I’m so so grateful for Fr. Mike! I couldn’t pinpoint exactly why I was so drawn to him, but now I see it was exactly that: DAD. He’s such a dad!! He’s simple yet wise, compassionate yet firm in his homilies/explanations. He’s the father figure I’ve always needed, especially where faith is concerned. Certainly not downplaying any other priests out there; I love all priests and I’m grateful for each one, every single one that I’ve met or come across and has provided me with comfort, knowledge, and/or a sacrament. I appreciate them so much and I thank God for them. However, Fr. Mike came to me when I most needed encouragement to keep going, to keep striving for holiness as the road grew lonely.
Thank you so, so much Fr. Mike!!
And all priests: thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for your hard work and dedication! It does not go unnoticed or unappreciated.

I agree! He’s the dad that God has made available to us to see and hear even though we live far from him- to be able to listen to his wisdom. Truly chosen by Our Lord for our ability to be educated and gain more confidence in our faith

I, too, am a priest, and I really appreciate the risk Father Schmitz articulates about the opportunities for self-indulgence the priesthood allows. Case in point: I'm sitting at my desk with the leisure on a whim to watch a 48-minute video because I can readily adjust my schedule for the rest of the day. I need to give this some prayer and meditation. Thanks for this conversation.

@@tony1685I don't have time to continue to debate with you. But I do recommend that you read the Douay Rheims version Bible. It is before secular men got a hold of it.
Also, the protestant Bible removed 7 books from the original Bible.
Not all will OR should make sense....Who is like unto God? Are we to understand everything? No! We are merely creatures.
Remember St. Thomas said he wouldn't believe unless he put his finger in Christ's wounds... Are you being like unto Thomas? To know God doesn't only apply to book read. But to know Him in your heart. Contemplative prayer will lead you to Him.

Thanks for sharing some contentious issues today in society such as homosexuality and abortion. I was a prodigal son leading a promiscuous life in college and my marriage almost fell apart. Our Blessed Mother intervened at a crucial time in my life when I went on pilgrimage to Medjugorje 14 years ago where there was no hope. She saved my marriage and I am forever grateful. I was a cradle Catholic but was lukewarm and did not know much about the Blessed Mother. Before my conversion, I went to Mass only through the motions to avoid going to hell. Today I have an immense love for our Blessed Mother and Jesus in the Holy Eucharist. I go to Mass almost daily for the ongoing conversion and graces. I like how Fr. Mike’s reaction to knowing the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. Knowing this in my heart has been very comforting during this time of pandemic.

First, I want to thank Scott Hahn for everything he's done to educate Christians and help them become more knowledgeable about their history, the bible, and traditions. I'd love to see him sit down with the top Lutheran theologian and ask him to explain why Lutherans split from the Catholic church. After that explanation is provided to then ask the theologian if he truly believes that the Lutheran church is the one true Christian church that is infallible in their interpretation of the bible. When the pastor is done, then ask the top Methodist theologian to come into the conversation and ask him why Methodists aren't Lutherans. Explain what teachings of the Lutherans weren't biblical and why the Methodist founding fathers thought it was necessary to form another Methodist denomination instead of just becoming Lutherans. Then after the Methodist is done, invite in the top Anglican theologian, then the top Assembly of God, then the top Mormon, and so on and so on. Ask each theologian to explain why some protestant denominations teach that divorce, abortion, and gay marriage are o.k., while others do not...if sola scriptoria is logical and rational.

An interview means one to one.
Why did you invite Fr. Mike bc you're (Dr. Hahn) monopolizing the conversation!

Please be a little kinder and don't parse definitions of "interview." There is much to be learned from both of these great servants.

Everything in this world eats everything else so what comes from the Earth goes back into the Earth meaning that in the garden of Eden when he was created, and they both died, they went back into the ground and then the animals came out and ate the new growth that came into the next season so the circle of life is on the planet in the globe. Everything in this world gets regenerated through growth and rebirth through the animals grazing on the dead people that grow from plants and having babies in the spring time the spring lambs

It is so good to hear these magnificent men dialogue, however it is so distracting to hear Scott Hahn “insert” comments on his family members (children) constantly. He can share what he sees, experiences through relationships with people, but it would be so much easier for his listeners to absorb and ponder without that distraction.
