Idris and Jonathan is trying to keep to the topic whereas Julian’s definition of a poor petrolhead is honestly not poor at all. Julien should have suggested a Used Civic Type-R (FD2R) or even a Used Evo 9 since the annual depre is definitely within his definition of a poor petrolhead. 😅🙊🤦🏻♂️
Every time when it comes to this type of "choosing car segment", I always lean towards Idris' choice, and I can see that Jon's choice are not what the other 2 enjoy 😂😂😂
I'd suggest the used Hyundai i30 Turbo, under S$9k depreciation for a 1-year old car, with DCT and warranty. Plus, turbo cars are easily tuned to stage-1or additional 20bhp for under S$700. Besides, any true petrolhead would love the sounds BOVs and wastegates make. With down-payment of $25k and about $900 monthly.
I suggest the Mazda RX-8, used to drive one about 10 years ago. Can get one now at around 6k depre, low road tax, fun rotary engine best of all rear wheel drive!
Can you guys share your family/your own car purchase history and the rationale for the various purchases to understand your buying decisions? Thanks, Jon.
Just looking for some information. I imported a car from Singapore to Jamaica. I noticed there's a little gray box on the inside front window above the driver's staring wheel. Wondering what it's for?
Hey Dwight, I think you're referring to our In-Vehicle Unit. It's used in Singapore to read prepaid cards to pay for expressway tolls and carpark fees. - Jay
i would put golf7 TSI as one, the depre about the same as swift sport. but lower road tax with that extra power of turbo. it is also more spacious for a hatchback.
So im planning to buy a car soon, I'm a newbie in this platform but my dream car is always the evo X. The closes to it is the lancer GTS / ralliart (from what I know) what are your thoughts? Any advice 😅
Having driven for over 30 years, modding one's ride is age related. There will come an age wherein you'll prefer a more sedated and quieter set of wheels and road attention is no longer your interest.
Idris - broke petrolhead
Julian - i'm broke but my family is rich
Johnathan - i'm broke but i need a car for my family
I would change Jonathan's to: I am broke petrolhead but I asked my wife for her opinion

Only Idris on topic.

That's a very good suggestion Donald! Wish I thought of that instead of the IS250.

Good suggestion! We'll see if we can convince Julian to talk about his choices of cars.

Considering broke and petrolhead-Idris's list is the best but I have to admit that the IS is also to be considered. Bulletproof.

Idris's list got a petrol drinker in the form of WRX while Jon got a lexus and Julian got a VW.. I dun noe if they know the meaning of broke.. 😂
The perodua aruz is now avail to buy in sg,it cost less than 100k and also is rwd(except that it is new and not used)

This episode couldn't have come at a right time, Just scrap my car and thinking if i should get another since I'm working from home....
Does anyone knows what does the term "facelift version" means?
The problem with this is they didn't define "broke" in the first place.
If you're broke, please don't be a petrol head.
Budget
Perodua Myvi 1.5
Hyundai Accent 1.4
Kia Cerato 1.6
Those are not petrol head cars.
during this bad time i would prefer a BMW... Bus Mrt Walk...
interested as to why you guys refer to prices in depre/year?
Because that's what really matters. Full price in dollars have too many variables to compare with each other.

Yeah. Stop being a typical chao ah beng.
Great vid...and very nice Daytona ;)
Very nice Speedmaster too
Probably would go for a COE car 325i convertible with a depre of arnd 6 - 6.5k
thoughts on getting a 8 year old rx-8?
jonathan watch game stronk
I die every time Julian pronounces albeit as "ALBITE" HAHAHA
Shhhhh don't tell him.
- Jon
These guys never experienced Vtec ah?
My first car was a '92 civic esi.
123hp
Just over a ton
0-100 in 8.3 seconds
Can rev all the 7600rpm...
Im suprised they didnt mention the rx8 but its probably because its expensive to maintain
This is unexpectedly fking funny and I love it
What are your views on thr VW scirocco?
Xmm hunter

If I could only choose a car from those lists I would rather take the MRT or take grab/gojek
Why not just a Honda Civic...
Why Jonathan look so familiar..last time he teacher isit?😂😂😂
So no ones gonna mention the Mitsubishi Colt? Comes in with a manual as well!
What a joke for the other two. Make most sense is idris but his 3rd choice should be eg6 or ek4.
lol if only there is a 1994 toyota supra that is being sold on sgcarmart
Nice
Attarge Bezza and Note
SG way of vehicle tax is absolutely absurd,Squeezing money from buyes mercilessly
EG6
Public transport for broke petrolhead lor.😂
Toyota corolla the best
Question... Broke means?
