  • Antonio Oposa Jr. LL.M. ’97 reflects on his legacy and efforts to bring environmental sustainability to the Philippines. His landmark lawsuit, Minors Oposa v Factoran, established that future generations could be protected by the court, and ultimately resulted in a logging ban for virgin forests throughout the Philippines. Oposa has dedicated his more recent efforts to activism and environmental education. On Earth Day 2018, Oposa is reopening SEA CAMP, an experiential learning center for marine ecology and sustainable living, on the shores of Bantayan Island on the Visayan Sea.

What an inspiring life story to be told in the generations to come. More and more people who genuinely love nature should go into legislation, the Judiciary, the executive department, and more importantly, into the legal profession.

"It landed on the table because they chose BY RAFFLE" because cases are assigned to judges by chance or randomly, in the hope that the decision is impartial.

We can all save the environment by just taking care of what we have.

I just came from your Climate Crisis(not Change) seminar. Our subdivision is already implementing waste segregation even before I attended. I'm curious on how to gather enough confidence and willpower to get 50 signatures from strangers to help encourage the food/water garden. I live in a subdivision that is higher in altitude and has no flood problem so I cannot persuade people by example. But the lower parts of the community can be helped. We used to live in the lower parts and relocated due to flood.
