Live Reaction to my First ESSAY MARK at UNIVERSITY (I cried...)
ฝัง

- I wanted to show you my honest reaction to receiving this grade and I hope that it can be helpful / relatable if you are currently facing failure on some level. As you could see, when I first saw the mark, my first thought was that I had wasted my time but THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS WASTED TIME because all of our experiences and shortcomings help us to learn and grow into the person we were always supposed to be... I would like to stress also that, as ever, grades are relative: what is good for one person is bad for another and vice versa. Try not to compare yourself when you receive a grade back because we are all different and this is SO IMPORTANT to recognise!
Also, even though I really wasn't happy with this first grade, I received another essay back a few days later and was over the moon with the mark. We all have good and bad days; we're all human; and there is nothing wrong with being wrong or a little bit vulnerable sometimes x
stop hating on her. do you know how crappy it feels when you work your butt off for something and it doesn't pay off?
That's why I don't even bother learning.
Yes I do, in fact I think most people do. This is excessive and concerning , trust me I know. I've exhibited the same behaviour and have been told by my therapist that it's not normal and that it's most likely a result of you pressuring yourself into being the absolute best all the time or a result of pressure and high expectations from your parents. Plus saying she's overreacting or that this isn't healthy isn't ''hating on her'' , it's stating the truth in a non-insulting way.
@@elvenmaiden7027 Pushing yourself into being the absolute best all the time isn't really a bad thing. I'm not so sure about this being "not normal" because it is, it really is. If you don't feel this way, aren't you basically half-assing what you do. I've had my own taste of failures and I felt the same disappointment and regret. You see these reactions in Olympics and even Esports when they only win 2nd place or get kicked off so early in a competition for God's sake. What in the world does your therapist mean by saying it's "not normal". I honestly don't even give in to most of what therapists say... You don't have to worship every word of it.
I'm not saying that people shouldn't put in effort , i'm saying that you shouldn't let work/school define the person you are because then a simple failure will lead to these kinds of breakdowns and you feeling like you're nothing despite all your work. She's a very smart , very hardworking and kind girl , but she's putting all her eggs into one basket and it's not going to end well for her. I honestly don't agree with most things therapists say/do either , but I've found that it's a very common thing among ambitious people and that once they realise life doesn't have to be a scoreboard , that they start enjoying themselves more and worrying less.
@@elvenmaiden7027 I agree completely. The more absurd thing is that her so called fans don't worry about her study behaviour but even encourage it. Unbelievable.
I’m really getting sick of these “she’s overreacting” comments. Imagine working on something for days and days and you don’t get the result you expected to get? It feels really bad. Her reaction is completely normal so stop thinking it’s a cry for attention

RUBY! My first essays scored SO SO LOW. University marking so different from A-Levels - so naturally it takes longer to get used to it! The biggest difference is how much better you get from 1st to 3rd year - it’s honestly so rewarding when you look back. The key thing is learning from where you went wrong, see your tutor, ask for specific feedback, and I promise improvements will follow (and knowing you....HUGE improvements). LOVE YOU !

Exactly! Always get your feedback. As one teacher of mine used to say: "feedback is the breakfast of champions"!
I’m so confused why people say her study habits are unhealthy. She ENJOYS studying, she’s a study enthusiast. This is her reaction to her first result which is important to her. Of course it wouldn’t be good if she dwelled on it. But there’s nothing wrong with trying hard in your work, if anything it’s more admirable than being naturally intelligent.
Bangtan Sunshine studying for fourteen hours sitting down on a screen is very unhealthy
The people that say that are usually the people who use social media till 3am.
nikki arezzi she doesn’t really do it everyday :) and i think its a lot not healthier but better than just surfing the internet for 14 hours ( thing many people do without knowing everyday :)) )
Studying for 14 hours is a coping mechanism. It is an escape. It has more to do with self worth issues and fear of rejection then "passion". Every form of coping is unhealthy.
İ have a phone addiction and even I can't spend 14 hours straight with my phone. İ can't spend 14 hours even while i do the thing that i love most. İt is obvious that she has kind of a escaping system. İ don't think she is overreacting here, i think it is normal.
You'll be fine, Ruby. First grades in college are usually low and you'll probably get one or two bad marks in your last year, too. An individual grade does not represent your entire academic journey and failure is bound to happen, as grading in university is far more subjective than what you're probably used to. Keep up the good work and stay positive!
Thank you so much for this Mariana -- it really means a lot! What you're saying is actually just so true and, a week or so having now passed, I can see this so much more clearly :) x

