They have Punjabi & Pashtun roots. That's doesn't mean they're of Pakistani ancestry though, since Pakistan didn't exist as an entity then. Also Pakistan is a nationality not ethnicity. Punjabi & Pashtun people aren't just native to Pakistan. Punjabi, Sindhi & Pashtun ethnicities are natively found in Indian Punjab, Kutch & Potwar plateau (which is part of Gandhar) in India respectively. So this identity is not exclusive to Pakistan, it belongs to India equally!
