Two points...1) Tommie Frazier is quite possibly the best college option Q to ever play the game 2) this is one of the best highlight videos on TH-cam. Nuffsaid.
I wasn't a fan of the Husker during Fraziers tenure but I was a fan of him. He's, in my honest opinion, the best option QB to ever suit up for an NCAA football game. Anyone who says otherwise is either blind or just doesn't know college foorball. How he never won a Heisman trophy is beyond me, I mean 33-3 as a starter, 3 consecutive national title game appearances with back to back wins. That 95 season NC game vs Florida was like the single handedly most dominant performance damn near ever. Florida had been blowin opponent's out all year, to get beat like that, especially giving up 200 yards rushing to the qb, holy shit...
I went to FSU and after Charlie Ward I would have loved to have had him on our team! He was definately one of the top 3 QBs in the 90s if not the best! He should have won the H. Trophy.. Beating the Gators 195 to 21 was a great Natl Title game!
Just keeping it real. Frazier was closer in points to #3 Wueffle than he was to #1 George. Why. Because at the time of the vote, Neb had beaten 8 horrible teams with 55 loses and 3 others that were complete farces.
He's the best Husker ever at QB. Really hard to compare players in different positions but he is probably the best Husker ever. He had a great 93 season and then came back in the 94/95 NC and won the game for them, and then led the most dominant offense Nebraska has ever had in 95 and dominated the 95/96 NC. Who has a better resume?
He had no turnovers as a true freshman as I remember. One bad game against IowaSt that year, then 93-95. Option QB’s don’t have drop back footwork like that. Speed, power, and cutting ability and then pass in awkward positions when he had to. And the ultimate leader. Hard ass his 1st year.
I still can't believe he did not win the Heisman....he is one of the greatest examples of why the Heisman should be awarded after the bowl games so that EVERY game is included in college's most prestigious award....
I was about 7 years when Nebraska was in their prime and my best friend's birthday parties always seemed to be on a Nebraska game day and I'd always have to either miss it or arrive at half time because my parents weren't going to miss a thing. I was always so pissed off and mad at my parents, but now I completely understand. If only I was old enough to realize just what was going on. Pure greatness.
I will take a stab at it. Tommie was one of a kind. He "kept it real" before keeping it real had been invented. His physique, his ability to just option run in an arc ending up in the endzone, his name "Tommie Frazier", conjures up coolness by itself, he was a Hero to the Husker Nation by throttling Colorado four times in a row, on the field he and Corey and Lawrence WIPED OUT Miami and Sapp/Lewis, as "The Rock" could only stand and watch from the sidelines, not to mention "the run" vs FL.
He had a great arm and a feel for getting the ball to the receiver, who many times was wide open and halfway into the endzone. As for the NFL, that league is a totally different animal. Tommie was a college football Zeitgeist, too good for the NFL.
Its a shame he did not win the Heisman...how? god only knows...about everyone of these highlights would of won him the trophy today....and how in the hell can a DT put on a show like that and NOT WIN it?...I'm so proud how we play this wonderful game called football....all heart and class nothing less!...what the hell is up with a coach leaving his team before an orange bowl and go to a notre dame??? NO class today...
@bissoc14 In 1995 the Big 8 had four different teams with 10 wins all four won their bowl games. Nebraska played four teams that finished ranked in the top ten(1 on neutral field and 3 on the road) and beat them by an average of 33.5 points per game. The big 8 had 3 teams in the top ten in the final polls
I give a lot of credit to Tommy Frazier because that is one of the harder offenses to run. My school runs an inverted version of the wing-t and I play fullback so from my view point I can see the difficulty, patience, and intelligence required to read a triple option. He was the perfect quarterback for this offense. Love this guy.
dude there is no way in hell that he shoudn't have won at least on heisman. 3 national championships and 2 of them won. that's just incredible. Eric Crouch is probably my favorite NU quarterback, but if could win the heisman, then frazier should have won it. Tim Tebow himself says that he wouldn't be a quarterback and he wouldn't be as good if it weren't for Frazier. Frazier was his inspiration. my fav. play is the 75 yard run against the gators where he broke 7 tackles.
I love TF, He was one of my Faves growing up. i lived in Colorado, was a CU fan and well you know the rest, HE DESTROYED US. But mostly everyone did, but TF did it with finesse and made it tooooooo easy. I can't believe he didn't even get drafted.
Ya, also Turner Gill played in Montreal and the great Johnny Rogers, Rogers was awesome in the 70's, i think he won a couple of grey cups with Montreal. Vince Farragamo was QB.
I agree with you, but I think its safe to say that most of his memorable and important plays were by his legs. The run is a perfect example. Had he not had a blood clot, god knows what he could have been at the next level.
just watched big ten intro to nebraska ,big ten best . neb vs miami (ray lewis &warren sapp team) great azz game ,i wish they would show neb vs florida matchup..
Nebraska resident: Greatest college football QB of all-time. I have met him 3 times living in the city of Lincoln, NE. He has always been rude and cocky. Tim Tebow is a 100x better person than Tommie, but Frazier is a better football player, and it's not even close.
This is my favorite TH-cam video. Friggin makes me cry watching him. But then I watch a video of Steve Spurrier with his head in his hand, and I laugh again.
He was SO smart! He rarely made a wrong play. I used to say to my friends back then he earned his scholarship on 3rd down. He was money! He was SO, SO clutch!
i understand where yur comin from. But i live in Canada and have seen Tommy Frazier types since the 70's. Turner Gill, J.C. watts, Doug Flutie, conredge Holloway...etc. He would have been perfect for the CFL... but we'll never know.
People who say that Tebow is the greatest qb needs to look at these highlights of Frazier. Tebow might be the best ever on getting a 1 yard touchdown. But as a a overall runner there is no comparison. Frazier had much better moves, balance and speed. And Tommy was everybit the Leader of Tebow even though he did it completely different.
@thetateman25 if he got drafted this year he would be a great QB with so many people seriously running the wildcat at the pro level, plus he had a decent arm that could be developed.
As a long time Husker fan, Eric Crouch was such a great running quarterback, but Tommie Did it all with the pass and could run, too! Too bad those blood clots caused him to sit out a lengthy NFL career. I think he would have flourished in the right system. That 73-yard run against Florida in that 1996 Fiesta Bowl is on every true college football fan's highlight reel. NO DOUBT!!!
Two points...1) Tommie Frazier is quite possibly the best college option Q to ever play the game 2) this is one of the best highlight videos on TH-cam. Nuffsaid.

