    My grandmother was half swede and Fin... My Cousin took a DNA test, and through her mother, connecting to our grandmother, showed V1, a strong haploid group that strongly correlates with the Saami people. I truly respect their spiritual beliefs... A lot of resemblance towards what the American Indigenous believe. Proud to share some ancestry with people that hold a strong respect towards nature.

      I'm full-blooded Sami. Our gods are the nature. I was the last 16 year old who. Was counted as a grown Sami when i killed a male bear in the spring. You use a spear with two metal sticking out to the side, and two experienced hunters who threw rock into the den, and the explosion of power who came out of the den was REALLY angry! I was standing on one knee when it came out, i screamed *Orõjaska STALLO* when he came so fast and angry . My spear was 3 meters long, with a metal stick with a metal circle to stop the spear from getting pushed to far into the ground. When the bear was four meters away,. I shat myself, but lifted the spear so the spear went into the chest,, and the more the bear moved, it cut the heart and lungs. Now I'm 56, and still have a tooth around the neck. It's not aloud to do anymore, many people brag about it, but it's only lies. The rush of fear running through your body...... . As i said, i shat myself.

    • @icewings2011

      Not that strange. In year 2004, I've been lapland(an area among north FInland, Norway and Russia) in where SAMI folks live.
      The sami people look and dress like Mongolian. The way they graze their reindeers, the way they build their temps, the way they cook and even the knives they use are almost as same as the Mogolian ones(and some minority nations in north China).
      Some sami people look like pure Asian, some look like half European half Asian.
      Native American also look and dress like Mongolian. They also share a lot of similarities with Mongolian. Several thousands years ago,the ancestor of Mongolian traveled the north sphere to graze and live. In that time, Bering strait was not supposed to be all covered by the sea. That's how they traveled to North America.
      If you travel around the world, you could find a lot this kind of similarities. The Tibetian people look and dress exactly like the mountain people in Peru. They even use the same traditional instruments, though it seems there's no way in history they can communicate to each other.

    Neils, thank you for this beautiful joik. When I'm sad about the state of the world I find that Ancient Forces lifts my spirit, although I have no clue what you are joiking about.
    My father's parents are from different parts of Finland, who met in the US in the early 1900s. I'm blonde blue-eyed like my father and grandfather. My grandmother on the other hand is dark with a distinct Eurasian look to her. I was always told we had Mongolian blood, which I attributed to my grandmother's appearance. All my elders passed before I became interested in my ancestry, so I have many unanswered questions. I'm now the elder and as I walk my spiritual path of self discovery I hope to pass on some answers I've found to my children and grandchildren.
    I only read about the Saami maybe a decade ago....but immediately recognized my grandmother as looking very much like some of the darker Eurasian looking Saami women whose pictures I've seen...which got me to wondering if she was Saami or part Saami...per a DNA test my brother had we do have Mongolian and Saami DNA.
    The first time I heard Ancient Forces I felt my ancestors in my veins. I've read how badly the Saami have been treated over the centuries, and how many Saami who immigrated to the US did so only as Finnish or Scandinavian, hiding their Saami ancestry.
    Strange after all these years in the US (my father passed only 20 years ago) that my family was willing to share knowledge of our Mongolian blood (which I understand many Finns deny due to European racism), yet they couldn't or wouldn't divulge our Saami blood.
    I'm obviously not Saami since I'm not part of the culture, but I am very moved and proud to know that some of my ancestors were from your beautiful culture. Thank you again for your joiks which touch my soul. Namaste'

      I have a similar story. My mother was adopted, and we'd always felt out of place with our adoptive family. It was hard for us, have that same Eurasian look to us, with slightly darkened skin and narrow eyes. My mother jumped at the chance to take a DNA test, and it said she was mostly Scandinavian. The area we know my biological grandmother came from has many Scandinavian immigrants, majority coming from Sápmi. I've since then become devoted to my Sámi heritage, though I don't really agree with their political ideas. I am still enthralled with their history and their music and cooking and their stories. My family is hoping to start herding reindeer soon, as yet another way to contact our heritage.

      Sidra,
      May I inquire as to which DNA test your brother took? I have taken several tests via several different companies. My Mtdna haplogroup is U4 subclade c1. My tests indicate some Finnish percentages. U5 today is with a larger percentage of the Saami population than that of U4. Do you hapen to know your mother's Mtdna haplogroup? I too am blonde/blue/grey eyed. Though growing up, everyone asked my parents if I perhaps had a bit of Asiatic ethnicity to me. I have epicanthic folds like Bjork. Anyhow, best regards. :) p.s. my children also tested positive for Mongolian markers in their DNA.

    • @Vamutus
      @Vamutus 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends on how you look at it. Saami in current form arent the only indigenous europeans. Theres basque, and well, us finns (who got same root as saami, atleast in cultural and linguistic sense)

    • @lazyishardwork
      @lazyishardwork 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      ok, thanks, so is there a direct lineage from Saami to Finns? I mean is it likely that a Finn might have a grandparent or great great grandparent who is Saami? I have very distant heritage from the Nordic/Northern European region, but I was born Australia half a world away in a region prone to extreme heat. I love the cold, some traits are innate. There must be a close connection between Finns and Saami people though given the cultural and linguistic similarity. Are your languages mutually unrecognisable, are there root words which are the same etc. For example, English is originally Germanic, but has borrowed from so many other languages, we even have Asian words, but hammer in English is the same in German. Words such as knife, know we got from the Vikings a millennium ago. Are there consistences between your languages? Are they great or minor? I'm studying anthropology at university and it is a genuine interest of mine. Australia is very multicultural, I have friends from many varied countries including the Middle East. (sorry this is so long, I really get into anthropology) but my point is we have indigenous Aboriginals who I consider the real Australians, everyone else, including my ancestors are immigrants, or invaders, but the first settlers here were mainly from England, Ireland, Scotland and we are kind of void of an "Australian" culture. We borrow from many other cultures. Would you describe the connection Finland has with the Saami as a shared culture or borrowed or a variation of it?
