You hit the nail on the head, if you just buy every single character and try to keep up, they just sell you another team you need, and if your free to play (probably the best way to enjoy the game) by the time these characters are farmable it doesn’t matter and they’re almost irrelevant! In a year from now all the horsemen teams will have counters sold and more power creep

I'm a teacher so many times they were the bright spot in an otherwise pretty bleak time. Absolutely 100% this game has gone off the charts insane in terms of screen time and cost of offers to "try" and keep up (and it's only getting worse). It's beyond ridiculous and I'm pretty much at the point where I want to finish DD5 and call it done. It's too much and Scopely doesn't listen to a lot of the problems or if they do, it's brushed aside and forgotten. Thank you for your time and effort. I started 3 days after you for the same reasons (Covid). I never followed your streams but I have been following your TH-cam channel since the beginning. I agree with all the things you said in this video and have been thinking of quitting for a while. I’ve already left my more intense alliance who I was with for two years because it became too much work. I had a long paragraph that I was about to post, but in honor of the style that you used to make MSF content with, I deleted it and changed it to be more positive, so no talk of devs or mods or roadmaps. Thanks for all the MSF content you have created. It was helpful to have your perspective on a lot of the game's mechanics and strategies. Even if I decide to pick up another game, I can use that way of thinking to help plan out resource management better. If you do make content for other games, I will be sure to give that a look.

Hey man, just wanna say thanks for all you've done for the community. Love you and appreciate you. My heart wants to believe that scopley will see this video and go back to the simplicity and fun that this game once was, but my brain knows better. They're set in their ways of what they think will make them the most money. Maybe they're right, but seems to me that they'd rather make a lot of money in 1 year, than a good amount of money every year for 10 years+. They don't seem to be in it for the long haul. Thank you, this exactly what I needed. This whole year I’ve been telling myself to quit the game but for some reason I’m still playing. I told myself the fallacy. Why quit? You have been playing for years all that time and effort for nothing. That’s right of course but by not quitting you’re wasting even more of your time. Thanks to your video you’ve opened my mind and I finally decided to quit the game today. I already feel much happier much more free and most importantly I have more time left to do other things.
Smartest thing I've done this year was quit the game after the MLF event. Scopely just doesn't care about making the game fun and when they dubiously banhammered our alliance leader without warning it was the final straw. Regained so much real life by dropping this time waster

A game that is essentially a skinner box just won't be entertaining if the game also tells you exactly how to use the resources you click the same buttons for day in and day out, hours on end. I still play SWGOH was well and I'd love to see you make content covering it or anything else. You have done more for the MSF players than anyone else I can think of and for that we are all in your debt. I even joined a PoH affiliate a long, long time back since I thought so highly of you and your content I figured that it should be a decent organization. It has been, luckily. I just really appreciate your advocacy for the players during your time making content. You decided to fight against a system that normally wouldn't listen to anything other than an appeal to profits, but you still managed to make an impact which really is a testament to your hard work and dedication. You will be deeply missed brother, so I hope I get to see content from you in the future, regardless of what it may be covering. You could make a pizza place iceberg video and I'd watch it. Thanks also for giving me some much needed perspective on the horribly predatory game. Phil, it has been great watching your stuff over the time I have been playing. Honestly this is probably best for you personally because you can feel in the videos how much things have been dragging on you, and while I know you care about the community, you have to do what's best for yourself first and foremost. I applaud you trying to champion the cause as long as you did and your discord is an amazing place to hang out. Not sure I would personally be interested in SWGoH videos, but if it is a game you enjoy, and I know your enjoy community and creating content, then you should absolutely go for it. I think it would do you some good to keep doing something you like to do with a game you feel better about. I know we didn't always agree about things in this game, but I always greatly appreciated your insight and thoughts irregardless of that. I wish you and your family well and hope to still see you around, even if it's in a game I may not play, but one I hope you can continue to find fun with.

