    Dave, this is best video of all the videos I viewed on your utube channel. It’s like a well synthesized recipe of Elon’s mode of management. Elon is like The Great Alexander of our Technology World as his ambitions and conquests are not only breathtaking but also inspirational. Keep it up

    I watched Elon’s interview with Lt Gen. John F Thompson (who interviewed very well), last night funnily enough. Elon talks slow, like an old blues singer, and you have to concentrate through the gaps of silence, and piece intermittent words together.
    You’ve performed a brilliant amalgamation of his philosophy and execution here. He ought to have you sat next to him. ;)

    Hi Dave, thank you sooo much for your videos, they are really great. Every time I see one of your videos the same thing happens: at first the title makes me think "I know that already", but then when I watch the video I get blown away by the clearness of your thinking. I had seen the interview with Elon and it was very inspiring, I thought you could not add very much to that. But actually you formulated a framework that is inspiring and can be remembered, teached and spread. Very valuable.

    Determining how a company innovates is complicated, but I always like to start by examining three facets--product, pipeline, and process. Would be wise for keen investors to further deconstruct each area, but starting with this general framework can produce a clear vision on why some companies are capable of returning 10x.
    Practice your skills by answering these questions in terms of product, pipeline and process...
    How in the world is Kodak not in the leader of digital imagery?
    How did Netflix beat Blockbuster, and how will it compete with Apple, Disney, Amazon?
    What created the turnaround for Apple 20 years ago?
    How does a company last for 182 years like P&G?
    What are consumers yearning for (and their latent needs) and which market is poised to be disrupted?

    Great dive into how innovation is fostered in Elon's companies. An input I would have, and this may have just been assumed in your presentation, is that the over-structure of the enterprise is the goals which Elon has put there and the vision. Innovation is key, and knowing well what you are innovating toward is key to that key. Accelerating the advent of sustainable transport is an unmistakable target, and very long range. The thinking there is what innovation its target. Elon is likely one of very few in the right mental space to mock up such a responsible objective. And the world seems ready to embrace that vision - an encouraging sign in these sometimes self-centered times.

    Loonshots by Safi Bacall is a great book that describes how proper incentive structures are essential if you want to fuel innovation. I shared the book with my former CTO after I left my last company to try to help him reinvigorate the innovation department that I was formerly apart of.
    I was involved in a start-up project within a large company but there were no real incentives surrounding my project. My bonus was tied to the performance of the entire company so the only benefit in crushing my small team goals was pride and the potential for a leadership role if my project ever took off.
    Now I'm working for a small start-up with equity in the company and the true feeling that I'll be compensated for my direct contributions and that my successes are meaningful. There's a real difference. And my last company wasn't bad, they didn't do anything wrong or treat me unfairly. They just didn't incentivize risk taking, pushing the boundaries or questioning things. My new company openly encourages people to speak truth to power and it's awesome.

    Your presentation is very informative especially about Tesla and Elon Musk.
    Have you thought about doing videos on other upcoming renewable like Fuel Cells if you believe in that tech?

    Great video on innovation. What I don’t understand is why you then have fairly low expectations on what this innovation will achieve. For example, you think that Tony Seba’s analysis is way too optimistic. You cite that adoption of FSD will be slower than Tony sees. Yet Tesla has the best innovators working on these psychological and regulatory issues. So you seem to doubt that innovation can succeed in non-technical areas. Maybe you will now reconsider Tony’s analysis in a new light? Innovation in the psychology and regulation of FSD implementation. I see Tesla succeeding in this area of innovation.

    I appreciate you sharing your knowledge analysis which is helping me improve the way I think. With the market possibly heading a lot lower for the next few months or even a year - I’m going to keep an eye on on the Vix... what company or companies are on your 21 sensors that may be in the .1%

    If it doesn’t happen in our lifetime what good is it? The stainless steel replaced composite structures. Cost savings and time all improved. Even the model Y is light years ahead of the model 3.(Cybertruck will ROCK!!!!)

    Hi Dave,
    Another great look into distruption companies. Good example on the GoPro one. It was initially a first-mover who wasn't able to keep up with the competition it had created. So to create an innovation culture, its similar to natural selection. Where we sift out those "non-innovative" ones, esp from management positions and populate those position with more innovative ones.
    Can we pick your brains on this rather newly listed company, Beyond Meat?
    Oh and anw, at 6:45 is it supposed to be Incentivizing Innovation? - same phrase as in 13:30. minor things. The video's good, really learnt stuff.

    Tesla needs to innovate Autopilot. Wake me up when Tesla is 100% autonomy, not half-ass autonomous.

    • @maxtruong187
      @maxtruong187 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tesla is already innovated in autonomous technologies. Do deep research on how Tesla is doing autopilot and you will be surprised. I have no time to comment on here but search up something like "Why Tesla doesn't user lidar?" or "Self-driving car Tesla". They are setting up the things needed for a very fast process. If everything is on time, (hopefully) people will be surprised how fast they moving in the next few months, I will wake you up

    • @maxtruong187
      @maxtruong187 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      'A neural network for to train another neural network on very very mass scale'. This is the typical first principle of thinking from Tesla.

    • @rlopez2626
      @rlopez2626 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Max Truong - NTSB has reported that autopilot is dangerous. When Elon avoids NTSB and is combative with the agency, that is not innovative. Do your research, they are regressing not innovating. Thanks for playing.

    • @rlopez2626
      @rlopez2626 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Max Truong - Look up the definition of autopilot? It’s a device that steers itself without a person. Placing your god damn hands on and off is not autopilot. Who are you trying to convince?

    • @maxtruong187
      @maxtruong187 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rlopez2626 firstly NSTB didn't say autopilot is dangerous. They said the system to know if your hand is on the steering wheel or not is dangerous. They praised the system. Secondly, Waymo, GM Cruise, Intel MobilEye, etc... A shit tons of companies is doing car steer itself without hand on the wheel. Tesla is a car manufactures, the law requires them to make people to put their hand on the wheel. Others are software companies, the people that tests these systems are not consumers. Tesla is the safest out there and they proved that with the massive data that they have when the system is engage. So shut the F up and do your fucking research on the way Tesla is doing self driving. They are innovating because they do it differently and outside of the box. No one is even near self driving and all using a similar way which is primally Lidar. The recent crash report was 2 years ago, the guy was playing game on his phone while autopilot was on. He fooled the system and it thought his hand was on. Why do you even here if you hate Tesla?
