The real villain is Raj Babbar. He is an evil and hypocritical man. He convinced Smita Patil he would marry her but he kept postponing it and Smita felt ashamed before her son and parents. It hurt her mind so much, she got a brain stroke and died.
Even the son Prateik Babbar stopped using his father's surname for a while, showing he has inherited the hurt too.

Don't you understand a Hindu man cannot re-marry unless he divorces his first wife? Smita was deeply hurt and for many years Prateik Babbar did not even use the surname Babbar. Smita stopped getting roles for some time and felt deeply ashamed about her fake marriage.

I was lucky to have an opportunity to meet pratik in Goa during a a shooting rehearsal.My son was born same time in America and I regret now that I shared my personal life with him.Its unfortunate that poor guy was deprived of true parental love.Hopefully luck will turn around and success will kiss his feet.Stay blessed pratik,my son.
