- As much as I don't like Super Castlevania IV, Simon's theme in that game was... meh. Kinda funny that the main theme of SCV4 only got good by the next game it was in, Castlevania: Bloodlines.

@@marcosgalvis3498 Well, my opinion is that of all of the castlevania games I have played, my favorite is super castlevania IV because it had a lot of improvements to the series.

I'm gonna pretend that description doesn't exists because all original Castlevanias are great and Simon's theme in IV is a¡so good (Chronicles being the best).

Normally, Konami tracks literally only use six channels, leaving the other two for sound effects, but that only makes this song sound a bit better.
Well to be honest with you, this is my favorite castlevania song in existence. Why, well let me tell you.
This song is heroic, exciting, and fitting for infiltrating Dracula's castle and this is perfect for fighting his 2nd form.
I love this theme! The soundtrack is one of the reasons why Castlevania IV is awesome!

I've scarcely been more seen by a comments section, not gonna lie. I will admit bias, as SCVIV is one of the first Games I played in general, let alone Castlevania Games. I will say that there does not really exist a bad version of Simon's theme, but I will also say that I personally prefer the intro that IV's version has. I think it makes a stronger start. Plus the bassline is super (heh) prominent in IV's, and I am a sucker for Bass getting the spotlight in songs and allowing it to carry some weight.
That out of the way, this joins the ranks of Simon themes as one of the good ones, which is basically all of them. No real complaints on instrument choice or anything. Just a solidly great cover all around.

Sweet cover, Hooded Edge. I never played Castlevania 4, but my favorite version of Simon’s theme came from Chronicles (X68000). The fanfare parts sound very heroic, and are the parts I replayed the most!
Recently got the Anniversary Collection, and played 4. It’s pretty good (I love the soundtrack and atmosphere), but I also love the original (CV1) and Vampire Killer (MSX). Simon Belmont Forever!
Why do some playlists call it "Dance of the Holy Man"? Far as I know, Konami's never used that title.

I believe 'Dance of the Holy Man' was the name given to this track as it appeared in the OST for Akumajou Dracula for the X68000 (Castlevania Chronicles for the PS1, which has a VERY epic version, if you haven't heard it). There are some differences in the way that version of the song is composed when compared to 'Theme of Simon'. A prominent example would be the intro. Think of 'Dance of the Holy Man' as a remix to 'Theme of Simon' in a way.

I really want more remixes of this version of Simon's theme because while I do like the original this one has so much more of a "Legend coming back to save the world" feel to it I love it also the nickname for the remix "Bane of Tepes" is a awesome nickname that I haven't seen used before

@@firestriker3580 you post omega cringe. SNES sound chip is cheeks, it's at it's best when the fans use it to do things the SNES itself couldn't do. Even the much maligned GBA soundchip is better if you ask me. Genesis has the better sound chip, it's just much harder to use. Only top notch composers can make the best of it. And Bloodlines is some of the best shit on the Genesis, including this composition of Simon's theme.
Symphony of the Night and Rondo of Blood are both peak, and on non nintendo consoles. So bloodlines, odd story anomalies aside, is just as valid as all other Castlevania games. Hell, it's a more sound game than Super 4 overall, better level design, better enemy AI, a much faster pace, has innovations from rondo of blood as well as the 4th level of whip/spear which is an innovative mechanic that rewards skilled whip usage, perfect dodging, and subammo resource management. (Though tbh if it had the limp whip mechanic on a 4th button that'd be really nice.) A mechanic that hasn't returned since, and is much more balanced than the 8 way whip. Since this game was essentially the last traditional castlevania to come out. In that way, it holds up next to rondo even, let alone Super 4. Which is more of a power trip than anything. A rom hack of that game that makes you and the enemies move much faster would make that game much more fun and up to snuff with Bloodlines, the speed is the major problem really. Though the sheer size of the whip is not too far behind. Put in bloodline's rule where you have to be in the air to attempt diagonals and it'd be at least a bit better.
All in all, you are posting cringe, and you will lose subscriber. Mediocre day, my bad sir.

You re allowed to not like CVIV for sure lol. It's never felt like a real CV to me. Way too easy, OST is so atmospheric and not CV-y. If people like it that's totally cool though, tho I'm always like man have you played Rondo???

thank you, I really needed this. it's refreshing to finally hear another version of Simon's Theme instead a derivate from IV, it's not that I don't like it I just think it's a bit... overused, specially when the Bloodlines and X68000 version is better.
Just curious tho, why you dislike CV IV?
Thought the gameplay was a massive betrayal to the formula that was established in previous (and especially improved upon in future entries). I don't think the game being an "easier" CV is necessarily a bad thing, but CV4 is an example of accessibility gone too far. Gameplay felt incredibly boring and the level design didn't help that in the slightest. Plus, most of the environments, while technically impressive for an early SNES game, look incredibly dull and forgettable.
I know I'm in the minority when it comes to this, and I would continue this if it weren't for the fact that this comment would go on for way too long.
@@HoodedEdge yeah I think I can agree on the graphics and sound thing, Rondo of Blood, Akumajou Dracula(X68000) and Bloodlines look and sound so much better, gameplay was fine for me tho... if a bit "slow".

Castlevania Bloodlines is a good game, my favorite castlevania game is Castlevania 4
Super Castlevania IV is my favorite and the best castlevania game ever made.
This game has a lot of improvements of the original three, the choppy stiffness from the original trilogy, gone. Now your character in this game is in perfect control. You can now whip in 8 directions, and if you hold the whip button, you could do all sorts of cool and crazy tricks, making this a fun and fair game.
This game has very good level design, fun boss fights, excellent soundtrack, great and enjoyable game from Castlevania and Castlevania 3, these games are great, but Castlevania IV took the cake.
This and symphony of the night are my favorite castlevania games.

the original version is good, its the bloodlines version that is rather... meh.
to be honest, the original feels like its an epic proclamation of Simon, meanwhile, the bloodlines version feels like the echos of the Belmont's heroics.