Katie Davis Well, my parents hace never pressured me. Not in a direct way, but the expectations that they have had about me did. But mainly, the one who treated me wrong was myself.
Katie Davis But I can definitely get how that feels and I hope it gets better.
For people wondering....
0-39% is a fail
40-49% is a 3rd
50-59% is a 2:2 (my 1st uni grade yay)
60-69% is a 2:1
70%+ is a 1st

I feel like school is teaching the wrong morals. Ruby is crying for taking a chance when she should actually be congratulated for that. Life is about taking risks and school is obviously teaching the exact opposite.
School is teaching you FACTS. It is not much about moral. And life is about taking CALCULATED risks if you wanna succeed, if you just take stupid risks, you will most likely fail.
and it’s the schools job to correct you on things they think do not make sense, even if she took a risk it is their job to tell her why it did not work out and that is the grade. she should just take it as a learning experience tbh
It’s like a game to us. If u die in a game u get pissed and when we fail our exams we get pissed.
Ashkahin True, schools aren’t entirely ‘educating’ anymore. Like if it was really teaching I’m sure teachers would be walking around the room saying ‘Omg, yes! Congratulations, that’s correct.’ Honestly the school system is SO WACK and society needs to change! We don’t know what alternatives are out there because we’re only forming one singular line every morning and not experiencing the REAL WORLD. In fact humans probably have no idea what the REAL WORLD is because we always have to form a one-to-one structure that makes humans look robotic.

To know that the very same person is now completing her Master's at Oxford is lovely. We need to go through the disappointment of unrealised expectations in order to learn and become better writers and researchers. So glad you shared this with us... it absolutely sucks to work so hard and feel like nothing's come out of it. Your Oxford self must be proud!
It’s really not healthy to be this upset and put so much pressure on yourself over a mark on an essay in first year....
R facts
For real this is probably gonna be 0.0001% of her degree classification.
she didnt even do badly as well & first year never counts for final grade so its like...this aint healthy
she said she shouldn't be upset. don't give her a hard time for being so open and honest. if you watch the video to the end you'll see that she is also self-critical.
It's hard to not care when you work really hard on something. I find my self esteem in school (i cant help it) and if I don't get the score I want I am devastated. Not saying Ruby is the same as me but it can be hard and she is allowed to be upset.
I just want to say, I got a 2:2 on my first ever university essay. I think it was a 57, and I was doing an English Degree. All we need to be good at is listening to feedback and improving. My last essay in 3rd year got a mark of 85! And then I won Best Dissertation for my Masters program. To anyone reading this, failure is good. Failure, or what we deem to be failure, keeps us from stagnating, it helps us grow and improve. You'll do brilliantly, just listen to feedback and work on it. Surround yourself with people who get better grades than you and learn from them, that's what I did and it's super helpful!
Surround yourself with others who do better is top advice. So many want others around them that make them feel better by being worse but having others that sometimes do better really motivates you and helps when you all share your ideas!

