Hubert Laws never gets old, and his music is also always fresh and beautiful!

I've enjoyed it even though the sound engineering should have gone to jail for such work... But my love for Hubert Laws is stronger :D

Mongo Santamaria with Hubert Laws, and Mauricio Smith, Sr. (RIP) on flutes in the '60's. with their Afro-Cuban rhythms...
Check out "Sittin' On The Dock Of A Bay" and "Up, Up And Away" by them.
With Mongo, Hubert Laws also doubled on Tenor Saxophone - '60's; he is a product of Juilliard Music School, New York, New York.
Shout out to his teachers Julius Baker and Samuel Baron, classical virtuosos of Juilliard.
    Peace be upon them!
Even then, Hubert had already acquired his sound and and(classical) technique.
His tonal quality and technique are amazing.
If you adore Hubert Laws, the classical "Jazzician", as much as I do, you will also love:
    Mauricio Smith, Sr.
    Joe Farrell
    Eddie Daniels
    Dave Valentine
    Kent Jordan
    Gerald Beckett, among others.
    Lohvissimo!

Hubert Laws deserves an international award. The best of the best ever in composers, arrangers and players. My hero. Touched my soul since very young and got to meet H. L. and see his gold headjoint Muramatsu. Gentleman and maestro!

Ugh, the way the violin and the flute match up at 24:00 tickles my brain just the right way. And the vibrato and articulation add to the style of it so much, it's incredible. I also very much appreciate how he uses a good portion of his range on the flute while still keeping the same kind of melody and rythym and feel of it. Hubert Laws is an amazing musician ❤️

AND - the problem with that was that the Violin mix was so much over the Flute, that when she played sloppy at times it stuck out like crazy .

British Orchestras are renowned for reading newspapers as well and looking at their watches.
Yeah, it's just a job to them. Like most classical players - just well oiled machines,
and they all seem to have the same'Classical' flute sound. Impossible to tell them apart.
Profi flutist, more than 50 years.
