- hey everyone,
So on this session, I wanted to try and get my stepson into a decent fish, but low and behold he was too busy, seriously though, he wanted to but couldn't make it. I ventured solo to the back of the island armed with crab and mackerel, in the hope of picking up a tope, bass or hound. I ended up with a bunch of congers but unfortunately no target this time
Hope you enjoy

Great vid Dylan , I think you jinxed yourself at the start tho mate by saying how good your last session was 😂😂, still you had some action and no blank , appreciate your efforts dude 👍🏼👍🏼
I know mate, I should have kept my mouth shut shouldn't I 😂😂. Always appreciate the support mate👍🎣🎣
I must say I hate eels think I would rather blank Lol but a great watch again keep up the good work mate
No way mate😂😂, I've heard people staying it about dogs too, but I rather catch something, obviously preferably something better than a strap, the very next night, there was a nice rope had right from where I was😂😂🎣🎣
@@FrugalOutdoors Sod’s Law that mate lol
Great vlog dylan again your vlogs are getting better in the way you talk about the fishing session & how your present yourself a true happy professional fisherman
Manny thanks
Thanks mate, that's really nice, I'm glad you are enjoying 👍🎣🎣
glad you caught a pouting happy memories from that side of the island catching pouting great videos mate
Thank you mate, yeah there are some nice ones out there in the winter, I take them home when they are big enough, I think they are good eating 👍🎣🎣
Well done, mate, you can't smash it every time. Great watch.
Thanks bud, doesn't stop us from trying though😂👍🎣🎣
It's all about being out with nature catching fish is a bonus that's what I think. Good video as always.tight lines.
Thanks mate, yeah definitely, although when I'm recording it doesn't make for a very interesting video if I blank. I still post though, as it is real fishing. Gives the wrong impression otherwise. We aren't a false channel here🤣😉. It's a beautiful spot down there, and there aren't many places of rather be sitting if I don't catch. Always something happening down there, whether it's bats, foxes, or the occasional unexplained phenomenon 🤣🤣🎣👍
Never mind, you had a go & there's always next time. Looks like a beautiful venue to fish even when being hassled by straps. I look forward to the next one, it should be bream & mackerel city soon. All the best. 👍
Thanks buddy, yeah fingers crossed mate, hopefully the bream will be showing in numbers, I'm picking a few out, but not many, not compared to later in the year, and I'd love to get into a few mackerel. 👍🎣🎣
Well done, Dylan, looked a stunning evening on the back of the Island. Didn't get the target species, but not a blank either. Well done on servicing those reels, a braver man than me!
Thanks Steve mate, I love fishing out there, it's a bit more effort, but such a lovely place to spend a few ours. I was a bit nervous doing the reels, but once I got into it, they aren't too bad, defo glad I did them though😂👍🎣🎣
If your not there you don’t catch
I’m fishing a very long shallow beach on sat night and early Sunday
Fishing with lures but not expecting to catch (llanbedre, Harlech)
But one thing is more or less garanteed is I will see some dolphin and possibly harbour porpoises
Magic, good video and good banter 😎
Mate that sounds amazing, how nice it must be to see wildlife like that👍🎣🎣
Great information with your videos Dylan. You can only catch what’s out there. Love it down there 🎣🐟🦈
Thanks Kev mate, yeah it's up there mate as one of my favourite venues for sure, take care mate👍👍🎣
Great video again, better luck next time mucca
Cheers dude, appreciate it👍🎣🎣
Thanks Dylan,
Baiting up , always informative, helpfull. Given me the push to "service " my reals,
Tight lines, Take care
Thanks mate, do it, you'll be so glad you did👍🎣🎣
Not many fish Dylan, but still enjoyable to watch. 👍👍
Thanks buddy, can you believe that the very next day, rope and hounds were caught, fiah d it's nuts off apparently 😂😂👍🎣
Had a silver eel on the river Teign the other night...about 8 inches long ,and lip hooked in the bottom lip ...thought blimey it's a miracle 😂...lifted the rig , and grabbed the hook shank and by the time it was released ,it had strangled itself, hooked it's own side ,twisted me to oblivion ,and left me covered in slime ...😂😂😂😂...pesky critters ...
Great video mate ...Great after a long day ...
