I certainly think Miss Arizona would have won Miss Universe also, but I have to disagree that she was prettier than Miss South Carolina. Miss South Carolina had that unusual beauty combination of eyes and smile that you just don't find every day. Absolutely beautiful!!
She's the reason why I want to watch this pageant in full. I just saw a winning reaction montage on the Miss USA yt page and I was stunned with the top 2 of the 1980 edition. And I'm glad she stepped in as Miss USA when Shawn won Universe
I've never got the hype about Shawn Weatherly... I mean... she was a cute blond with a decent performance, but that's it. Arizona was stunning and impactful , she should have won and then become MU 1980.
Cute blond? She was far more than cute! She was absolutely beautiful! And the combination of beauty, down to earth, easy going speech, and the measurements of a model, it's no wonder she won all three competitions [interview, evening gown, and swimsuit] in the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants!
