Lizzie Peirce kind of feels like you’re filling the hole Casey Neistat has left. Like you say, so much is overproduced and I honestly just skip these vlogs that don’t feel real.
Great motivating video. I took daily vlogs for five years, but then I began to do it less often. I began to think that it’s difficult to grow a channel if you do vlogs. Now I shoot for 2 or 3 days in one vlog. But I really like the example of Lizzie - weekly vlogs. Moreover, I have been thinking for a week about how to make a vlog on the phone and not on a real camera. Making vlogs about my life since 2012, I ran into the problem: "What should I call a vlog. After all, a lot of events happened in it." And for me, the choice of a name and a picture always remains painful. Cody, thanks for the video!
I loved how natural this video felt. Less edits, with a great, "having a sit down with friends" vibe. And the subject is something you both have a passion for, and it really shows in the video. This may be the best yt video I have seen this year. Thanks you two!
Congrats on 60k Cody! And two amazing people I know talking about video stuffs makes me happy. Great takes on this concept, I've noticed a lot of people talking about cell phone footage more.
Watching this I was thinking, "Sure, phone camera quality is more than you need, but you still have to compose it well, light it well, etc." Then Lizzie talks about how ENGAGING the channel that isn't shot well is, and I remember what I always forget when I'm shooting: It's so much more about the personality and real-ness on YT than it is anything else. Thanks for the reminder, Lizzie and Cody! 👊
There is definitely something to say about the authenticity and convenience of using a phone. I just returned from a week at Disney for a theatrical competition in which I debated whether to haul around my good gear or just use my phone. In the end I decided it was more about the story and less about the gear...so now I have enough footage for my most recent short documentary and my next 7 channel episodes, all shot on an iPhone. This was good confirmation, thanks for posting!
You two are such a lovely creator duo! Thank you so much for this. The info was reassuring and the vibe + flow were super cozy, my favorite adjective🤗 thanks again!
There's still such a weird stigma around shooting on a cellphone, but they're so easy to use and virtually everyone has one in their pocket all the time, it seems silly to not use them. Lugging around a full frame camera, and joby isn't always possible...so we say, Free The Phone!! Great video Cody, and Lizzie!!
Even though I have a DSLR, I've been using my phone for everything lately just because I always have it on me, there's little to no setup time, and it's less intimidating to others around you who aren't used to being on camera.
Very great point Lizzie! Definitely would stand out with lower quality. As long as the story and consistency is on point. I’ve used my iPhone before too and it absolutely works. Convenient for sure.
Its more convenient on the phone and really most people don't care about REALLY good quality. Most notice the editing styles and personalities. My viral ones were crap camera and crap editing! Great job and I first found out about you watching Peter's channel and the collab you guys did!
I so enjoy vlogs for the same reasons Lizzie said. I really enjoy her vlog too. The one thing that I don't really appreciate with cell phone is the audio. But other than that, they are great to film with!
Ok first off, Luna is sooooo darn cute! 😍Loved to hear the reasoning behind phone vs pro camera on Lizzie's vlogs. I love her vlogs and this helped to understand her thought process (which is something I love as a creator)
Great conversation. I have allowed myself to get crippled by ”right” again. I love how this felt like I was sitting in another chair in the room hanging with you guys. Thanks for this!
I agree with the idea of using what works in the moment. A phone does often hit that good enough mark for what I do too. It's fine if people want to have some higher level of quality that matches their preferences, but like she was saying, it can hinder productivity. Nice video as usual!
Maybe you can create more movies like those? You seem to be so natural in interviewing / asking questions, such an honest and natural conversation you've created!
Good video. I have the Sony A7III and the GH5 for my corporate video work. However I use my iphone 11pro max and Samsung Galaxy s10plus for my vlogs. Great subject!! 👍🏼👍🏼
I noticed the real/raw look of Lizzie's vlogs but honestly didn't realize some parts where shot on a phone! Same happened with Teppo's Haapoja's vlog, didn't know he used his iphone before he revealed it. Seems like you don't need expensive mirrorless or dslr cameras to make great content!
I make almost all my videos on my phone even though I have an ok camera. It’s honestly just so handy having my phone right there with me, easier to film and talk on camera. I do notice the quality is not as good but it’s more spontaneous and feels more real.
❤️ two of my fave creators talking about one of my favourite topics! Totally geeking out here - just got back from the Apple store filming some b-roll for my new video dropping this weekend! Perfect timing guys. Thank you! Btw I legit got kicked out of the store for filming in there - lol got my shots tho...on my phone no less.
I so believe in phone filmmaking and doing everything on a phone that I dedicated all my channel for that recently! We focus a lot on the looks that we forget about the story! I started my channel with a phone and I so believe that it's possible specially with phones cameras nowadays!
We need more of Cody Wanner 😄 just missing those crazy daily vlogs Cody... Insta stories do help us get some good things out of it but may be more of them would be better. Coz I still can’t get over the daily vlogs. Need a dose of Cody wanner and coffee everyday
Damn, this would be the first time. You uploaded, I got a notification and bam I am the 1st one on this planet to watch this vid. BTW I am going crazy, watching the way your content took a whole new different level. Really glad.
Aye cody big up...Great vid...ur fav youtuber bro...lizze content is great...i love vlogging too...have wonderful day and god bless u bro...btw story telling at the base.i learned alot from u guys...
Lizzie you are so encouraging! I love ❤️ how at 7:31 you were telling your upstairs neighbors that they are #1!! Funny thing is many people tell me the same way when I’m driving 😀😂😂. Seriously can you reply with a link to your channel and blog please. 👍 Thanks.
Yeah, I just started on TH-cam two weeks ago...intentionally. But I definitely find myself using my phone and camera on regular basis. ANYWAYS, this is good stuff!
This is great! I'm now at a point where I can afford to spend more on a camera, but I'm not sure that I can spend the editing time to make that a worthwhile jump. It looks like my next purchase will be an iphone 11 and after that the phones might have taken over the world anyways. My content is more localized and it's the story and the journey much more than the visuals that have captured people's attention and helped me to gain a following. It's become cliche now, but documentation has just as much value as 'creative' endeavors and still has the potential to spark more creativity in the world around you just the same.
People are shocked when they find out my "camera" is my phone. Use it for all our videos...scenery, how to's of RV living, talking to our viewers...all done with my Samsung S 10. I have to say though, I liked my S8 better in some ways. Thanks for making me feel better about not using a real camera!
Cody Wanner no ways. That’s crazy. I just shot in log on my camera for the first time in a while. I think the overall better image compensated for any resolution issues? Maybe? Anyway, I did watch this Lizzie vid on my phone, but it just looked great. Score one more for the R 🙄
If all you have is your phone it shouldn't stop you from making good content with story, if you can tell the story well then the gear used becomes secondary, just my thoughts.
Finally spilled the beans on the reason behind phone footage in my vlogs! Great topic Cody! Miss your face!
who is this vlogger that you're talking about?
Lizzie Peirce kind of feels like you’re filling the hole Casey Neistat has left. Like you say, so much is overproduced and I honestly just skip these vlogs that don’t feel real.
YES! Keep it REAL!
LOOOOOOVE it!!!