Longtime fan here, first-time commenter. Thank you for all the amazing content over the years. Your infographics were like bibles to me, and yours was always the first channel I would check for MSF news. I’m sorry to hear you’re leaving, but I can’t say I’m surprised. You’ve also given me food for thought, as I’ve grown disenchanted with the game recently, having spent WAY too much time and money on it myself - and really, for what? The value proposition for how much “fun” I’m getting out of it just isn’t there anymore, and it hasn’t been for a while. Best of luck to you, and I sincerely hope we play the same game again some time down the road.
I started around launch, and after not having a real alliance for a few months I kind of just bailed. When I came back it was fun and I could progress having found a new group who actually wanted to play and progress. I had a decent job, could afford offers and at the time I was excited for characters that came out. In the past year I’ve lost my job and haven’t been able to find something else, and keeping up with the game is hard. Partially cause I don’t have a ton of extra cash to spend anyway and because there’s no choice. I hate hoarding and that’s what I feel like I have to do because we need this team to unlock this character and then their whole team to unlock apocalypse and there’s not enough resources to upgrade anyone outside of those build paths if you don’t or can’t spend money. That’s not to mention stuff like Gambit, sunfire, and even scarlet spider only being 3 stars for the most part for anyone f2p. Along with most of these monthly events giving 3 stars unless you get every single thing from every event. Can’t miss a thing to barely get your 4 star! With no variety I have to push up characters that are barely useable with the low star levels just to get apocalypse or one of the horsemen. I hate that I can’t dump all my resources into bionic avengers because I have to worry about something being tech for apocalypse. Or that I have to rebuild my stock because I have to g16 unlimited xmen for a game mode I kinda hate. Apologies for the rant but I appreciate your content and may you find another game infinitely more fun and not full of developers with the motto of “fuck you pay me”
I've played this game since Beta, thought when Black Panther came out he would be awesome. At the time Widow was #1 in the game. Then we got team synergies, and etc. and on and on. That said, I've never commented here, but I believe I'm right behind you moving on from MSF...thank you very much for what you have done, always awesome. Used to be you could really theory craft teams and build some crazy stuff off the reservation. When they introduced team synergies, and maybe BH or Guardians was the first I remember, that all went out the window. The ability to create combo teams with characters you have went from fun to non-existent. You either have these 5 characters or, well, you're screwed because while you can combo them with others...you can't really do that and be successful in the game. So I hear you, and all the best moving on, hope I can follow you into the next adventure.
Philosopher, thank you so much for all your help and guidance over the years. Your videos were always a pleasure to watch, and they really helped shape my approach and strategy in MSF. Good for you for choosing to move on. I’m a 1200+ day player, and truthfully, I’m on the ropes as well. For me, while I genuinely like the Apocolapyse saga that is unfolding, the art of the game, and the new characters that are coming out, the business/economics side of the game continues to pinch harder and harder. I’m mostly free to play, but after missing some Hulkbuster Blitz rotations (we lost power for a few hours one day, and we had a birthday party for our girls, ages 5 and 2), I spent $10 to get the fourth star on him, and I felt so dirty, lol. Their trap worked. As the agency to strategically shape my roster narrows, I feel less and less like someone playing a game and more and more like a mouse in a lab running a maze to earn a food pellet, over and over again. I’m going to continue to follow you with interest to see what game you head to next, and I’m intrigued by SWGOH - perhaps you could do a video for new players starting out there? This was my first time playing a mobile mmo and i only started playing because around launch was when i finally got into the MCU. I played casually at first but as i grew and got more into the game I started looking for strategies and ways to better build my roster. This was during the pandemic and I wound up coming across your channel. Not only did you help me become one of the strongest in my alliance but you taught me how to better manage resources and to not care about "keeping up" because no matter how much you spend the ceiling will always get raised. This has helped me better enjoy the game. Looking at shop prices is crazy because I don't see how video game resources can equate to some real world value. $100 in real life gets you super collectors edition video games with artwork, music, Merch and other collectibles. In MSF it gets you 2 characters out of a total 5 man team you'll need for a game mode. What really needs to happen is for people to stop spending then maybe they'll lower prices
It's sad that buying a whole new single player game is cheaper than a new character release. That's considering character release and materials to level it up. And it feels like you get more from the new game. Sorry to see you go.