Ruby. The lesson here is not “don’t take chances” it’s, “learn how to structure arguments better. If you never take chances, you’ll NEVER be able to grow and develop as a person. University/College is a place to TAKE CHANCES. So do it, it’s normal to FAIL. Just make sure you are taking the feedback and becoming a better person.
Remember, failure is inevitable, make sure you know how to grow from there.
So True!
I agree. I think there is no such thing as taking chances with an argument in an essay. You have a point, all you need to do is learn how to word that. "Taking a chance" in an essay is just the same as saying "the lecturer might dismiss my own personal opinion on a text"
I think people get wrapped up with "getting a certain grade". Go to lectures, do the work, give the essay title some independent thought and formulate your own opinion. The key is to have CONFIDENCE in yourself, learning to argue your point clearly will be a skill you will develop along the way!
Yaas girl
Very true. Ruby definitely didn't fail though! I agree with Bethany Gemmell, getting a 2:2 is something to be proud of. On your FIRST assignment at a Russell Group university when you have essentially no idea what you're doing because you've never done a university style assessment, a 2:2 shows you've actually fulfilled the brief, which is great!
this video is not rude / she works harder than others and set high expectations for herself, everyone should and she doesn't owe anyone a apologize for crying over a "passing grade" :)
when i first saw this,i thought to myself she might be overreacting, but now that im in university and got the lowest score possible on a presentation ive spent 2 sleepless nights on,i feel her :( i feel like a complete moron lol
I’m in first year too and no group in our module managed anything over 50% in the first presentation. It’s easy to think that you’re stupid when stuff like this happens but honestly the change in marking from a level is crazy but I guess if we were getting 90%s we wouldn’t need to be here in the first place so it’s good to remember that at the end of the day you’re here to learn and you have a lot of time to do so.
I mean when you have to spend 2 sleepless nights that probably means you started late and then it shouldn’t be surprising. You should always start early so you have enough time and don’t have to spend the nights before the presentation working on it. Believe me you will do much better
Dijkstra you’re so sweet🥺🥺i needed this

Hey! I'm a third-year English lit and creative writing student and trust me when I say that your first essay in first year is ALWAYS going to be one of the lowest essays in your university career. When you’re writing your first essay you are just plunging in without much idea of how you're meant to write and what is expected of your essay. Trust me when I say that essay grades always become better with hard work and determination, and soon you'll be getting 2:1s and 1sts without too much of a struggle. A 2:2 is still a good grade compared to what a lot of other people would have gotten for their first essay. A 2:2 will also be brought up in your general average by the end of term/year by your better grades. Just keep working hard and don't let this get you down!
Nicola Everett I’m a second year English Lit and Creative Writing student! Very scared for my first essay submissions in two weeks ahhh (knowing that it actually counts). Feel like I may have peaked in first year?? 😂😅
Could you explain how does this grade system work? I'm not from UK and I had had only 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 scale (6 is the highest mark) and now in uni 2,3,4,5 (5 is the highest)
Jessie Maisie Dont worry - we've all been there! After a summer away from university, going into second year from the first feels like a bigger academic jump than going from sixth form/college to university. I personally felt that I had completely forgotten how to even write essays. The thing is, first year may not ”count” but it does prove to you that you are capable of working hard and getting rewarded for it, and in that respect second year will treat you the exact same! Naturally as you go through uni it may become harder and harder to get really good grades (and people love to tell you that), but what they don't tell you is that you naturally get better and better academically without even realising! If you don't believe me, just take a look back at essays you wrote 2 years ago - you can see the mistakes and how they don't compare at all to something you'd write now. You will naturally get better at essays and all this worry will be for nothing. Everyone gets this worry and everyone proves themselves wrong so don't worry about it - just work hard, do all the reading (yes all of it haha) and have confidence in yourself. If you weren't ”good enough” to survive uni then you wouldn't have gotten in! You've got this!!! If you ever want to talk about this more, message me on Instagram at @nicolaever I'm always up for helping out or reading through someone’s work to ease stress! Xx
Dominika Koglin ok so I have noooo idea about the numbering system you have but the way that English universities tend to do it is with the grades: fail, 3rd, 2:2, 2:1 and first (going up in calibre in that order). The grade boundaries might be considered low in comparison to other university systems in other countries (a first which is the equal to an A* is rewarded at 70/100 marks, so 70%), however it is expected that marks are harder to get than in other countries. So you're awarded a first at 70%, a 2:1 at 60%, a 2:2 at 50% (all considered reputable marks). Your university is going to worry however I you consistently dip below those marks into the territory of getting a 3rd (40%) or a fail (30% or below). Sorry if any of this info is wrong, as an English student I'm really not good with numbers haha. I think it tends to be as well that a first is considered an A*, a 2:1 is considered a high B/A, a 2:2 is considered a B/C, a third is considered a D and anything below that is a fail....that might be wrong but that's the gist that I've gotten! :)
Thank you soo much Nicoletta Everett! I just couldn't figure out what 2:2 means, I thought that maybe you get two grades (f.ex. one for ideas, one for the form or smth 😂). Thanks for explaining it so clearly!
everyone is saying she overreacted 😂 she legit just cried for a bit and then realized that everything would be ok. it’s normal to react that way when your efforts didn’t pay off like you thought they would. it’s her future and it can be stressful.
The marks you get in your first year don't even count towards your final degree so don't even worry about it! If you wanna take chances and test the ground, now's the time to do it :)

