Most tubers are all about the hottie with a body (not that Sam doesn’t have one of those, but it is not the draw). I love the reality of self rescue, and DIY repair of an imperfect vessel. That is the reality, most of us face. Very real, cuz boats are like RV’s … stuff breaks all the time. Also dig how the failures are presented in the same light as the successes. More keyboards!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘

One of my favorite videos you have done. Must have been a lot of work to edit. I really enjoy that you're in a small boat traveling the world by sea and then sharing your destinations with us on land. Wonderful geography lesson. Also, you actually sail and don't spend all your time cleaning, repairing and making your boat perfect in a slip somewhere. You are not afraid to raise the sails and and hit the sea.

This video, like his Venice one, gave me a healthy dose of anxiety. I couldn't help contemplate subjects of self-doubt and how beneficial it is as a motivator. Sam amazes me with what is seemingly an ease of confidence. Of course, that is one that is earned with experience and the knowledge that comes with it. Or maybe he's crapping his pants while cooking chicken in such seas. I hope to feel that one day. Sailing is one of those pursuits that is analogous of everything in life. I used to have a bosun's chair that I put extra lines on and a couple of hooks so I could hang it in the hatchway. The ropes allowed it to swing so my ass didn't get so sore switching angels all the time, (like a sit up hammock) and I made a webbing back so I could sit back and chill. It was actually a really comfortable spot. Hope you don't mind I noticed you over steering. When you're going down wind the boat follows a cork screw rolling pattern. From the cockpit it feels like she is going off course but she ain't. Everyone always tries to correct for that. You don't need to, be patient and watch. Every touch of the rudder is a touch of the breaks. Great video, wonderful adventure, go boy!

Another epic journey, pure Sam Holmes’! I was like uh oh spi at night but then why not. If it wasn’t for shafe it probably would have been alright. Perhaps the auto pilot taking over the vane is what ripped the sail off… Never thought that a topping lift could jump the spreaders. Nice save though! This video is a master sailing lesson, notably the “better to stove it wet than to have it rip off 😉” The ‘sharness’ idea is also brilliant, let us know how it works out. The raw Dakar segment walk really conveys these back to land and culture shock sensations. Keep on keeping on skipper but please take good care.
