How easily rocket gives up this traumatic info to quill is kind of jarring. I don't think he'd do an exposition dump like this so easily.

i only think this happens because in the game thieve been together for years at this point.
i also don't think his trauma is as bad here as it is in the mcu. reason for this is because this rocket is from halfworld so he was made by the halfworld brood (robot caretakers) who were much more ethical if still fucked up the Hurlburt Windom and his sick experiments as the high evolutionary and after.
like its all bad but the broods no where near the level of that sick fuck we get in the mcu. the robots have no emotions, hes just a monster

tbf this also comes after a fair bit of missions and from Peter and Rocket chatting pretty consistently
@@kevind3974 imo the high evolutionary is perhaps the greatest mcu villain we've had to date. Portrayal by the actor and the character as a whole himself.

Hurts me that the guardians never find out about Lylla, Teefs and Floor in the movies. Hurts me that it's more in character for Rocket to keep that pain to himself.
How do we know that? Weren't they in the recordings Nebula showed them about Rocket's past?

who knows... maybe thats just material in the back pocket that rocket might be willing to share after having the near death moment.
idk who or when such a conversation might come up but maybe it could be put to good use connecting himself to another character who is in a state of "you dont know my pain so i will destroy the universe" but he does so "talk no Jutsu" can happen. prob doesnt even need to be on a universe at stake scale. could even be down the a single kid about to go down the wrong path a path of revenge at all costs.
though, he basically had that moment with Drax in vol 1, just no details... "everyone gots dead people... thats no excuse to get everyone else dead"
maybe an AU version puts him in connection where his friends survive the escape but that rocket died shortly after getting his friends to a new planet... maybe mortally wounded.
the multiverse connecting two similar parties with very similar experiences would be a lot more compatible for integration than the Gamora we got back, who didnt have experiences that made the first one.
(and then marvel trolling so they can kill them all over again to re crush Rockets soul... "it never stops hurting"- Cosmo)

This makes me love the MCUs relationship between Rocket and Bucky, even if it was breif.
i wanted Rocket and Tony Stark to have a good length casual conversation. two inventors just going back and forth... what we got was too short.

Wonder how it was for comic book version
Comic book if I remember right, they were basically comfort animals for people and scientists who were helping them ended up leaving and the robots left behind grew sentient and wanted to leave too, they forced a sort of evolution on them all so there could be something to take over caring for the people there, and until a revolution happened all the animals were suffering like Rocket did when they were torn apart and put back together to create what they needed. Lylla actually even had a toy factory that she inherited from her father, it was a big plot point to have toys to keep the people calm and happy so there was alot of wars over the topic. Rocket helped save her and they became love interests but he left at some point and when he returned she was married to a fellow mercenary who helped them both during the war over her factory. Very different but holds key elements to all the stories used for the games and movies! I don't remember all the exacts but that I believe moderately sums it up! They both showed up in a 1985 issue of The Hulk as well fun fact!! (Sorry for the long reply Lylla was a loss of a potentially fantastic character)

I watched 16 hours of no commentary gameplay of this. I really enjoyed this game and actually really warmed up to this version of rocket, despite his funny little beard

maybe in some AU that happens but its not in the main timeline/ reality.
but with DR Strange, Spiderman etc starting to do reality hoping, it could happen and even cross over.
At the very least it would be nice to see Lylla in a GOTG adaption where she doesn’t die. It’s been done in the Telltale game, this game and now Vol. 3.
This should feel like a really emotional scene, but between Quill not looking at rocket and just staring off into the distance, and how neither of them emulate the correct emotions, it just kind of ruins it.

@@TinyRiver97 James Gunn really sold the emotions. the Character's actions up to this point are very well backed up by the backstory. its really feels like the events would have shaped Rocket into who we saw in the other movies. pure directing genius. the VFX, voice actors etc also didnt slack off in that regard. a perfectly rendered character into one of the most well rounded and believable.
That's now 3 variants of her that died...I now fear her death is a Fixed Point in time!!!

Guardians Vol. 3 honestly did his story more justice
It was *very* different than this, but similar, and far *more* traumatic. Added a necessary depth to Rocket's character.
This game was great, but it missed some opportunities for fantastic story telling, and along with that, I really didn't like how Rocket was written here. His backstory should have been difficult to uncover, something you have to legitimately work for, and it should have been a whole side quest. This was just open and uninspired, it could have been much better.

Rocket was not in a relationship with Lylla when this happened, so it’s not cheating. However he did cheat with the rest of his girlfriends. I believe it’s because he was just using them to get their stuff as a thief. Lylla was married with Blackjack (comic book version of Floor which is a completely different character and Rocket's rival), but recently it was revealed they divorced.

Despite seeing Vol 3 recently, I still love this version of Rocket more the the MCU version.
This is a whole different story, first he makes a lockpick thing opens the door. Then they hug and lyla gets shot right in the heart. And then they shoot thoof and floor. And then rocket Moses the first guy and shoots the others with the other guys gun.

@United States with that being the case I recommend subscribing to someone that uploads game trailers so you don't kiss out in case a gem catches your eye
I know a lot of people were dismissive being thst a different studio at square eniz was directly responsible for the hated avengers game, that I believe is the biggest contributor. They were wary to market it as a result. Thankfully it earned a win at the game awards for best narrative and the team was proud of their accomplishment, those that do get to play and enjoy it get to and hopefully as time goes on especially with the new got movie it can continue to find success such as how people are revisiting it now with this TH-cam video

I’m so confuse how come in the game rocket raccoon tell Coiln what happened in his past but in the movie rocket did not tell anyone about his past, he did not even tell his past to Groot.
different Version have different tipping points.
the MCU Rocket is more grounded in selling the character's emotions as being real drivers for the actions he does in the movies. there are very few situations where someone would go into deeper detail about such things.
also, in games and animated stuff where the character is fully treated as a npc back ground character, the writers just tell you in a few lines or a single episode because that isnt going to be explored further and they dont have many other tools or time to flesh out a character.
the movies can play the long game, and its better that they do because then they can milk every detail for another movie, a tv series etc.
like, Nick Fury. entire plots can be made to showcase his past and make it relevant.
or maybe... MAYBE like Drax said. "why didnt you ask"