As a third year university student, my advice is that you need to realise that high school is not the same standard as university, you cannot rely on your academic success in high school to dictate your success in university, as hard as that may sound because I know you're a hard worker, many of my friends have gone through what you are currently experiencing, they were top of their class in high school and now averaging at 60%-70%. And there's nothing wrong with that, because life cannot remain easy, how else will you grow and mature? but you cannot let this hold you back from adapting and continuing to bettering yourself at university! Once you get a hang of the system your marks will flourish again. I'm an A average student at university so I understand its disheartening but crying won't fix the mark, just do much better on the next essay to counter the lower mark, I have a few Bs/ Cs here and there but I make sure to come back stronger on the next test / assignment x

University is the perfect place to test the ground - a 2:2 is still fantastic grade for a first essay and if you went into uni getting 2:1s and Firsts straight away it would mean you weren't learning things! Good luck with the rest of your essays, but I want to emphasize that a 2:2 really isn't a bad grade! And when you do get your first 2:1 it'll be far more rewarding (speaking as a second year student) x
hatterell what do you mean by it would mean you’re not learning things exactly? Because you can still improve even if you got high grades right?

Hey hatterell fancy seeing you on this comment section!
“The master has failed more times than the novice has even tried.”
there is nothing wrong with failing, just know that the person who gives up is the real failure.
Hi Ruby, needed to revisit this video to remind myself that I'm human and flawed. Today I received disappointing results on a really important exam. I've rarely done so poorly, and I was so shocked and disappointed. I'm grateful that you show us the raw side of yourself receiving disappointing results, and that you had the courage to upload. Watching this video really resonated with me. You are my favourite
Aw
When you’re an engineering student and you have to write one essay
LMAO
THIS.
Girl a 2:2 is great for a first essay!! Don't you worry, I have no doubts that you'll get a 2:1 or a first by the end of your degree. I was still getting used to the university way of writing up until the second half of second year. That's why third year is such a high percentage of your grade - they expect you to not be "used" to university writing yet. It's not more difficult, but it's different and definitely takes time to get used to. You'll get used to it soon, don't doubt yourself!
J B whats a 2:2 or 2:1?
ive always been graded #/100
@@ktam111696 a 3rd is 40%, 2:2 is 50%, 2:1 is 60%, a first is 70%+
Thank you for your honesty!!!! StudyTube should be about the reality of studying, which includes good and worse grades, and not about obly being successful! Plus, I think if you'd got the top mark for your first essay, it would have maybe shown that uni didn't have much to teach you... I am just worried that the professor marking it didn't realise / appreciate the gamble you were taking.
Oh bless her. As a mother, it makes me terribly sad to see her so disappointed. You succeed and excel in so many things, pet!! You keep working hard, you’ve done so well and inspired so many!
when she started crying i thought that meant she got a 3rd
I didn't even submit my first few essays because I was so scared I am doing something wrong and embarass myself. But practice and good feedback really helps. Also, every professor or lecturer has a different perspective on things so you never know. Some are quite unconventional and encourage students in taking new approaches and doing things differently than it is used to. But others are just hardcore old-school profs who want to see what they have seen for the last fifty years and nothing else. I would even say that grades are the least important things in university. It is what you learn for yourself and how you grow and how you implement old knowledge into something new. Good luck Ruby and everybody.
ratljost ratljost yeah, this is really good advice. Thanks for sharing
ratljost ratljost yeah me neither I didn’t hand mine in
honey let me tell you something. don't expect to see the grades you're used to at school in college. It's not your fault really. That's how college is. You need to realize that you're doing the best you can, whatever comes after is out of your hand. I was like you in my first college years, but I realized grade don't matter as much as the knowledge and the experience and somethings just happen and it's fine.
i second this.
i know this vid. was posted 1 year ago but stilll don't cry ruby, i feel bad for you.
like girl, this makes me cry!
you are so brave for posting this - thank you for being so real and remember everything happens for a reason!! x
*DON'T WORRY, YOU DESERVE THE BEST💕*
You've used your first semester well. Definitely not a waste of time. You'll benefit in the Long run taking a chance cos you'll have a better idea of what your lecturers are looking for. Also, most people just learn what they need to pass whereas you take more time to actually understand the materials meaning you will benefit way more than people who study selectively just to get the grade they need.
Yes 🙌🏻 so, so true!
My mom if I got a bad grade:
It must be that phone ..
soooo i'm a spanish literature student in my fourth year of college here in spain and i'll tell you my first mark was a 3,5/10 LOL and now my average score is 9,3/10! You will get used to college and it will get better x
Heejadee Torn key words ‘here in spain’
Heejadee Torn you know all languages have literature...