+Vine Wood im from NE and thanks i was about 10 at the time was a good year for me got me into football
I went to FSU and after Charlie Ward I would have loved to have had him on our team!

Should have won at least one Heisman! The best QB Nebraska has EVER had!
Just keeping it real.

This could quite possibly be the best highlight vid. of all time. Nice work.
Early 90s had some exciting QB play
Arguably the greatest Nebraska QB ever, and one of the top 5 Huskers ever.
The only Cornhuskers player that could argue was better than him was Mike Rozier and maybe Eric Crouch. Other than that, I can't think of anyone
Undoubtably!!!
He's the best Husker ever at QB. Really hard to compare players in different positions but he is probably the best Husker ever. Someone asked, who’s the best college football player you’ve seen? Hard to answer, but this guy came to mind.
I still can't believe he did not win the Heisman....he is one of the greatest examples of why the Heisman should be awarded after the bowl games so that EVERY game is included in college's most prestigious award....
LOVE IT. I think Tommy Frazier was the best quarterback to ever grace the uniform of Nebraska.
I was about 7 years when Nebraska was in their prime and my best friend's birthday parties always seemed to be on a Nebraska game day and I'd always have to either miss it or arrive at half time because my parents weren't going to miss a thing. Now I see why hes on the cover of NCAA 97
The glory days!!
Jeeze I just wish we coulda seen him playin at the pro level. He would have dominated.
Tommy Frazier was a freak of nature. Tim Tebow said he looked up to the guy. Can't blame him for saying that.
"Don't ask me where I've been Warren, ask me where I'm going".
This guy was the best play maker ever. He could turn a broken play into a touch down and he never really over paniced but he got the job done
i still cant belive his not playing in the nfl
Nebraskas entire offense was based around the run pass option, he should have won the heisman.
I will just take Tommie Frazier...man the boy was a beast...
Greatest talent I’ve ever watched in ncaa
Frazier & Phillips Heisman should’ve beens
sick ass video man. touchdown tommie frazier!!!!
Great video brings back memories. People should know that's why Tebow wears #15.
i'm sure he's doing fine in life, wherever that may be.
GREATEST Player on the GREATEST Team "Of ALL Time"
Tommie Frazier is and was underrated, GREAT QB, not justa moblie run first guy. MUCH RESPECT TO HIM.
Tommie Frazier was not the fastest. Didnt have the greatest arm. But he was probably the smartest which made him awesome
Tommy Frazier was the greatest QB EVER
HOLY COW
He had a great arm and a feel for getting the ball to the receiver, who many times was wide open and halfway into the endzone. As for the NFL, that league is a totally different animal. Tommie was a college football Zeitgeist, too good for the NFL.
i never liked nebraska, but frazier is top 5 all time college qbs.
what a beast
They will be. Bo Pelini understands the culture and will restore it.
Remember, Nebraska should really be a one lose team.
He makes it look like he is playing against high school teams.
Its a shame he did not win the Heisman...how? god only knows...about everyone of these highlights would of won him the trophy today....and how in the hell can a DT put on a show like that and NOT WIN it?...I'm so proud how we play this wonderful game called football....all heart and class nothing less!...what the hell is up with a coach leaving his team before an orange bowl and go to a notre dame??? good point. Heisman trophy is awarded before BOWL GAMES are played.
Look at how fast football was played.
I give a lot of credit to Tommy Frazier because that is one of the harder offenses to run. Tommy Frazier!!!!
Poor bastard had so many health problems. I hate Nebraska, but he reminded me so much of Tony Rice from ND and he was a college dandy
wow, thx, i'm surprised he didn't end up at a Florida school or very least SEC. Tom Osbourne did a good job recruiting him.
Hey Thomas where you been? Don't ask me where I've been Warren, ask me where I'm going.
Tommie Frazier was an absolute BEAST! NU sure has had some great players in their history. Go Big Red!
TOUCHDOWN TOMMIE FRAZIAH!!