Wow, this is kind of a big deal. Your amazingly thorough and detailed videos are what got me into MSF last year. I left the game about a month ago. One day it just clicked that I'd never get off the treadmill and that I'd have to devote considerable time and money to keep advancing in the game. Games are supposed to be fun. This stopped being fun and became an obligation. I also started to notice the decidedly negative titles of various videos from other content creators, like Boilon. Videos just became more negative, detailing what was wrong with the game and not what was great about it. That was another clue. So, when it clicked for me I deleted MSF from my tablet, unsubscribed from a bunch of creators and never looked back, until I saw this video posted. Good luck, Phil. Yours were some of the best, most detailed, and least annoying videos for this game.
I haven't posted much here(if at all), just lurked in the shadows. I wanted to say thank you for everything Philosopher! Your content was among the best if not the best out there and I always looked for your videos for information about characters, teams, dark dimension, etc first. You will be missed for sure in the community, especially since you advocated for us the most. My jaw was on the floor when you said that SWGoH took very little of your time each day as MSF seems to take hours as you said. With you gone, I am contemplating leaving the game as well and possibly starting up SWGoH (would love to see some content from you covering this). Only reason I haven't left yet is the community; love my cluster and alliance. I would also definitely check out any other games you do content for as well as you really did a great job with the MSF content. I look forward to seeing your future content if you decide to put any more out, but either way I wish you the best in your future!
I would usually listen to your content on my drive into work. Of all the content creators, I've always felt that your coverage was the most... thoughtful? and even-handed. I've enjoyed the hours I've spent listening to your coverage, weighing your advice. It's hard to watch what's happening to our game. Harder still when the money is more important than our voices. We tell Marvel the kinds of Movies that we'd like to see, and they listen (at least some of the time), so we keep going back. We tell Scopely the kind of game we want to play, but they stick to this path, knowing that it limits the time the game will remain interesting. My day will come too. Thanks for being an advocate. I agree with all the things you said in this video and have been thinking of quitting for a while. I’ve already left my more intense alliance who I was with for two years because it became too much work. This is heartbreaking to hear, as you are most definitely my favorite streamer and content creator for this game. Will definitely stay tuned for whatever you move on to in the future. I had a long paragraph that I was about to post, but in honor of the style that you used to make MSF content with, I deleted it and changed it to be more positive, so no talk of devs or mods or roadmaps. Thanks for all the MSF content you have created. It was helpful to have your perspective on a lot of the game's mechanics and strategies. Even if I decide to pick up another game, I can use that way of thinking to help plan out resource management better. If you do make content for other games, I will be sure to give that a look.

My heart wants to believe that scopley will see this video and go back to the simplicity and fun that this game once was, but my brain knows better. They're set in their ways of what they think will make them the most money. Maybe they're right, but seems to me that they'd rather make a lot of money in 1 year, than a good amount of money every year for 10 years+. They don't seem to be in it for the long haul. I told myself the fallacy. Why quit? You have been playing for years all that time and effort for nothing. That’s right of course but by not quitting you’re wasting even more of your time.

Smartest thing I've done this year was quit the game after the MLF event. Scopely just doesn't care about making the game fun and when they dubiously banhammered our alliance leader without warning it was the final straw. Regained so much real life by dropping this time waster

A game that is essentially a skinner box just won't be entertaining if the game also tells you exactly how to use the resources you click the same buttons for day in and day out, hours on end. I still play SWGOH was well and I'd love to see you make content covering it or anything else. You have done more for the MSF players than anyone else I can think of and for that we are all in your debt. I even joined a PoH affiliate a long, long time back since I thought so highly of you and your content I figured that it should be a decent organization. It has been, luckily. I just really appreciate your advocacy for the players during your time making content. You decided to fight against a system that normally wouldn't listen to anything other than an appeal to profits, but you still managed to make an impact which really is a testament to your hard work and dedication. You will be deeply missed brother, so I hope I get to see content from you in the future, regardless of what it may be covering. You could make a pizza place iceberg video and I'd watch it. Honestly this is probably best for you personally because you can feel in the videos how much things have been dragging on you, and while I know you care about the community, you have to do what's best for yourself first and foremost.
I applaud you trying to champion the cause as long as you did and your discord is an amazing place to hang out.
Not sure I would personally be interested in SWGoH videos, but if it is a game you enjoy, and I know your enjoy community and creating content, then you should absolutely go for it. I think it would do you some good to keep doing something you like to do with a game you feel better about.
I know we didn't always agree about things in this game, but I always greatly appreciated your insight and thoughts irregardless of that.

Longtime fan here, first-time commenter. Thank you for all the amazing content over the years. Your infographics were like bibles to me, and yours was always the first channel I would check for MSF news. I’m sorry to hear you’re leaving, but I can’t say I’m surprised. You’ve also given me food for thought, as I’ve grown disenchanted with the game recently, having spent WAY too much time and money on it myself - and really, for what? The value proposition for how much “fun” I’m getting out of it just isn’t there anymore, and it hasn’t been for a while. Best of luck to you, and I sincerely hope we play the same game again some time down the road.

I started around launch, and after not having a real alliance for a few months I kind of just bailed. When I came back it was fun and I could progress having found a new group who actually wanted to play and progress. I had a decent job, could afford offers and at the time I was excited for characters that came out. In the past year I’ve lost my job and haven’t been able to find something else, and keeping up with the game is hard. Partially cause I don’t have a ton of extra cash to spend anyway and because there’s no choice. I hate hoarding and that’s what I feel like I have to do because we need this team to unlock this character and then their whole team to unlock apocalypse and there’s not enough resources to upgrade anyone outside of those build paths if you don’t or can’t spend money. That’s not to mention stuff like Gambit, sunfire, and even scarlet spider only being 3 stars for the most part for anyone f2p. Along with most of these monthly events giving 3 stars unless you get every single thing from every event. Can’t miss a thing to barely get your 4 star! With no variety I have to push up characters that are barely useable with the low star levels just to get apocalypse or one of the horsemen. I hate that I can’t dump all my resources into bionic avengers because I have to worry about something being tech for apocalypse. Or that I have to rebuild my stock because I have to g16 unlimited xmen for a game mode I kinda hate. Apologies for the rant but I appreciate your content and may you find another game infinitely more fun and not full of developers with the motto of “fuck you pay me”