You should never cry about your grades. Grades do NOT define who you are. And most billionaires today got low or mid grades. Hell, some of the most succesful people quit school.
Don’t worry about grades, just do what feels best for you, don’t try to please your teachers or anyone else by getting good grades!
Tobias wish that was my mentality but it’s just too complicated lmao
She's not you. Everyone is different. Everyone react in a different way and that's totally fine. Stop invalidating others people feelings.
strawberry jam LMFAOO LITERALLY THO😂😂😂😂
Without good grades, you can't get into university and be the success you want to be.
Sonia Liciaga Keep telling yourself that. It is just not true. If you don’t work you wont achieve anything
Hey Ruby I just wanted to say that what you're feeling is TOTALLY normal!! First year is the time to experiment and find what works for you! Also i can confirm that the drop in marks from a level to uni is so devastating...i went from getting 80s and 90s to suddenly seeing a 60 on my essays and it was not easy!! But it becomes the new normal don't worry :) and i find it's so helpful to share disappointing marks as well as great marks because no one is perfect and so many people can relate!! good luck with the rest of your essays this year :)
I'm currently watching this while waiting for a midterm grade...and I am extremely anxious
Youssef Helmy that’s should make you study harder
Aw omg Ruby I'm watching while typing this, seeing you cry makes me so upset :(
Ruby don't give up, you will get better and better at it, see this as a learning opportunity 💞💞
I used to cry so much because I practiced so hard for my math and I still get bad grades. I really wanted to give up but then I kept on going. My math grades are still bad, but it's getting better and better💞💞💞
I love you Ruby and ill always support you and ill always be supporting you❤️❤️❤️
Why are people saying she overreacted? Just because you wouldn’t react the same way doesn’t mean you have the right to make her feel like shit.
Yes her grade isn’t that bad but it’s bad compared to her expectations and the work she put into it. She has the RIGHT to feel upset and she will bounce back from it.
I failed my first semester during my first year of college because it was a new system, I was a foreigner, and I compensated with my second and got my year. And I understand her frustration, because you set these high expectations of yourself based on your school grades and you’re crushed when they’re not met. But that’s okay, life is more than a grade even if it’s hard to acknowledge.
This grade disappointed her and the fact she had the guts to put it on TH-cam and show a vulnerable side is amazing and she shouldn’t be judged for it
And just to add to your thoughtful words, she's clearly someone that puts her whole into her schoolwork, like this is her thing.. of course she's gonna be upset by a bad grade. Just like if someone lost their volleyball game
She needs to realize that just because SHE thinks she deserves a good mark, it doesn’t mean she really does. For all we know her essay could have been complete crap
Exactly, this video in particular has gained alot of hate which she doesn't usually get. Haters were waiting for that one time where they can bring her down clearly in reality she is brave for posting this video.
Wtf are you saying i couldnt find a single "you are overreacting" comment
shut up, it was funny.
Just woke up 5 seconds ago at 5am because my dog woke me up and then you uploaded
It was fate 😂😂
Definitely watching this now
Oh no, Ruby:((( Don’t let one essay bring you down!! I know how this feels, but you have to know that you are so incredible and not at all a failure.

