My 1st OTR Experience

- I had to travel cross country for a photo shoot and interview with Swift. I used i10 on the way going and i20 on the way back. It was a very different experience since I’m used to being home everyday lol.

Vee, it was so great to meet you in Phoenix, and just sorry you had such an... adventure on your OTR run. But you keeping it real about you and your experience is one of the many things we appreciate about you.
I completed my bachelor's degree while living in my car, I spent the better part of 5 years traveling around Latin America, and I became fluent in Spanish at 25 years of age. I am currently enrolled in an alternative teaching program to teach Spanish, but as I will be waiting a year to get into the classroom, I've decided to get my CDL. A company will be paying for my training and I will be creating videos during the process and sharing as much as I can for everyone else out there interested in driving! I begin on the 31st, so feel free to connect with me regarding anything! Take care.
Going OTR is definitely different, it's trucking as a lifestyle vs trucking as a job. It's not for everyone but I had a good time running OTR; learned many things, met a lot of people, saw many sights, and had the most fun in trucking that I've ever had. It was nice that you shared your experience with the rest of us, it reminded me of my own OTR experiences.
You’re right when u said it’s not for everyone. I’ve been doing it 4 a while. I’m tired of it. I’m just doing it until I get a year experience then hoping to find something local.
@Killer2600 and @Swift Transportation I'm currently working on obtaining my CDL, and have my physical tomorrow. Hopefully I will take the General Knowledge test next week etc... I'm wanting to do OTR as I'm single and no kids. Tired of paying the high rent in Florida. Any tips? I'm thinking about SAGE trucking school in Ft. Pierce as its 30 miles from me.

Good luck from a fellow Swifty. They do hate us out here but that kind of fuels me. Don’t let the haters get you down. Been with swift almost 5 years and never had a real complaint that you won’t get at another major carrier. Don’t believe what you hear, our safety record isn’t bad. That’s why we don’t get pulled in at weigh stations like most other people. Stay safe.

The dancing was HILARIOUS!!!! 😆😅😂🤣😭 You said the inside of your truck was a mess, that’s the tell tale sign you are a “real” trucker; you’ll get it together. Back in the 80s & down I saw a mix of cabover & conventional cab semis around here in the USA. Nowadays I mostly see conventional cabs although the length limit increased which made cabovers no longer needed to pull longer trailers.
You were ten miles from my house at the Love’s in Jackson. Great job.
I did the Atlanta to Nogales trip for the first time in August. Got stuck down there for 3 days. As far as I’m concerned it is Mexico. The city crosses the border. My delivery was about 200 yards from the border booth. The people were nice but if I don’t ever go back that’ll be cool with me.

I found something to be helpful always try to pull up your address on your phone and look at the Satellite save me a lot of time I get to look at the customer and see how big the warehouse is and what street I need to turn in have fun😎
