One of the biggest reasons the SEC would want to bring in FSU and Clemson would be to keep the recruiting in FL (and to a much lesser extent SC) as a stronghold of the SEC and make it difficult for the BIG10 to create pipelines.

Teams in the Big like Ohio State and Oregon have no problem recruiting in the south, yeah they have to pay a bit extra NIL to convince a kid from the south to play there, but FSU and Clemson in the big would only benefit the top dogs of the SEC to negatively recruit against them.

I have several fans that are SEC fans and every one of them have told me they would welcome FSU into the conference.
Of course there's been no invitations from either the Big Ten or the SEC because both conference chairmans came out and said publicly there would be no invitations until we were definitely out of the ACC.
Once that has completed, more than likely within the next two seasons, I expect Florida State will have invitations from every conference left standing at that point. With the exception of the ACC of course. 😂
Every single aspect to the changes of college football are all driven by money.
Florida State brings eyeballs to TVs and the ratings numbers lead to large contracts with the television networks.
Florida State, since entering the ACC has been the largest revenue producer in the conference by far.
It's all about money. For this reason and this reason alone either the Big Ten or the SEC will certainly extend invitations to Florida State.
And Clemson because they have been the second largest revenue producer in the ACC since Florida State joined the conference.

SEC - Georgia being the best. Alabama LSU Missouri and Ole Miss flashes of Tennessee.
Rest were not that good last year. Proof ACC beat them in head to head. That hurts the narrative ESPN continues to peddle on how great the SEC is so why even talk about any other teams.
FSU absolutely would have beaten Washington in the 2 vs 3 match up without starting QB (washinton never played an elite defense until Michigan). Michigan was a defensive team. That game would have been close.
This whole ESPN SEC you must believe whatever we say because we said it. Alabama almost lost to Auburn if not for a hail mary 30 yard TD. Texas beat a good not great Alabama as their only reasoning to go ahead of FSU. Come on if ESPN and the bowl committee thought this then why not put them ahead of FSU the weeks before when the injury happened?
College Football has been ruined by ESPN bias of SEC for years and continues to prop up the conference whenever possible. I never minded talk. When the talk is turned into action that left out an undefeated team it was wrong.

  • @LoCoVANole
    @LoCoVANole 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

Two thoughts on why the SEC is publicly claiming it does not want FSU (but would take some of the Triangle schools):
    (1) The powers that be in the SEC don’t want to loosen their grip on conference pecking order by bringing on FSU. Claims that FSU doesn’t add to the bottom line is rank pretense. UNC, on the other hand, is a non-threat so no harm in accommodating them to counter the swelling B1G even if such a move doesn’t make economic sense. The “new state” model is a head fake - it’s a stale metric given how college football is consumed. FSU is a national brand with top 10 eyeballs on a consistent basis. Viewership for FSU/LSU the past two years says it all. If you believe the SEC doesn’t want to own that, then I have a bridge to sell you.
    (2) Can ESPN afford to take on premier football programs given its financial troubles (especially after taking on TX and Okla)? UNC - which is currently a financial mess - comes cheap whereas FSU commands top dollar. No one is talking about this but it deserves attention.

    • @arieljudah9259

      3. They taken careful stock at past arguments, ie. "the ACC isa weak conference". Which is another reason the SEC and BIG legitimately have to regulate the power rankings entering in. FSU is a power in any Conference if we're being honest, and eyes on TV is value. That's why I assert everyone wants FSU their just apprehensive about the Flagship programs being outclassed. Presumably by a lesser opponent.

It’s classic spin aimed at manipulating public opinion and saving face. SEC should definitely add FSU Clemson Notre Dame if possible and Miami that's it or go to the big 12 and get Kansas and West Virginia. I don't see any other teams that would be a good fit for the SEC. Other teams would just dilute the conference. Kansas West Virginia and Miami May dilute the conference a little but probably not and those three colleges are a good fit politically and socially with the SEC.