i know this video is quite old, but i admire you for sharing your genuine reaction & vulnerability with us, ruby ✨ you’re amazing & i’m sure you did amazing on the next essay!
Hey, don't cry, this is your first mark! When I came to High School for the first time, I started an english speciality, and my first mark in english was 8/20 and now I am 17/20. Please remind that nothing was ever accomplished with tears, work for it, and I know you will have a better mark next time♡
I don`t get why are people attacking you saying that this is ABNORMAL BEHAVIOUR. So you cried a little bit over a grade. You are allowed, you worked for it. For me, your reaction wasn`t that bad, you weren`t rolling on the floor and crying hysterically - now that is abnormal behaviour. People are shit.
It's okay don't cry ull do better
Asian middleschooler: ah yeh I know that feeling
Who doesn't?
ye
Europeans think the same.
Canadian does
Ik how that feels being a middleschooler
Honestly your so brave to share this. I know whenever I get a bad grade I react the same as you. I never share my bad grades with anyone. But your just so strong and confident in yourself for sharing this♥️
You inspire me so much. You are one of the most decent people on TH-cam that are left. You don’t linger on things in the past and pick yourself up and move on. Thank you for inspiring us. X
University is way different than school. It's hard when you have exellent marks in school than come to university and get a bad mark especially if you put so much time and effort in it. Don't discourage yourself, it happens to literaly everyone. Don't worry much about it and keep up the good work cause you truly inspire me☺️(Sorry for bad grammar)
It’s breaking my heart seeing others be so hard on you when you showed yourself feeling down. Everyone gets upset and it takes a lot of courage to show that side of your life. Ruby you are so wonderful and brave for showing the negative with the positive.
It's not a waste of time. I'm first year at uni too and I got a low 2.1 in my first assignment. You're at uni to learn, it's like beginning school again. It's totally different to anything you've done before and you've done well for the first essay! If you were getting high grades during your first semester, you wouldn't be paying for education, you'd be paying for knowledge you already know. Keep your head up high, brush it off and continue trying your best. It'll pay off.
Ruth Croft I agree, I’m a first year at uni too and my first assignment wasn’t so good because I messed up with referencing and I honestly thought I did good but ended up with 40%. But at the end of the day you learn from your mistakes and thanks to that I’m doing so much better than before and right now I don’t regret that assignment! ☺️
Por que sigue 🤔😑😲 jajajajajajajaj
Awww Ruby, this broke my heart! I love your positive attitude towards it, keep inspiring people!
why r u guys saying shes overreacting, she worked so hard on it
It feels like these days, school isn’t about learning anymore, it’s about passing your tests and exams...
You got exactly the point. Teachers don't give a shit about you, your difficulties, your progress in learning. They just give you slides to study, prepare tests and correct them. If you pass the tests fine, otherwise it's your own business. Sad but true.
School just teaches you bunch of informations and then test if u remembered anything. Usually students forget about it the day after exams.
Life is way too short for this
Toni T what?
Your life will be long and boring without the right grades, but yeh their is more to life then grades, but if that means a lot to ppl I support them

exactly. school is a huge waste of time and i dont care about any of my grades.