Lol, I know mate, as soon as they hit the bank sometimes there is no stopping them, you think the rigs ok, and you end up cutting it to pieces to save the fish😂😂🎣🎣
@@FrugalOutdoors it's good to know there's a population of them in the estuary though..I'll happily cut a rig to save them...can't believe they're now on the endangered list.over here...
Happy days bud...look forward to the next vid...
You can only catch what’s there mate, enjoying these slightly longer vids, always a great watch buddy😎👍👍
Thanks buddy, appreciate the feedback mate, I do waffle a fair bit, so editing is a nightmare😂😂, as long as it's not too boring I'll keep around there, if it turns people off, I'll try and shorten them down a bit👍🎣🎣
Lovely video Dylan. I say never knock a strap or 6. Nice you finished with a pout. Thank you for the shoutout..
You're welcome Sharon, it was nice to be kept busy, and thankfully I didn't get too many rigs ruined😂👍🎣
Rins ur reels under cold water to take the salt off ur gear and it will keep ur gear running nice
Great tip mate, thank you👍👍🎣
Good video again Dylan
Thank you Martin mate, that's very much appreciated 👍🎣🎣
Great positive attitude, I would have been going psycho with the lack of activity! Ex South African angler so used to big fish and being very busy. What grease did you use on your reels? Keep them coming!
Lol, I can definitely understand that if you are used to catching lots of fish, it would be great if it's like that here. Sometimes we can get a nice session on the smooth hounds, but inevitably we end up scratching about for anything 😂😂🎣🎣
good video dylan not what you where after but still good sport ,think that pouting was a nice surprise after them eels , not through lack of trying great baits always next time cheers bud stay safe
Thanks mate, yeah it was quite a pleasant surprise to be honest, I wouldn't mind the straps if they didn't wreck the rigs, nice to be catching anything to be honest👍🎣🎣
Well done mate , at least you could hold your conger with 2 hands my one on Friday night was held up with 2 fingers and a hint of embarrassment 😜
See you on the next one 🎣😎👍🏼
Cheers mate, yeah it seems a bit slow over last week or so for me. I think there are fish out there, just being in right place right time👍🎣🎣
Great video again mate 💯👍
Thanks Ian buddy, much appreciated mate🎣👍👍
Nice video Dylan. I bought 2 reels of that Asso night 20lb though and that tied lovely to my 60lb leader with the arbour knot
Ah nice mate, I had a look at that arbour knot, and it looks like a knot to two to the reel, let me know mate, because at the minute I'm doing quite a basic knot, and I've lost two leaders in two trips. One is holding really well, pulled out of snags etc, but one is just a bit rubbish 👍🎣🎣
Hi Dylan ... In your last video ... I did suggest that you should service your reels, whether you saw my comments or not ... But they sound a lot better now ... But reel maintenance is a nessessity ... If you want to get the best out of them all ... Another conger fest from you, saved the blank ... With a bonus pouting to boot ...🐟🎣🎣
Hi John, yes I did see, I have replied, just took me a while, sometimes I get delayed, but I'll always respond mate. It's made such a difference, they are so much better now and far nicer to use. It was nice to be busy, and I'm sure I'll get down there for another crack at a tope. Thanks mate👍🎣🎣
Better than the dreaded dogfish
Well there is a that, especially when they deep hook themselves, although they don't ruin quite so many rigs😉👍🎣🎣
Hi Dylan another great vlog. I don't use the line your using but have you tried the albright knot to attach your leader to your mainlin 👍
Hi mate, yeah that's the know I usually use, it's just really weird with this line, it's like it grips rather than sinching down, it's fine with a uni knot, and also a blood knot etc, just when it's with another line. I'll keep at it, but appreciate your help 👍🎣🎣
@@FrugalOutdoors your very welcome
what sunglasses are those? need to get myself a blue pair aswell
I think they are called kdeam, they aren't expensive, but they do the business, and polarised so perfect for fishing 👍🎣🎣
So why arent you using an FG knot? Shouldn't be any of the problems you are experiencing with an albright.....
I was under the impression the fg is for braid to mono, plus it's a complete pain in the arse to tie😂😂. I have done it a few times, but to be honest I find it a faff, maybe I should try again, thanks mate👍🎣🎣
