I hate paying extra fees so yes I’ve learned to do the norbit gambit or.. I have also got my bank to convert & then funded from the USA account direct to Questrade! Thanks for all your great videos
I bought the ticket for the Montreal event. I can't wait to see you in person. Your channel helped me out kickstart my investing journey (among others too).
I just convert my CAD to USD during favourable exchange rates, say near 80 cents, and hold it in a USD account, to buy the US Stocks directly. The CDR's have a massive bid ask spread.
Wealthsimple charges a 1.5% conversion fee if you want to trade US securities directly, but if you're buying a CAD hedged version instead, you avoid the fee (but the MER is higher).
Excellent breakdown on conversation methods. Would you be able to give us an understanding of how tax implications for US investments impact Canadian investors? Thanks
Awesome video Brandon, I learned some new stuff in here. CDRs and direct USD accounts are something I’ll look into further as I will eventually max out my tax advantages accounts by next year. See you in next video 😉
I happened to have few thousand US dollars in cash that I been holding forever!! I’ll deposit that to my TD account and then buy the US stocks I want without paying fees. Thank you!!
I have a USD Bank account and USD TFSA account in TD. Can I not directly add my USD money to my USD TFSA? I can't see the option in my app. are there brokers here in canada where I can directly add my USD amount and then use that USD amount to by US based stocks and ETF's
I like CDR I buy nvda with over 1000 doller stock I payed 98.50 but went up after I buy stock I own wall mart two share I have Visa Mastercard I did own amzn McDonald but I sell them to buy nvada I'm happy with CDR because I do not have pay 1000 3000 on same stock pay same I do not have much money so CDR work four me I all so have TFSA tax free account I my buy few more stock litter on lol I can use money I make frome nvda buy more stock soon my stock with pay four it self
Really interesting in attending the Toronto Social, but not sure where it is being held. The Greater Toronto Area is huge and I don't want to buy a ticket just to find out that it would be really difficult to get there. Are tickets refundable? Are there going to be seats and tables or will you guys be standing and talking around the room. I ask this question because I'm disabled and can't stand for 5 hours. Hope to see you guys.
That’s totally understandable!!! Yes the tickets would be refundable if you couldn’t make it but it will certainly be accessible with seating!! It would very likely be in the downtown area but I will keep you posted as we dial in the venue. Hope to see you as well Ryan :)

Canadian in a t shirt says around 3k he does norbit gambat what do you suggest if it’s less than 1k to buy couple etfs?
I’ve learned so much from You and Canadian in a T-shirt. You came right on time when I wanted to start my own investment practice.
Just the question I had 3 hours ago are now being answered thanks!

Fantastic man! Can’t wait to meet you as well. Will be my first time in Montreal 😎
@@beaviswealth I'm sure you'll love it, and hope you'll have time to explore the city a little 😁
Are you still trading im from montreal and wouldnt be opposed to some tips @patrickbelanger6253

heyyy, how'd you do that ??
CDR+Wealtsimple is a game changer for me😎
how does that work?
Wealthsimple charges a 1.5% conversion fee if you want to trade US securities directly, but if you're buying a CAD hedged version instead, you avoid the fee (but the MER is higher).
heyy, what's CAD hedged version??@@atoaster2070
@@atoaster2070what do you think is better? Buy CAD - Hedged or buy US stock
@@atoaster2070but then even you’re paying 3% (1.5 on buy and 1.5 on sell)
Brandon 😮❤😊-I never knew scotia Itrade did not charge a commission for VFV until I watched your video. THANK YOU ❤❤❤
Thanks for the video Brandon!! always good to have refresher videos!
I would have appreciated seeing an example, what the amounts for fees would be simply buying it, versus norberts gambit (1 vs 2). Thanks!
Excellent breakdown on conversation methods. Would you be able to give us an

I use National Bank Direct Brokerage. The only fees that I pay are the Cx fees you mention. Too much of a hassle for me to use Norbit Gambit.
I like USD account as when you get divadinds/sell you dont have to convert to cad and can buy more usd stocks
I happened to have few thousand US dollars in cash that I been holding forever!! I’ll deposit that to my TD account and then buy the US stocks I want without paying fees. Thank you!!
What about IBKR? They don't have this conversion fee, just fee for a request execution ~1-3CAD
This is the best way to convert. I don't know why he picked Questrade as an example to show. Their commissions for everything is horrendous.
What are the tax implications in buying US stocks on RRSP, and/or TFSA? Is there a way to pay the least and minimum tax?
Great job Brandon ;-)
Thanks Candace! :D
Great video Brandon. Thanks.
Thanks Joe! :)
Thanks dude!
Can we trade QQQ options in Questrade?
CDRs have a 0.5-0.6% YEARLY fee, it means you lose tons of money in the long-term (which TFSA is for) compounding.
So what's the deal?
Im in Ontario how can i buy borqs technologies stock? Is there a way or do you have to be accredited?
How do we park USD for getting some returns during we wait to buy equity. For both Wealthsimple and questrade
I have a USD Bank account and USD TFSA account in TD. Can I not directly add my USD money to my USD TFSA? I can't see the option in my app. are there brokers here in canada where I can directly add my USD amount and then use that USD amount to by US based stocks and ETF's
Good job bud 👍
Thanks man!
What about TD easy trade?
1.5% for conversion fee, so if I invest 10k I’m paying $150 in conversion fee?
Hey, why not just use wise to convert from CAD to USD?
Were you able to do it?
Maybe someone already mention this, I believe that NEO has been bought by Cboe now.
This is correct! I’m just used to saying NEO :p
Hello BRANDON what about RBc for US stocks?
Yup, that would absolutely be fine! Similar to where I share my thoughts on TD direct!
I like CDR I buy nvda with over 1000 doller stock I payed 98.50 but went up after I buy stock I own wall mart two share I have Visa Mastercard I did own amzn McDonald but I sell them to buy nvada I'm happy with CDR because I do not have pay 1000 3000 on same stock pay same I do not have much money so CDR work four me I all so have TFSA tax free account I my buy few more stock litter on lol I can use money I make frome nvda buy more stock soon my stock with pay four it self

you picked Shark Club ? lol of all places.... yikes.... but I mean good thing you guys are higher value.. sorry you picked such a low end venue...
It's not 'Canadians'. It is persons with a trading account in Canada. Not the same thing, correct?
Just bought some baba🙂
Why am I so surprised that you own a CDR? Haha
No, you aren't coming to a city near me. But nobody cares about the Maritimes anyway.
:(
Your not in Saskatchewan 🥲🥲🥲
