I was not decided back then in 2007 whether to apply for a nursing job in NZ, UK or Ireland. Eventually, I opted for NZ mainly because of the laid back way of life which of course I did not regret. I worked at one of the best aged care facilities in Wellington for nearly eight years and I believe this was the greatest moment of my nursing career.
NZ may not be at par with Western countries regarding remuneration but the overall experience inclusive of lower cost of living, superb working condition, the beautiful outdoors and the friendly vibe of Wellingtonians endeared me to love the land of the long veil cloud as my second home.
Thank you, New Zealand, for taking care of me!

Very random TH-cam recommendation, but welcome to NZ we need all the nurses we can get .

From Canada and got my registration around 2005. Was able to get a job offer in Wellington but decided to turn it down after realizing the cost of living versus pay. Instead took a month and travelled around both North and south islands and loved it. I loved the people and the beauty of it all just wish the pay was better.

Nurses in NZ (compared to the USA) are glorified nurse's aides and it is not considered a professional role here - pay reflects that. If that floats your boat - then you'll be OK. (Been here for 15 years) Pay is very very low compared to outrageous cost of living. Christchurch weather is probably better than most places though.

Why would anyone from the U.S. move all the way down to New Zealand for much lower pay, less opportunities, much higher prices in virtually everything & much less choices?… Are you running away from something?… Look, there is a huge labor shortage in the US for high paying jobs such as healthcare so go and take advantage of that!… Move to another state or territory if your city/state is too cold. Hell, the U.S. has the most choices in virtually everything including the weather!… Do the right thing and help your country out in its time of need instead of running away to a much poorer country for whatever reason with much less opportunities for yourself and your family!

Making comparisons with other countries like Australia and the USA with populations of 25+millions and 300+millions is not only disingenuous but without logic .with higher populations , huge mineral and oil resources, larger farmland capabilities the proportion of wealth distribution they have to NZ is enormous .Due to its distance (therefore isolation)from world markets and trade opportunities NZ's small land mass and population the cost of living is always going to be higher. But NZ does have many its advantages .Its distance from conflict and wars, its clean green no carnivorous or poisonous animals or fauna beautiful landscape .It's people who are decades ahead of Australia and the USA in terms of indigenous reconciliation (some teething problems)are also welcoming and proud to share it's beautiful country.

What an amazing service provided by Prudence and her team at Accent Health Recruitment New Zealand! I began my journey toward nursing in New Zealand in March, 2020, and soon after began working with Hayley Cullen at Accent Health Recruitment. I cannot overstate how helpful she has been in all aspects of the entire process, including:
    -getting licensed,
    -creating a resume,
-searching, applying and interviewing for eligible job postings,
-navigating the job offer and on-boarding process,
    -applying for a visa,
-getting into and through 14 day managed isolation,
    -finding housing and getting settled.
And all of this at NO COST to me! Above all, the encouragement and support of having someone on my side through it all has made an otherwise stressful transition quite positive and exciting.
I was initially planning to go it alone, but I cannot overstate the advantage of having someone at Accent Health working alongside me.
Happy to chat with anyone interested in New Zealand nursing and to provide more information or contact details for Hayley Cullen and the team at Accent Health Recruitment.

Poorer insulation I believe is what you'd expect to find in our older and really old houses, unless they installed good insulation and installed it during renovation, I mean looking at Invercargill it's more like old house neighbourhoods, there are old houses everywhere, there some brand new houses and slightly newer houses and at least plenty of old houses that are actually cared for, but there also old houses that are fine but the yard is neglected

From what I could find about House Supervisors and the responsibilities and checking them against job listings for New Zealand hospitals, it appears that the equivalent is called a Clinical Nurse Coordinator (sometimes Manager). 2IC positions usually append "Associate" to the front.

It's probably not as good because healthcare is a public service in New Zealand, not a commercial product; even private healthcare jobs are probably going to pay less. Cost of living is also quite high depending on where you are, so you'll have fewer dollars that need to stretch further. On the other hand, it's a beautiful country with low crime, loving people, and generally high quality of life, so many people are happy to make the trade off.

Christchurch Hospital Emergency Department is shit. My 70 year old mother had a fall and hurt her back, had to call an ambulance for her as she was in so much pain. After 6 hours in the ED they sent her home with some paracetamol tablets. A week later she was back at the ED as the back pain was getting worse so they x-rayed her back and found that she had fractured one of her vertebrae. Didn't even get a sorry from any staff at the Emergency Department for what they put my mother through.

Its like theyre actually afraid to use their equipment. My daughter was sent home in pain and a leaflet on constipation. Was operated on and admitted to a ward a few days later with burst ovarian cysts. All the ED needed to was scan her to see what was going on that night she presented....... but no.

    John 3:16-21
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
