I'll never forget being at my LGS chatting with the owner; some guy walks in; buys s booster box of set 2; grabs the Gundam box topper and simply walked away without touching the rest of the box.
🤣
It's sad but we kinda were waiting on this. It's still really sad. I think the promotion of " okay this game and win millions of dollars' was just bad
I don't think it's because it wasn't a good game but the advertising set high expectations for the rest of the life of this game and then they poured everything into one piece, Digimon, Dragonball, now Gundam and Union arena
I'm NGL either star wars unlimited and lorcana both seem like average games only popular because that have the licenses. But I heard bss actually was amazing mechanic wise
@@TruAbsoluteZer0
It's actually have good mechanic. Like core went other TCG presure you like attack you live some don't give you advantage to comback.
But in battle spirit you have more resource went opponent attacking you. The more long the game take the more wild you and your opponent can play your card. That can't be say for other TCG.
@@4N4NG_R480 yeah that's why I was saying it has good mechanics apparently but because it's not connected to a ip it died.
@@TruAbsoluteZer0 It's pretty sad that apparently for a tcg to be a thing it needs to be made out of cheap screenshots of some random anime.
From my local, the biggest problem was that all the BSS players were JP Battle Spirits players already. We knew the game was fun and we had nostalgia because we all watched the Battle Spirits anime that never made its way to the west. The anime was the hook for those of us who had played it and I still thinks the fact they didn't bother brining the anime over from Japan back when it was first released WAS the reason it keeps on failing. There was a whole generation of JP player base who grew up watching Battle Spirits, but the same doesn't exist in the west.
As someone who gives even the most obscure tcgs a chance, i did not even want to touch the game. There literally was no lure for me. Bandai spread itself too thin. Also tcg players rarely play more than 2 games, some only play one. You cant cannibalize your own sales and playerbase. When i started playing one piece, i started spending less on digimon.
I swear this game would blow up if it wasn't a bandai game. This is twice now they have failed this game.
Bandai making too many TCGs instead of focusing on a core 3
I feel like they handled the game poorly. while i had no connection to it, i really wanted to try it. almost impossible to find product for me in a populated east coast us city.
I think they cannibalized themselves with their other tcgs on this one. Shame for those who loved it but hopefully thats a little more focus on their other ips
Yeah union arean eat all possible collab for battle spirit saga. Now with gundam TCG i don't know if they still make gundam deck in union arena or not.
It doesnt help this card game was super complicated to learn. It's not easy to get into when you have to study a shit ton of rules to even understand how to play it
Its not beginner friendly. And honestly, because of that i saw this coming. Thats why card games like digimon succeed so well. When your tcg is easy to jump into, people are gonna play it
Thats also why other tcgs have lasted as long as they have
nah this game is really ez to learn, the rule was not even that much. They just need to watch the anime first to understand then play the game, and btw its not about the game, its about how bandai treat this game
@buquan7093 when Ive been playing tcgs for a decade and still cant figure out how to play your game, thats an issue
What makes other card games successful is how easy it is to jump into. Theres too much going on with bss, too many rules to remember and too much to keep track of.
It has to be beginner friendly, otherwise no one is gonna want to get into it.
So, when even I can't figure out how to play this card game, thats pretty bad
@@IcefireC67
Battle Spirit not so complicated compare to Vanguard or Wixoss. Your win is to make opponent lose all 5 core/life.
It's easy to track and have back and forward interaction. They just have (really) bad marketing.
I think Bandai made two horrible mistakes with this game. First they offered a bunch of money to advertise. That only brings in the spike crowd. No incentive for the casuals.
Second Bandai produces TOO MANY GAMES! They cannibalize themselves. This isn’t Japan. Where people play more than two TCGs.
I really don’t think Flesh and Blood had anything to do with this games death. Fab players are not the same type of gamer who is intrigued with BSS. This game has completely different gameplay and art. Bandai is not an indie company.
Now release a Nartuo tcg game so i can go broke
I wonder if there's a Bandai TCG Graveyard list somewhere including every time they've relaunched Dragon Ball.
Spoilres, that one is probably gonna end up there again.
This is quite sad to hear honestly. The game itself alongside it's worldbuilding had my complete interest gotta be honest. It looked like a very unique card game which caught my attention on wanting to give it a chance and finding a community to play with in my area. I thought they handled the promo of the game really well though from what I saw through the years. To bad how it has to end like this for them.
It’s a good thing, Bandai can now focus on their core games
Resources will just go to the new Gundam tcg instead. I'm excited for it but if this is any indication it may not have the staying power of one piece.
Bandai truly is cannibalizing thier own games
Goodbye battle spirit and welcome gundam tcg🗿
For 2 years then they shut it down.
@@elin111gunna come back to this comment in 2 years. Clearly havent seen or played the game
This. I think BSS officially died because of Gundam TCG (but I admit I hadn't thought of Flesh and Blood until Wossy brought it up). I think Bandai wanted something with an IP that was 100% (or at least 95%-someone please check me on this) theirs so that they could do what YGO and M:tG were doing: have an original property mostly within their copyright zone that would let them set up prizing however they wanted.
As far as I can tell, Bandai owns Gundam almost entirely, now. (Bandai owns Sunrise, the studio that animates Gundam. They aren't even called Sunrise, anymore!) Maybe the original author has a say, but as per Wikipedia, "As of March 2020, the franchise is fully owned by Bandai Namco Holdings through subsidiaries Sotsu and Sunrise." This isn't the case with One Piece or Digimon.
In other words, when I saw Gundam getting a TCG, I went "yup, Battle Spirits Saga is done." And I'm one of the people who wanted to believe in the original BatSpi at Bandai's first Western release.
Gundam TCG looks so bland in comparison
@@Diomenesx “looks.” You cant harp on it if you havent tried it. I was the same way but fell in love with the game
Hopefully with this it will free up resources so that we can get same release dates for OPTCG so that all of the world can play similar metas.
They did end up syncing digimon releases, but they had to do catch-up condensed sets. I wonder if they will ever attempt it in one piece, they've proven that it's doable
Trash game
@@Thestar17x who hurt you
Can't wait for optcg chuds to praise bandai till powercreep kills their game,it won't last as long as battle spirits had in japan
Damm 3 time global/English release and 3 time flop.
I guess this is fate at this point.
2 battle spirits in the west
What’s going on with attack on titan I love those cards
And I loved this game
BUY BUY BUY
Well. Back to Digimon.
I still have my pre release demo kit. Never opened it lol
lol…come play OP!!!
Trash game
My entire locals went to the first big event in Ohio. Balance is what killed the game. Axebiter decks and Dinos killed it super early for my lgs.
Wow. Wasted promo at card fest
Me. NoNoNo
not surprised, bss was one of the worst tcg's ive ever played and was an obvious cash grab
Yea ok liar
Honestly they should stop all of their games except one piece
Please no. Union arena is so fun 😅
Golden child of bandai😂
hell no. Digimon is doing well
@@BussiDestroyer digimon is ass bro wtf are you talking about
@@JohnnySilverhand-qz1fz What are YOU talking about. One Piece managed to dumb down the system Digi had
Just opened a bss02 box, then I wanted to check something about the game, and boom! Cancelled.
This is my luck 🥲
