I can’t help but feel a little underwhelmed by this new body. The pinless limbs and butterfly joints are great additions, but if you’re going for a whole new body, it would have been nice to have had a ball at the waist and diaphragm, instead of the rather outdated torso hinge with waist swivel. It would also have been nice to see articulation to the base of the neck for greater range of motion. This would also have allowed the opportunity to give characters different color necks for masked and unmasked looks.

The sculpt, sizing, and proportions of Vulcan helps him fit in better with a modern collection, but nothing about the articulation is particularly modern. Having a ball jointed waist and torso definitely feels like the next step for Legends and it's a bit surprising they didn't start with Vulcan, when other companies are already doing it at this same price point.

They won't give them a ball at the waist and diaphragm, they're articulation quality won't be as good as McFarlane's Toys, they give us more articulation for less the price
Totally agree. I wish they moved more in the direction of the G.I. Joe Classified Series articulation scheme. I absolutely love the ball jointed waists and ball jointed lower necks. The drop down hips are also nice, but at least we've seen that used for Beast and Spidey...I definitely think they could use it on more characters. Wolverine comes to mind, so he could get really low to the ground crouching. Still, I do like the Vulcan mold, I just feel like they should have taken the opportunity to put out a truly modernized figure, especially if this is the new standard for the long haul.
@@josephsteinbacher6131 Good point! Drop down hips are another thing they should have included. For a body that is meant to be the future of the line, this already looks outdated next to Classified, and that’s despite all the on-going price hikes.
Looking forward to seeing this new buck on other characters! Solid figure although I really wish with these simple designed characters Hasbro would include some energy effects even molded with the alternate hands or a new effects piece to go with the new buck.
Always cracks me up, the box art shows him using "powers" but we get no energy effect accessories. Worse is Syren in this wave who is yelling open mouth on the box art. 🤣
I'm really eager to see hasbro reusing this buck for Deadpool, black panther, and maybe for captain marvel (genis vell)
It's not bad, it could've been better with a couple of weeks but it's not bad.
I hope this is not the new "Bucky Cap" mold since it will make every other character we already have look small next to him.

This mold is perfect to replace characters with Bucky Cap mold. Cyke, DD, Black Panther, Havok, Blackbolt, etc.
Deadpool and captain marvel are definitely the ones I'd be interested in using this buck along with cyke and black panther
I’d be happy if Cyke, black bolt, black Panther, and havoc are rereleased with this body! But I personally think Dare Devil should be on that retro Spider-Man!

I'm a little worried about scaling. If the new mold is that much taller, any new character is going to look odd next to older figures/characters.
Great review Elvis! My only complaint is that he is just a tiny bit too large overall, but it seems like all Marvel Legends have been getting taller and bulkier over the years.
I disagree on the upper diaphram torso you find on Spider-man. I think that articulation should either be standard. Or a dual ball joint torso would be superior to even that. You get the waist swivel and all the torso articulation you could need when done correct(cough Mcfarlane Toys doesn't know how to use it).
The new Vulcan body addresses the legs and arms. but it fails to address the torso beyond a resculpt. It would be much better to have neck joints that are less prone to breaking or at least easier to replace. I guess it's a "Just go all the way". They are just so close.
Then it was a missed chance to put Havoc on this body .
It is an interesting update. The thighs look a little long or mage the knee is too condensed. Bring on Cyclops on this body! I wish the AOA Scott had this body. I suppose different head sculpts will give various ranges of tilt. It looks good, just slightly off in the legs.
If hasbro would remake popular characters from this mold then that would be great for new collectors, but personally im keeping my bucky cap molds. Cant keep spending anymore especially when ML prices are getting expensive.
For the new price we really should be getting more accessories than that.

@@AlphaProto Yes, DD needs to be on the super-poseable retro Spidey body. This Vulcan mold is too tall and too badly proportioned for Daredevil. Honestly with ten years to come up with a better standard body than Bucky Cap, I feel they dropped the ball with the Vulcan mold in numerous ways.

I'm glad they went with the hinge and traditional about crunch over the spider-man approach. It just doesn't have the range I'd like. Wish the butterfly went deeper though. The overall size surprises me, this feels closer to a spider-man UK buck replacement than a bucky capt. And to that effect, I'd be very interested in a Jim Lee Magneto on this body.
First ever size comparison with the bucky buck and Vulcan. I feel Vulcan is too tall, it's like half an inch taller than the bucky cap, and bucky is already taller than 6 Inch scale.
I've wanted a Vulcan figure (and Darwin, Petra and Sway) for over a decade. So glad we're finally getting this team delivered to us.
Looking forward to seeing what customizers do with this new buck. For some reason I'd love to see a Batman made from this body mold.
The face sculpt and paint are amazing
Not a bad base body.
The joints tend to be made out of different plastic. That's why they tend to be a different color.
Different plastics are different hardness for different conditions.
Buck cap is not bad just over used happy to have a new mold and more body variants 💪🏾💯 good job E

This guy is usually dripping with energy effects whenever he’s drawn. He looks great, but cmon, maybe include something for him.
honestly, I think that torso is still the Bucky Cap mold, just w added butterfly joints. The legs look different.

