Fun fact, if you're going to go deer hunting with your car( accidentally or otherwise), the 77 Nova works a treat. Was doing 75 on a 2 lane rd, out from a pasture he comes, locked the brakes into the opposite lane, missed the 1st one but not the 2nd. Set it 70 ft up the rd. Got out expecting the worst but it only busted the plastic grill, pushed the bottom of the hood latch vertical bracket back a half inch, and 1/4 deep and 2 inch long dimpled the leading edge of the hood on passenger side corner. Basically very little damage. Full steel frame with scaffolding pins sized tubes mounting the bumper, which is all chromed steel full width of car. Also a 3/16th steel plate 3 inches wide over the tubes the whole width. Built like a tank lol.😅
Profesor Lee's first grade chemistry class . Rust is the natural form of metal.Removing the O2 atoms give you non rusted metal but it always wants to go back to its rusted natural form .Acid strips the O2 from the rust kinda changing it back . Coating the bare metal blocks O2 from making contact and rusting . Its a big circle round and round .
I watched a paint shop called House of Pearls on their youtube channel they used phosphoric acid in a squirt bottle and scrubbed it with 3M pads to remove the old paint and rust, and after and when finished they washed with just hot water, You don't need to neutralise the phosphoric acid. It will phosphate the surface and continue to do so leavinga protective coating until it gets primed and painted over later...
Love your channel. You do great work. I like the new lights better, but it's your choice and why do the extra time to make them work. 68 Camaro lights🤣. Some people just don't get it. I'm doing a 72 Chevelle, and shit adds up real quick. New parts also means new tools and so on. Keep up the great work.
Back in the early 80s my friend had a pontiac phoenix same side windows with vinyl roof.this had the same vinyl roof but they took it off.his was gold with tan roof.peace...
You should look into how the new tail lights would look on the scoobie doo van. Might not look bad. Once the phosphoric acid sets up, wouldn’t it be faster to use a wire wheel on low speed. That way you really get the tough spots.
Lee I have a question maybe you have addressed it on other older cars and I missed it but my 1966 Chevelle has a factory place where they leaded the roof to the body I have owned this car for 45 years and it’s been painted several times but no matter what little secret sauce I put short of removing the lead I eventually get a bubble in the paint maybe year or three but same dang spot any secret sauce?
Favorite car repair channel, I like your channel Lee because you complet your projects.

Lee you can buy powder Phosphoric Acid in a box made by TSP and you just add water to it , and it's olny $21.00 for a 4-1/2 lb box...

Yup been using clean strip for years works amazing
Looks good
Thanks
Poor Little Nicky!
Sweet!
Get a decent blue and put black or silver stripes on it and it will fit right in with the rest of your collection and probably be easier to sell.
It's not meant to be a nice restored car. I want the more hot rod, unfinished look.
Damn, that fender ended up cleaning up decent by yhe hood eh, kinda suprised!
Also, what do you smoke? Are those cigarettes or cigars?
GM referred to that landau top as a "Cabriolet" roof on these cars.
Coming along nicely.
You going to put any striping decals on it to offset the matte black paint?
probably not

I don't want the acid flying around in the air breathing it in and I hate wearing masks.
had a few 'disco' novas in my time.
👍👍👍

try etching primer then 2k evercoat polyester primer over that
What’s your plan for the wheels. Would do either a flat or gloss black. Would really make chrome stand out.
it will be nice only if you cam it put it on youtube nice cam show lee
Lee,what kind of primer do you use on bare metal after you strip it?
Thanks
I'll show on next video on Monday,
👍👍👍👍👍
I looked up the SDS on Eastwood and it's 7.8% phosphoric acid and 92.2% water so ospho from Lowe's will be a higher percentage of acid
you could fund raise on patron or do merch line item
I hope your friend can hook you up with a windshield does it have a different style windshield than your other novas?
The windshield is the same so Concourse/Custom doesn't matter. I did get one, $125
Everybody has opinion the tail lights look ok but they work if you keep it or sell it maybe some one can find the lights or you might so it work now
just installed another set
Old Ford pick up truck tail lights kinda look like early nova lights.
use vinegar and cover it with plastic over night
what state u in?
Texas/Oklahoma border
you miss a spot i seen it did you need snacks and chair nice drinks then you with have it
use naval jelly or muratic acid if use floor strip it works take it of ya i cant watch i will go blind nasty
I know, I just don't like flat black
flat black sucks, anything else would be much cooler!
