Great video, thanks. Brings back memories from my childhood when i lived in Chilwell. I used to cycle that way up to Trent Lock to go fishing very often. One time I broke my arm by the Trent when cycling there. I got the owners of the white cottage near the end to ring for my dad to come and rescue me and take me to hospital. The two bridges that you went over near the end of the video are exits for the River Erewash into the Trent. The older stone bridge near the end was the original course before the gravel pits extended beyond Barton Lane in about 1965. The newer metal bridge is the current river exit. For a long time the filthy Erewash was routed south from where it goes under the railway at the sewerage farm direct to there and that became the western limit of the pits. Then in about 1973 they cut through and the now cleaner Erewash joined the gravel pits as a cross 'roads'. This allowed the Erewash to become populated with fish.
Great to see blue skies, greenery and tee shirts. Do we really have days like that? Hard to imagine as I look out at a snowy grey sky on a depressing lock down day.
What a real treat to see some gorgeous weather as well as being on the Derby/Notts/Leicestershire border. The power of the Trent is fantastic, as was the bit of 'train action' on the mainline. There's a wonderful tunnel not far from that location on the line, with a bit of zoom you could get a great shot.
You have so many lovely walks in the Nottingham area, i will get my self down there once we are allowed to travel again. The day you did this walk, I was in Portugal, i took the train down from my local station all the way to Lagos, nice little train ride to some lovely warm weather.
Fantastic as usual Ant. The area was just beaut love seeing flood water there is something about it I love, when it’s not too high of course. I thought the whole area was really beautiful. Thank you so much for taking me along. Please stay safe and take care
That sounds like a really good day. I did a similar length along the Grantham Canal in 2019 from Cotgrave to Bottesford. Thought it would never end ha ha
Funny in 1996 I walked from Grantham to Nottingham trent Bridge to train for a 150mile round trip around Notts for charity. I love walking around Nottingham's greenbelt and South of the trent. I found the crane fleet cut scary as all that water and such with me being a none swimmer and all. Canals don't bother me but the trent well, that old man river can teach you a lesson or two if you don't respect him.
What a fantastic day you had, your right about the speed of the water. How did the flood stage go after you made your video? Stay safe and stay strong.......
@@TrekkingExploration Yep, it looked like the water was just about ready to come over. I thought opening that lock might have helped but, more likely, just move the problem a wee bit. Presumably, it happens from time to time - hence the flood-plain?

Sunny, green, peace and quiet. Thank You!
Blimey Ant, a quick Tardis trip there!!!! Sun, blue skies, t shirt, just the job to brighten up the week.👍🏻👍🏻❤
Great video, Attenborough is somewhere I go to meet up with a friend to go for a short walk and a coffee.

Thanks for the video and chat. Enjoy the trip today, Ant!

Excellent as usual. We did that walk last August, really nice place.
My stomping ground .... I was moored at Sawley for 5 years and regularly moored where your vlog started!
I like this one . Relaxing, interesting, lovely sceneries. Excellent. And the intro :
That intro I've not used that for a long long time with its pre recorded music 😂
Great video as always, watched all of them, small point, Cranfleet and Trent Lock are in Derbyshire.
Thanks for another great video Ant. Well done.
Great video, nice to see some sunshine. Call me sad but the highlight for me was the East Midland HST.

A pleasant walk Ant; you got a nice day for it too. How did the water level actually behave? Did it flood right enough?
Throughout October it dropped a little before the prolonged rainfall in November 2019 that caused bad flooding
