I've had my grinder for 18 years and it's still going strong. LOVE THIS GRINDER. Possibly the newer made ones are not the same quality as the original. KA did stop manufacturing it for several years and brought it back .... supposedly better than ever! Seems that may not be the case. Love my KA proline burr grinder. I've NEVER changed the burrs, just adjusted them. The grind is consistent when I do and provides a delicious cup of coffee. Don't forget to use GOOD beans!
This grinder is junk. The plastic gears on mine broke. Good luck getting parts. $350 paperweight. They sell replacement burrs. Why bother? The burrs will outlast the plastic gears .
@@adamslogic I had it maybe 4 1/2 years. So surprised by the plastic gears. Light/medium roasts are going to be harder on a grinder. Dark roasts are softer. That is something to consider in how much life you may get out of it. FYI - I'm not being unreasonable in my post and am not just a chronic complainer. Kitchenaid makes some good stuff. I have a brewed coffee maker that has been good. I have had an artisan stand mixer since 2004. It has been well used and is solid machine.
TH-cam removed my video showing the broken plastic gears. I guess kitchenaid has some clout when they pay to advertise. Taking down my video does not change the fact that the gears in the proline grinder are plastic.

I've had mine for about 18 years (give or take!) and it's still going strong!
