He wasn't stuck, he was just mourning his mama. The tribe was definitely out helping him and had even decided to helicopter him out if he stayed much longer!
Yeah, not stuck, just mourning, left when she was ready. They named her "kʷiisaḥiʔis" or brave little hunter, hope she catches up to her pod. The extra sad part of the story is that mom was pregnant too. They are going to put some sort of gate under the bridge so it hopefully doesn't happen again.
Thanks for taking us along on your road trip. It’s the small towns and nature that I enjoy so much. My north of the border neighbors have such a beautiful interesting place to explore.
That big square thing on the side of the mountain is called a passive microwave reflector. Way back in the day before Starlink, before telecommunications satellites and when it was unfeasible to get telephone lines into a community. They would bounce television and telephone signals into places using point-to-point microwave radio dishes. Since they couldn't fire a signal directly into the town, they installed that passive reflector on the side of the mountain which allowed them to bounce that microwave signal into the town. I believe Telus owns this one and they may still use it for telephone connections into the town (wow..). From what I can tell the signal would originate from Thasis.
Happy I shared the orca story with you when we met this week as you were able share it with your TH-cam family. Also so proud of you for learning how to pronounce Zeballos. ❤️
That rectangular white thing on the side of the mountain is a radio signal repeater. It is used in mountainous areas to bounce communication signals from bottom of the valley up to somewhere higher. It's probably not used anymore.
I love these kind of videos when you are in the back country. You do a wonderful job of editing your vids, I feel like I am riding along with you, seeing more of beautiful Canada. Thank you for that!
And Chrome thanks for sharing pictures of maps, it helps to get a better visual of your travels of course! And “NO-CRUZ IS NOT A MORNING DOG!” That shot of him first thing on one of your recent videos was PRECIOUS!
What great little town. Ceballos. 100 residents. A bear, baby orca, the ocean, rivers, cliffs, lakes. You and Cruzy! That's what I call a great day. Thanks Chrome!❤
Ain’t the north end of Van Isle a real beauty! It’s where I hold my annual adventure and Dualsport motorcycle campout fundraiser for Men’s Mental Health: Get Lost…Find Yourself. Held at Windy Waters Campground just up from Nimpkish lake 👍🏻 I love it up north island!! Nimpkish lake is known for it’s world class windsurfing.
OMG I’m sorry you missed the whales and I’m glad the baby orca made it out of danger…..with the help of the locals. What a sad story about momma. Thank you for sharing Zeballos and the surrounding areas. It’s all so beautiful!
Mainstreet in Zeballos used to be called Rotten Row, pretty rough town in the olden days. Nice people in that community, very friendly. nice campground right in Zeballos (zea bal lus) and leaving the township one at Resoultion point just on the left going toward Fair Harbour and one almost immediately on the right where they did staging of the nets to capture the little Orca
Chrome, I have a Brother-in-law that lives in Coffin Point bay in BC just outside of Ladysmith. He lives in a trailer on a native reservation and he does alot of wildlife photography of various bugs in the area.
Adventuring vicariously helps many with health issues. The dangling canoe from the mirror aggravates some conditions. I have to look away, and I dont want to miss your enthusiasm and joy.
Chrome...the town was named after Ciriaco Ceballos...the fact that the pronunciation has been changed through the year the correct pronunciation is Zeh bah yos.
Ive only been using the Gaia app to track the Island since February. My goal is to fill in the Island one day lol. I wish I had started sooner I'd have almost everything west and south from Nanaimo mapped out by now. Oh well that just means I'll get to see it all again 😂
Chrome, I’ve watched you from the beginning. You never cease to amaze me. Always love the cooking because cooking and camping go hand-in-hand God bless love from Colorado.
Sir crome, I say this with great thought, get a insta 360 x4, a pole, a magnetic mount. This will help you get those great epic shoots. Don't believe me then was a youtuber name Trent palmer use his on his airplane, bike, truck to get great shoots. Please take this to heart n watch his video on the x4. I have the x2 and omg worth it.😊😊😊😊😊
I was blown away by this video! I love it when you allow me to ride with you on your trips like this, Canada is totally raw and beautiful, take my breath away views. That little town was awesome, made me want to stop and just say hi y’all! You live in a really wonderful place.
Hi😎&🐶; Cruzy must be sleeping in today 🙂 Chrome you take us where people rarely see! T.Y. ; Well Hello Cruzy 🙂;Great Video! 🤗👍Thank You For Sharing your adventure! ;❤️🫂😎🐶;See You Both Soon! 🙂
I launched on a kayak trip from Fair Harbour once to go out and see the sea otters a little bit further out. They were amazing...they would raft up at night and tangle themselves in the kelp to stay safe together as a group and you could see all these little grey heads bobing up and down in the waves.
When you go north this year, check out the chilcotin. You can drive from Bella Coola. Camping everywhere. Careful yp in the peace area. They still have legacy fires from last...still smoking. We were lucky last year fire season. Hopefully we can repeat.
haha hey brother it looks like we are doing the same trip. I am just a couple weeks ahead of you. I did the back roads from Woss to get there. I need to use my drone more. You got some great video. Happy trails man. Hope to see you on the road again...Joseph
At 18:15 sorry not 8:15 the name of that small propane stove would be wonderful, thank you. Enjoy it up there its ruggedly beautiful, hope you get some sun though 🚐
Thank you for showing that lovely little town! I have followed you since your early days . I love watching your adventures. I also enjoy just watching your dream shop become a reality! Love Cruzy Thank you for sharing your life with us ❤
I saw the news report about the orca calf way down here in Houston, Texas. We visited southern Vancouver Island last August on the way back from Alaska.
Thursday in Australia there were 100 pilot whales beached. It's always sad to see or hear of them being beached. Nice to see you enjoy your outing. Always nice to get away.
Wicked cool adventuring. So glad you're back at it as well as getting that shop up and running. Love all the content. You also remind me, with every video, why I love BC so freakin much.
Thanks for sharing the beautiful north end of VI. Visited this area for the 1st time last summer. Great footage of young orca heading out to sea. Hope it finds its home pod soon!