I've played this game since Beta, thought when Black Panther came out he would be awesome. At the time Widow was #1 in the game. Then we got team synergies, and etc. and on and on. That said, I've never commented here, but I believe I'm right behind you moving on from MSF...thank you very much for what you have done, always awesome. Used to be you could really theory craft teams and build some crazy stuff off the reservation. When they introduced team synergies, and maybe BH or Guardians was the first I remember, that all went out the window. The ability to create combo teams with characters you have went from fun to non-existent. You either have these 5 characters or, well, you're screwed because while you can combo them with others...you can't really do that and be successful in the game. So I hear you, and all the best moving on, hope I can follow you into the next adventure.

Philosopher, thank you so much for all your help and guidance over the years. Your videos were always a pleasure to watch, and they really helped shape my approach and strategy in MSF. Good for you for choosing to move on. I’m a 1200+ day player, and truthfully, I’m on the ropes as well. For me, while I genuinely like the Apocolapyse saga that is unfolding, the art of the game, and the new characters that are coming out, the business/economics side of the game continues to pinch harder and harder. I’m mostly free to play, but after missing some Hulkbuster Blitz rotations (we lost power for a few hours one day, and we had a birthday party for our girls, ages 5 and 2), I spent $10 to get the fourth star on him, and I felt so dirty, lol. Their trap worked. As the agency to strategically shape my roster narrows, I feel less and less like someone playing a game and more and more like a mouse in a lab running a maze to earn a food pellet, over and over again. I’m going to continue to follow you with interest to see what game you head to next, and I’m intrigued by SWGOH - perhaps you could do a video for new players starting out there? This was my first time playing a mobile mmo and i only started playing because around launch was when i finally got into the MCU. I played casually at first but as i grew and got more into the game I started looking for strategies and ways to better build my roster. This was during the pandemic and I wound up coming across your channel. Not only did you help me become one of the strongest in my alliance but you taught me how to better manage resources and to not care about "keeping up" because no matter how much you spend the ceiling will always get raised. This has helped me better enjoy the game. Looking at shop prices is crazy because I don't see how video game resources can equate to some real world value. $100 in real life gets you super collectors edition video games with artwork, music, Merch and other collectibles. In MSF it gets you 2 characters out of a total 5 man team you'll need for a game mode. What really needs to happen is for people to stop spending then maybe they'll lower prices
It's sad that buying a whole new single player game is cheaper than a new character release. That's considering character release and materials to level it up. And it feels like you get more from the new game. Sorry to see you go.

Wow, this is kind of a big deal. Your amazingly thorough and detailed videos are what got me into MSF last year. I left the game about a month ago. One day it just clicked that I'd never get off the treadmill and that I'd have to devote considerable time and money to keep advancing in the game. Games are supposed to be fun. This stopped being fun and became an obligation. I also started to notice the decidedly negative titles of various videos from other content creators, like Boilon. Videos just became more negative, detailing what was wrong with the game and not what was great about it. That was another clue. So, when it clicked for me I deleted MSF from my tablet, unsubscribed from a bunch of creators and never looked back, until I saw this video posted. Good luck, Phil. Yours were some of the best, most detailed, and least annoying videos for this game.

I haven't posted much here(if at all), just lurked in the shadows. I wanted to say thank you for everything Philosopher! Your content was among the best if not the best out there and I always looked for your videos for information about characters, teams, dark dimension, etc first. You will be missed for sure in the community, especially since you advocated for us the most. My jaw was on the floor when you said that SWGoH took very little of your time each day as MSF seems to take hours as you said. With you gone, I am contemplating leaving the game as well and possibly starting up SWGoH (would love to see some content from you covering this). Only reason I haven't left yet is the community; love my cluster and alliance. I would also definitely check out any other games you do content for as well as you really did a great job with the MSF content. I look forward to seeing your future content if you decide to put any more out, but either way I wish you the best in your future!

I would usually listen to your content on my drive into work. Of all the content creators, I've always felt that your coverage was the most... thoughtful? and even-handed. I've enjoyed the hours I've spent listening to your coverage, weighing your advice.
It's hard to watch what's happening to our game. Harder still when the money is more important than our voices. We tell Marvel the kinds of Movies that we'd like to see, and they listen (at least some of the time), so we keep going back. We tell Scopely the kind of game we want to play, but they stick to this path, knowing that it limits the time the game will remain interesting. My day will come too.
