Zangief is only powerful if you can utilize his power. He's a specialist character that can't hide behind a projectile, he has garbage speed, and ask about his Drive Gauge use. I'm wondering why Daigo stopped using him, I'm also wondering why MenaRD picked him up (we'll see how long he sticks with him). He is fun to play if you can play him. Kobayan is just one of many pioneers who has put in the time to make him work. Gief is low-tier for sure.
If he was so good why didn't daigo stick with him? he was playing as zangief. Takes alot of practice to be able to main zangief I guess he didn't want to bother with it because it's hard to play him
At the top, the ranking is very tight. Often top players will play for extended period and grind. Then only play a handful the next day while another player grinds. Also, as you get higher master points from win diminishes while losing points are significant. You can win 5 times in a row and lose 1 game and come out negative overall.

So we thought initially that Zangief was a 2.5touch to kill Akuma, I guess that puts that theory to rest. A 2-touch KO is possible for Zangief. lol