Nice little town but so much poverty.

Thx for the info. That’s fascinating.
What an amazing Orca story! Bless those villagers for caring for her for two months, and for their rescue attempts for the mom! People are AWESOME!
Happy I shared the orca story with you when we met this week as you were able share it with your TH-cam family. Also so proud of you for learning how to pronounce Zeballos. ❤️
An orca is the largest member of the dolphin family, not a whale. Glad to hear the calf got back out to the ocean.

Oh, the orca story 🥲
Chrome...the town was named after Ciriaco Ceballos...the fact that the pronunciation has been changed through the year the correct pronunciation is Zeh bah yos.
That sounds like the word that means “horse” in Spanish
@@rainsofhealing horse is pronounced Kah bah yo
OMG so happy they got him out to the ocean. Praying that baby lives a long healthy life 🙏🐳🙏
Fair Harbor looks spooky…great video thanks for sharing… ❤😊

Hey Chrome, please see a chiropractor about your back. I had the exact same symptoms as you did, and a chiropractor worked wonders for me. PLEASE!
So sad about the baby Orca’s mom but so glad it made it out back to the ocean.
I was blown away by this video! I love it when you allow me to ride with you on your trips like this, Canada is totally raw and beautiful, take my breath away views. That little town was awesome, made me want to stop and just say hi y’all! You live in a really wonderful place.

Wow - I saw that in the news but I had no idea it was near where you were
Really enjoy watching where you go
Just this morning , April 27 th, 2024, I heard the orca swam out to sea on it's own atlast.
LOL, that's keeping it real - driving off into the backcountry to binge watch Netflix...
I saw the news report about the orca calf way down here in Houston, Texas. We visited southern Vancouver Island last August on the way back from Alaska.
I literally watched that series too yesterday, it's amazing to see how that worked out.
Unlocked is a great series I also binged watched it it's either great minds think alike or we are just wiredos or both lol
Where is your dog in this video? We'll ❤ to see him too 😊 where is it?
are you talking about Cruz? He was in it
Chrome how’s your USA engine and service treating u?? U need to come down to the States!
Great day Crome !
Thursday in Australia there were 100 pilot whales beached. It's always sad to see or hear of them being beached. Nice to see you enjoy your outing. Always nice to get away.
Oh no that’s so sad…when they do that can they be pushed back out to sea? Or do they just stay beached and die?
Wicked cool adventuring. So glad you're back at it as well as getting that shop up and running. Love all the content. You also remind me, with every video, why I love BC so freakin much.
Thanks
Awe thank you
You’re welcome…a little bit of love from New Zealand ❤
Great video chrome great to see you back out doing what you love❤
Thanks for sharing the beautiful north end of VI. Visited this area for the 1st time last summer. Great footage of young orca heading out to sea. Hope it finds its home pod soon!
