It was the first time I have used soft oil pastels and the first brand I have tried. I have nothing to compare them with, but I love them and you are so right with your evaluation. 🤗
Mont marte make an oil pastel pad now that works well with these pastels which are softer than the Mungyo soft pastel
The muted tone set is worth checking out as well
Ooooo, thank you for sharing - I will have a look. 🙏💜
Can you help me which one is better mungyo gallery oil pastels or mont marte extra soft oil pastels
Hi there - I’ve never used the Mungyo oil pastels so cannot advise. However, I love the Mont Marte extra soft oil pastels and can recommend. 🙏
Hi, I've got Mungyo soft oil pastel (set of 48), and it seems to me, when I'm looking at this video, that they behave quite the same way as Mont Marte do....
I find them (the Gallery) to be a bit too soft for my taste, even in spring time 😀because as I've used harder (and cheaper) pastels for years, I struggle to have the color stay in place when I paint with the Gallery soft. This being said, they are not as soft as the Sennelier I tried a few days ago, but to me they tend to that direction. They are not slippery or greasy or oily like the Paul Rubens (old version), you don't use a palette knife to paint with them...
If you like creamy pastels that blend and layer well, you'll love them, and there are many videos on youtube to get some advices on them.
@@piafou63 Thank you for your advice Pia. I’ve never used a palette knife so will look into this. I’ve only used the MM soft oil pastels and love them, although others have recommended the Mungyo. However, like you I do find them very soft and greasy if I layer them too much. Thank you for watching. 🙏
@@Purpleladybirdart Thank you. the Mungyo aren't greasy, but I find them buttery. I guess it's just a matter of time, I mean a lot of practice, to get some good results with them. If you decide to buy some, don't make the same mistake I did ! There are 2 kind of Mungyo pastels, and the "student" grade is absolutely horrid. Be sure to buy the ones with the dark grey box, aka SOFT oil pastels. Because the bad ones, which are far cheaper, are named "Gallery" too ! A lady on youtube, whose nickname is Syndia Art, made a good and short review of both, if you want to see a comparison..🙂
@@piafou63 Thank you Pia 🙏
I bought a special color set of these and loved them- then wanted regular colors and bought their "signature" set. They were NOT as soft. I do not like them. So warning to people, make sure they say extra soft!
Oh that’s good to know, thank you for sharing. 🙏💜
Thank for the warning. I was just about to make this mistake. I am a beginner and already falling in love with oil pastels (budget, value).
@@63viet Thanks for watching 🙏 I still love these soft oil pastels and great for having fun and practising in my sketchbook.
@@63viet to be fair- I'm also new and heard that having a hard set and a soft set is good because you 'underpaint' with the harder set and go over with the soft set. I'm still practicing but I do love the extra soft.
Mungyo rebranded as Mont Marte
Thank you for sharing - I did not know that. People seem to love the Mungyo brand so it’s a win win. 🙏
I have both of those brands, and they are very very different in texture. If they are rebranded by the same company, they are worlds apart, as far as experience that you get when you use them… mont marte is so much smoother and creamier and has a lot less crumbs which I find annoying because they smear all over the paper when you try to brush them away. That’s one of my biggest issues with the. Mmungyo oil pastels. Really loving the. Mont marte:-)
The sound was sooooo low I couldnt hear you. 😢
Hi, I’m sorry to hear that. It seems fine this end but thanks for letting me know. 🙏
