  • #Dubai has absolutely hundreds of fantastic places to eat on a budget - in fact, some of the very best #restaurants in Dubai serve up brilliant cheap eats. While the city may have a reputation for the expensive and the always-new, Time Out’s new #LocalLegends series will take you inside some of Dubai’s longest-standing and most affordable restaurants - the kind of places every resident should try at least once, and every tourist should have on their list of places to eat while on holiday in Dubai.
In the first episode of the series, we’re kicking off at the award-winning, globally renowned Calicut Paragon, serving up unrivalled Keralite cuisine in the heart of Dubai’s “Curry Corridor” of Satwa, Karama and Bur Dubai.
Calicut Paragon’s menu delves into the best of south India, with plenty of meat, seafood, and vegetarian options to boot. Best part? It’s all good to eat with your hand, as it’s the preferred way by diners here. Traditions are traditions.

Sooooo.... after watching this video we decided to order from that restaurant. And let me tell you: this is absolutely NOTHING like Indian food at all. We ordered Chili chicken dry, Biryani and also butter chicken. None of them tasted even a bit like the original dishes. The Chili chicken even came with bones (I’m not sure if you eat Chili chicken with bones because I never ate this ever with bones, it was always without bones) soo the chicken of this dish were more bones than chicken. It was pretty annoying. Also the taste Is nothing like the original. The same with the butter chicken. Here the chicken came boneless but it still didn’t taste like original butter chicken. Same with biryani. The annoying part about the biryani and the Chili chicken were that there were a lot of bone splits everywhere. Seemed like it weren’t cut properly. We also ordered 2 times chapati. This was the funniest thing of all this. They literally have us two small chapatis. Usually if you order 2 chapatis you get like 2 x 3 chapatis (because of the small size) it really was a impudence. I would definitely NOT recommend to eat in this place. People who already ate the original dishes will not get at their costs here.
