One little tip I've learned on adjusting the transmission cable, after you adjust it crank the mower up and lift the back tires off the ground. If the wheels spin you have the cable too tight and it will prematurely wear out the transmission. Another thing I do is wrap a piece of tape around the cable right up against the switch housing before I loosen it to make the adjustment so I can see exactly how much I've adjusted it and be able to make micro adjustments until I get it perfect.
I just watched and followed your tutorial and successfully replaced my cable. THANK YOU! My issue is WHY does Toro make such a flimsy part? Mine is only 10 months old. If I had to do it over, I might've just bought something else.
It’s just a bad design. I’ve already replaced my cable twice. Water gets down in the tube that houses the cable and then the cable rusts. There is a lot of tension on that cable so when it rusts the cable’s integrity goes out the window and snaps. A better design would’ve been to put a coating over the cable to protect it from water damage
great video very educational however I am not sure if my cable is the problem are the brake, I could not get the cable arm to pull back at the handle that start the blade to turning. I applied a little Fouse and broke the plastic piece that hole the cable should I replace the brake along with the cable. Any help would be great thanks.

Did you notice that your blades now spin slowly when you’re engine is idling? I caught it at the end of the video
Yes, had to adjust the blade engagement cable.
Blade Brake Clutch (BBC) Arm Kit
KIT-BBC ARM [30" RESIDENTIAL]
Model: 133-8158
is that correct?
yep..this works. thanks.
I just replaced it, but my brake pad is hitting the belt, not the rotor, it’s sagging too much. Any ideas? The nut is tight, the bracket isn’t bent.
The timemaster brake arm assembly is of poor design so I am replacing it with this. Exmark 131-0899 Toro Kit Brake Arm Assembly.

Hi please text Bruce back to fixed the lawn mower bagger for
Same issue here curious if you ever found a fix?
@@Noname23489 yeah, I installed the brake shoe upside down or in the wrong sequence of washers. Still wasn’t 100%, had to bend it a little.
