I grew up listening to their music. DJ ako dito da Germany and hanggang ngayon 2019 na, “Sumayaw, sumunod“ pa rin ang laging nirerequest sa akin tuwing pinoy parties!
Arnold sana i Guest mo silang lahat ang The Boyfriend's ang saya ko nakita ko sila sa Show mo sana meron pang Next Time o dikaya REUNION ng THE BOYFRIEND'S
Joey Abando was the lead & a very good composer that time. They can do fairly good falsetto sound. Sa Tuwing Ako'y Nag-iisa was the pinoy counterpart of You Should Be Dancing by the phenomenal BEE GEES. They had a good run for (2) albums BUT I believe the success swelled up Abando's head as he started producing other artists (Ella D.R. was one of them) and started to demand the name change to Joey Abando & The Boyfriends. I really thought at that time, that he really thought he was really Barry Gibb himself!😳🤣 Anyway, the song Damdamin Ko is the counterpart of Too Much Heaven. The surprising part of their career was when Joey left the group for dead. The (3) remaining members regrouped and came out with the very successful single: Bakit Labis Kitang Mahal and a new album with some English songs in it. Although the falsetto was still there, they developed an updated, new backtrack sound with the synthesizer, and non-exaggerated lead vocals mostly joined by Bob & Gary. It was actually a fresher sound than the first Abando-driven sound. That was really when the group finally earned a higher respect because of a solid, fresh comeback from an already stale sound. They also provided memorable background falsetto vocals to other artists e.g. Jose Mari Chan's Love To Last A Lifetime & Eloisa's Nasaan Ka to name some. They were already Joey-less when they did these memorable background appearances. Real nice career for a group who just started belting out BEE GEES harmonies during their break time at work! 👍
Bob Guzman resembled "Barry Gibb" from his old pix. I only wished Joey Abando made it to this interview bec he was an integral part of the group, although, it was Gary Arriola and Bob Guzman who held down the fort and continued their legacy. To these men whose contribution has made a huge impact in the music industry that also paved the way for others. To the "BOYFRIENDS" whose music are everlasting and forever be remembered for their talent, music and their expertise. To Jun Mallilin, Norman Caraan, Vincent Daffalong and other lyricists (Juen Nacorda and Dodi Santa Maria) whose songwriting skills have made the BAND a household name. Kudos to these men and their expertise! And last but not least to the TH-cam contributor, Migs Emano, who immortalized my favorite band "Boyfriends" on his TH-cam channel for the world to see and enjoy.
Ayaw sumama ni Joey Abando na sa group even in a reunion or interviews. Since before lumaki agad ulo nya kaya iniwan nya sa ere yung Boyfriends and he still using the name of boyfriends to his mini concert because without the group he was nothing and thats the fact.

Humble but legend.
Si Joey abando ang lead vocalist at madaming nagawang kanta sa grupo

Suerte ng musicians noon kasi kaunti lang sila nga kaya naging timeless ang kanta nila. Ngayon parang panty lang araw araw palit.

Very good singers with very nice songs I hope to see them perform again!

Mas recognize si Joey Abando as Boyfriends kasi all of their songs sya ang kumanta. Early 90's nagsama si Gary Ariola at Joey they formed BESTFRIENDS!
kahit kelan mga maling pronunciation. 'Single' is not pronounced as 'singgil but singgol'
