In my country of Trinidad we don't have buckwheat but we have Morra and Rubber which base on your description of the buckwheat can have a similar aroma. Imagine if I used buckwheat honey how the tasting notes would read. “ Spiced honey with a full bodied mouth feel and a subtle aroma of pig shit on the nose” I can see it winning awards. buckwheat honey is great but the reason that richard didn't get as much honey is bees will only work buck wheat up to 11 oclock and then you won't see them till the neat morning don't no why but if you plant it then go out and see for your self i plant it every year as a cover crop and plant at different times
Being so happy about a just a few jars makes me remember my very first honey harvest, we all - me and my family had all this fascinated glitzer in our eyes and our fingers in the "honey beam" coming out of the extractor :-)

This was the only channel I found that talks about the smell of buckwheat. I can't stand the smell of the grain, reminds of of the smell in daddy long legs. Not sure about the honey but my nose doesn't seem compatible with buckwheat. Thanks for posting this, I'll be laughing all morning!
You might as well laugh about it. Keeps the spirits up instead of complaining which wouldn't make the pail any fuller. Some people love it and others not so much it sounds like.
Well we've had some smelly honey didn't know what it was a first but since realised it's ragwort as there's quite a lot growing on the building sites around in the distance and it looks just like your honey very dark smelly and I've since found it has a nickname of smelly willy honey.
Sorry, but my first smell of buckwheat honey made be gag. It smells somewhere between molasses and funky fungus with a heavy, back-of-the-throat sensation. It tastes OK and I suppose you could get used to it. Not bad enough to throw away an expensive jar of custom honey.

I was curious about buckwheat honey, so I bought some. I realize some will hate it, but it's honestly my favorite!

It's not very tasty really. I read that it's good for you if you can get past the taste.

Thanks for advertizing the buckwheat honey. In my opinion it's the best of specific honeys (just after multiflower, which is not homogenous).