I love TF, He was one of my Faves growing up. i lived in Colorado, was a CU fan and well you know the rest, HE DESTROYED US. But mostly everyone did, but TF did it with finesse and made it tooooooo easy. I can't believe he didn't even get drafted.
Salute. None of these guys ever ask for any credit
i dont know why somebody doesnt bring back this power option style offense
Man before Mike vick there was Tommy Frazier one of the best college players I've seen in my lifetime definitely top 3
He made people miss tackles in a way I've never seen before.
The run at 3.00 the whole team mist him!!!
Welcome to the B10 Nebraska fans!
i hate nebraska, but they were exciting as hell to watch with the option with frazier, frost and crouch.
Think Michael Vick of the early/mid 90's. Had some health issues, but at the time NFL wasn't really ready for a running QB like this.
Ya, also Turner Gill played in Montreal and the great Johnny Rogers, Rogers was awesome in the 70's, i think he won a couple of grey cups with Montreal. Vince Farragamo was QB.
Touchdown Tommie Fraziaaaaahhhh!
What Nebraska wouldn't give for this kind of player now....
Tommie Fra-ZIER!
I would loose the music. Watching Tommie is artistry!
The Best Ever! There will never be another Tommie Frazier!
Tied with Danny Wuerffel for greatest college QB ever
Breath by Breaking Benjamin released in 2006 off of the Phobia LP.
Greatest field general all time, beat all 3 of his home teams just like he said, even tho they were cheated at fl.state he won mvp in all 3 games
I agree with you, but I think its safe to say that most of his memorable and important plays were by his legs. The run is a perfect example. Had he not had a blood clot, god knows what he could have been at the next level.
Foxyfonzie,
Frazier might not have won it, but the last play on this video showed who the true winner was.
TOMMIE FRAZIER
I would lose the music. Distracts from watching TOMMIE!
The best player in Nebraska history and Top 3 all time.
tommy lives 3 houses down from me in omaha
Very nice job. Thank you for bringing back some good memories
kevin17m
Oregon
Maybe that's why Tebow wears #15
just watched big ten intro to nebraska ,big ten best . neb vs miami (ray lewis &warren sapp team) great azz game ,i wish they would show neb vs florida matchup..
Like the highlights and music
love the music....keep it.
He was Tim Tebow daddy played in 3 strait nation championship won 2
Awesome video
thankx for the video, as a husker fan its nice to watch a really good quartback take control of the game, most of all, thank you Tommie!!
good think i have tom osbornes sig and brook berringer when i was 10ish
Nebraska resident: Greatest college football QB of all-time. I have met him 3 times living in the city of Lincoln, NE. He has always been rude and cocky. Tim Tebow is a 100x better person than Tommie, but Frazier is a better football player, and it's not even close.

Lawd the good ole days
He was SO smart! He rarely made a wrong play. I used to say to my friends back then he earned his scholarship on 3rd down. He was money! He was SO, SO clutch!

how bout some love for Scott Frost, he was good at Nebraska too....
:35 Broken ankles looking like a fool.
@hozeishere He had a blood clot condition that ended his career after college. It's a real shame.
The play at 2:35 was my favorite, he's going down but he maintains his composure, and gets the throw off with some power.
@thetateman25 if he got drafted this year he would be a great QB with so many people seriously running the wildcat at the pro level, plus he had a decent arm that could be developed.
the best to not win the heisman
where is this guy in the NFL
Frazier would have givin Vick a run for his money had he would have been able to go in the NFL
NO DOUBT!!!
how does tommie frazier not win heisman but someone like cam newton does
Greatest college QB ever!
I am not sure about the "trite" comment, I too would like to know what song this is, great highlight vid. music.
Tommy Frazier was a great running qb, but Michael Vick still is and willl always be the best.
awesome, I just saw him at the cox classic in omaha last saturday and thought that was kinda cool.
ok sorry, i meant who threw the ball?
@coachorr tommy taipo kapo and tim tebow the best scramblers
oh ya, Eric Crouch, i think i get him mixed up with Frost. Who caught that incredible bouncing football in the endzone against Colorado?