This was so great!! I love the phone for a more raw behind the scenes look!
👏🏼👏🏼❤️❤️🙏🏼🙏🏼

Continuously excited by how good phone cameras look nowadays. For a huge part of social media content, phone quality video is MORE than enough!
Congrats on 60k Cody! And two amazing people I know talking about video stuffs makes me happy. Great takes on this concept, I've noticed a lot of people talking about cell phone footage more.
Cody & Lizzie & lunar - dream team. Newer smartphones are basically all a TH-cam needs. Pleased this conversation is happening.
Agree
What a nice surprise to see you two in the same video! Really liked this discussion about phones vs cameras.
What a duo - love it.

Just ended my TH-cam LIVE and now enjoying Cody's content! Somehow just feel that Cody, PM, Lizzie, Chris, Matti are related hahahahaha
I'll never tell!
Love Lizzie’s point on authenticity - PREACH GIRL
Great conversation. I have allowed myself to get crippled by ”right” again. I love how this felt like I was sitting in another chair in the room hanging with you guys. Thanks for this!
Good words again big guy! I have always tried to tell friends that want to start to stay PERSONABLE!

Loved both of the videos and I see the point of the cell phone footage. I might have to consider this more often as an option. thx guys.

Great idea about incorporating cellphone video into client work!! Switch up the beat. I’m totally going to pull this off.
Great conversation!
Excellent points and 100% agree. Thx for sharing!
Perfect timing for these insights for me as I get closer to starting my channel with my iPhone! Thank you!
Love this subject. I am thinking about adopting my phone footage into my channel. Thanks for the inspiration.
This was like a dope podcast! I loved this video.
Two amazing creators in one vid! Love it 👊🏼

BREAKING: Cody Wanner doesn't believe Phones are real! More at 11.
😂👏🏼😂
Ha! I had the same thought!

Omg I came down here to write that at 6:30 it felt like an amazing pod I was listening to. Then as I'm typing you said it for me 😆
Haha yes!!!!!
Obviously I’m going to ask if this is shot in c-log on the R... looks great.
Haha yes it is! And dude, get this. I had to crop in like CRAZY. Entire interview shot is cropped in like 150%
*from HD - cropped in from HD

I second that, Joe!
Jokes on Lizzie, I use a joby with a massive DSLR and a Rode VideoMicro! No massive rode mic for me!
who is "her"? Lizzie is referring to? AWESOME as always Cody!
Maaan I have a note 9 and it has a pro mode. Its surprisingly good almost too good thankfully it only takes photos in that mode
💡☕️👏
Who is the fashion vlogger Lizzie mentions so we can see phone footage in a vlog?
Cant stop watching that cutie 🐈 😍😍
What was this video shot on?
Canon Eos R
The cat steals all the attention XD
👍🏼📲💰😎
100,000 Lizzie!! Congrats!! I keep unsubbing and resubbing, just hoping you are watching … hehehehehehe
real camera all the way
This comment is totally underproduced.
Ok you need to have an animal on all your vlogs now...
My phone camera sucks, so that's a no for me. haha
FIRST! HAHA
