They still perform to this day. My Dad, James Murphy will be sorely missed by all that loved him and enjoy the music they made. RIP James Murphy! Love Always.

    My information is that most or all of the members of The Fidelics recorded "Hit Talk" as The Exzels on Crossfire, with the flip side, "Canadian Sunset" a previously unreleased song by The Newports , a White group that recorded for Kane. Can anyone confirm or refute this information?

    • @funkadelphiarecords
      @funkadelphiarecords 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The Exzels 45 on Crossfire is a black group from Philly. I worked for producer Morris Bailey who co-produced the Exzels 45 on Crossfire. Both sides of the Crossfire 45 were on the same reel of tape recorded 8/16/63 at Virtue Studio in Philly. If you listen to both sides of the 45, it is clear that the 45 is the same group and musicians. The Newports rumor has been refuted once and for all.

    • @buckets212
      @buckets212 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@funkadelphiarecords I have listened to "Canadian Sunset," and, to my ears, there's no way its a Black group. Plus, I personally know one of the members of The Newports--Jimmy Pace--and I'm quite sure, long ago when asked, he said he recognizes the song as one of theirs. I'll have to ask him again to be certain.

    • @buckets212
      @buckets212 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@funkadelphiarecords I have received confirmation from Jimmy Pace of The Newports on Kane and Guyden, that "Canadian Sunset" was recorded by The Newports. He only became aware of the release of the record a few years ago, and has no idea who or why it was released.

    • @funkadelphiarecords
      @funkadelphiarecords 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@buckets212 My actual 45 copy of "Canadian Sunset" on the Crossfire label is the version by the Exzels. The version on You Tube, is a white group like you said. I own the the Exzels master tape and it is NOT the same version as the one on You Tube. It could be possible that some copies of the Cross Fire 45 were mis-pressed with the Newports version because Jamie Guyden distributed the 45 and could have made an error when they made a second pressing (?).

    • @buckets212
      @buckets212 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@funkadelphiarecords Very interesting. I was thinking the same thing, that there was some mixup, given that The Newports had two releases on Guyden, and the Crossfire record is distributed by Jamie/Guyden. As a long time record collector, all I can, say is if you have an actual 45 with The Exzels doing "Canadian Sunset," on Crossfire, then you have a very rare record, which, if you sold it on ebay, for example, would probably sell for quite a bit of money. Btw, is the record good?