My only comment would be if the vulcan mold would be the standard mold for most figures, marvel legends is now kinda leaning towards 7 inch scale

Excited for this leap forward for ML. Now they get to re make so many characters for us to purchase again with this and the Shriek buck. Great face sculpt and hopefully we do get a new Bucky Cap soon!

Great review, I hope they redo Blade the vampire hunter especially since his movie is coming out, Black Panther instead of the repainted ones and re-visit the New Warriors figures with this new buck, I know they will continue to do Captain America, Spider-Man, Ironman and Hulk, because that's Hasbro favorite. I'm happy to see that they slowly coming around other comics heroes and villains for action figures, anyway keep up the great reviews 👍🏾
Where is waist ball joint, and dropdown leg? Standard thing in GI Joe figures.
They need to use this body mould for Black Bolt, Black Panther, Wonder Man, Captain Mar-Vell and ofcourse Cyclops Animated Series VHS.

the new mold is great, but hasbros choice of a character to put it on is weird.not alot of people know who the hell vulcan is.when I look at the figure, all I see is wonder man or captain marvel and sentry to premier the new buck......just odd choices on hasbros part.
It’s finally here !! Such a weak choice for the first character on this mold though, just my opinion, I’ve never been a huge fan of the third Summers brother.
I trade the pinless joints for the obvious flaws like the joints color not matching the supposed main color. the new buck looks like somewhere in between the bucky base and rock python buck size. with added butterfly

I don't know the character but I like the look of this figure. If it had the standard Power Rangers Lightning Collection articulation it would be even better. Or even a double ball joint in the torso and neck.

The new buck seems to have that X factor havoc wrists issue, where the lower arms are to big or hands are to small, leaving a werid gap

He's just too tall and bulky to be a standard body, but it does look good...for certain characters.
Would like to see how he compares next to the Grim Reaper/Punisher buck… seems like they’re about the same height?
Only gripe I have with the mold Is the scaling. Looks a touch too big. Scaling over the 6 inch standard. (Not to mention marvel legends already skewed a bit big for true 6 inch scale. This almost pushes it to 7 inch scale.

I hope the height won't be standard. The arms are long, the thighs look longer and slim in comparison to shin and calves. A thing legends are doing often is make the upper part of thighs slim, I have yet to see that on bodybuilders. The pecks are low...I guess some body types are different. I don't really care for the character but if this is exactly what every figure which used the previous mold will have I think personally I don't need to update.
For the size, I think is really the replacement of the grim reaper instead of the bucky body...

Bucky Cap is better detailed. Vulcan mold despite the butterfly is not better in my view looks plain and proportions seem off.
I hope we get a new classic Vision on this body. Although it's probably a bit too muscular for Vision. It could stand to be just a bit leaner.
They could have done waste swivel too on spiderman. Figuarts does it

In my honest opinion… even the volcan body mold is outdated, waist swivel outdated, neck disk hinge outdated, ab crunch outdated, I think the new standard body mold should be mid diaphragm cut and lower ab crunch, dumbbell joint neck, and drop down hips

Is it just me or does the torso proportions look more like an update to the Old Bullseye/Protector/1st quicksilver etc mold rather than an update to the Bucky Cap Mold, also would have liked to see how this mold looks in comparison to the Sunfire Mold but great review overall, though its kinda dissaponting that the knee and elbow plastic differs in shade compared to the arms and legs, another thing I can live with but throws the sculpt off in my opinion is the placing of the knees, they seem a little low (either that or the thighs seem a little too long compared to the rest of the legs

SMs new articulation model should be standard for all marvel legends. Waist cuts are outdated. And also anatomically incorrect.

Ball and hinge is better than dumbbell, lack of tilt is more due to the size of the head cavity and less to the hinge.
You actually get less up wit the dumbbell making hero landings and flying poses harder to achieve.
And for the love all that is holy may we never get toe articulation, they get loose and make standing without a stand hard for out of box collectors.

Not at all impressed with this buck. I wasn't expecting much to begin with but the neck and torso articulation are already obsolete.
Legs are too long and would have been better with a torso cut instead of ab crunch.

This new body doesn't scale very well. WAY too tall. If they shortened the upper thighs, I think that's would mitigate the excessive height. He just towers over every other "average" build.
It's a shame that hascrap has the balls to exclaim it a new ' body' when the classified line takes a crap on the absolute best marvel legends. Except the sensational eternals line that many are lining up around the block where these are manufactured to throw stones at the employees so that no more could be made and passed around to be worn as hats by the peoples native to the eternals.😜