I graduated this year and can assure you that a 2:2 at this point is really good! You’re on the right track, and you’re very early on in your Uni experience. A Uni essay is so so different to A Level and not doing so well really helps you improve and learn what you enjoy writing and what your strong points and weaknesses are! I came out with a 2:1 from a Russell Group Uni and got a few 2:2s in First Year! First Year is the opportunity to try things out, experiment in your writing and make mistakes, that’s what it’s there for! You’re doing great, Ruby! ☺️❤️
Hunny not everything you’re gonna get is perfect. You did fabulous🖤
This is just so relatable. Thank you for your courage to share it.
Baby don't cry, it's just your first essay. I joined a French law school where I was competing with native speaker (I learned it in 6 months) whom already knew the difficult French methodology of writing, I failed and repeated 2 years cause I was not motivated; my marks where 2/20 and the highest was 7/20, my failure and seeing people my age and younger graduating and attend their graduation while I was at the same place pushed me so I worked non-stop every night every holiday, every Christmas and Easter break I graduated with honours and I finished my Masters as a top student and now I am working and doing my Ph.D. at the same time. You got this and YOU CAN DO THIS. Sending you Major support all the way from across the world
Anyone who's been to college/university understands her. You wanna do amazing on that first score because it's easy to lower the overall grade but it's sooo freaking hard to raise it! I cried when I got my first "bad" mark as well.
You are like my favorite TH-cam and I am 13 and I always look up to you and use your study methods. Please stay strong and don’t be so hard on yourself.I know you will do better. Life is like a mountain , and there will always be some bumpy obstacles along the way , you just need to get over it and keep going till you reach the top .I hope you will keep doing positive study videos because I have been watching your videos ever since I was 11. Love you
Looking back at this video, you have grown so much Ruby
I really appreciate that you are open enough to share such personal moments !
2:13 I just wanted to hug her 💔💔
i got a 2:2 on my first university essay, I was absolutely devastated and felt exactly the same... but if we don't fail we can't learn and that's what I always remind myself with now
I know this video is 4 years old now, but maybe someone in the comment section will find it useful one day. In Poland we have a saying that goes "Uczeń bez 2 jest jak żołnierz bez karabinu" (which translates to "A student without a 2 is like a soldier without his weapon"). For the context, 2 is the lowest mark you can get at a Polish university while 5 is the highest. My parents would remind me this sentence every time I was upset about a bad mark and for me it was very helpful because I didn't feel like a failure myself. Remember that you can always correct the bad mark or, if not, you will do better next time :) And as a uni graduate I can assure you that when you finish school no one will ever ask you about that one test you failed. So don't be too hard on yourselves and keep your chins up!
I relate to this reaction so much... its hard not to let your grades define yourself. A message to everyone: you are worth more than a bad grade! We got this!
Look at her now …. She’s an Oxford student 😌
Don't cry (although I have been there too!) It wasn't a waste of time, uni is so different to A levels, they are looking for different things and you will learn how to play to "their rules". Try and keep your chin up!
I love watching these and then seeing how far she's come!!!!
2:36 I have totally felt that multiple times in grade 10. I've finally got the motivation to change my grade, studied, and actually understood the lessons, then when I do the test/exam, I completely just doubt every answer I put. When I get my mark back, I would expect my efforts to pay off but they don't... sadly :( I compare myself to my friends that have the marks that I want and just completely go down a rabbit hole.
It's sad to experience but I just gotta keep on swimming (1. Dory reference >.< 2. I don't know how to swim XD)
Same here,it takes time ,took me 2 yrs but now i can study a whole few lesson units within two hours 😉😊
A 2:2 is 50-59. That's... still good? At my uni a 40 is a pass. At least you didn't fail it! And it's first year so it doesn't count towards your final degree classification. You have time to work harder and besides, it's your first essay. Just reflect on the things you did badly on and use that to help you in future assignments. :)
Alice's Traveltube at my Uni you pass if you get over 60% :O and there are no re-takes during the year, so if you fail some of the core subjects you have one chance to rewrite the exam, but only if you failed no more than certain amount of subjects/credit point - otherwise you are kicked out :o otherwise I agree - take it with a grain of salt, get feedback and move on - it's a good learning experience, as you go along you grow and look with fondness on all those moments. More is to come.
wtf only 40? in my school, 75% is a pass.
@@tessahey9271 40% in UK universities for undergraduates
My god...

I mean your thinking is so good to share your failure and saying in the end that failure is not the end of life.
