1:57 Listen close guys. Gaston's not only begging the beast for his life...he's asking for _mercy_ . Kinda interesting how the "beast" did the same when he was a human. If you really think about it, the melting of the beast's face when he listens to Gaston's plea and that gentle piece of music from the opening sequence that plays at the same time...I'd like to think that the beast was having very disturbing recollections of when the fairy-slash-old woman turned him into a monster. He couldn't help but have mercy
The Beast realized that Gaston is the monster he would have become if the Enchantress never cursed him. Gaston is what the Beast used to be: arrogant, selfish, temperamental and egotistical.
If only Best Animated Picture award was present at the time in the Academy. It would’ve won easily. Especially movies like Aladdin, Lion King, Toy Story 1 & 2 and Mulan
They're both almost evenly matched in terms of strength. Despite the Beast being the stronger of the two, Gaston proved capable of holding his own well. He's essentially fighting against a CHIMERA (mixture of animals formed to make a single creature). That's not an easy feat.
Gaston's a hunter by trade. He's tangled with animals before, probably including some comparable in size to The Beast. Medieval Europe had bears and bison, and wolves and wild boar are no joke, either.
I absolutely always loved the part where he catches Gaston's weapon. Thunder strikes, music in perfect sync, the camera shifts and the beast is suddenly gigantic, fear takes Gatson as he slowly realizes he's fighting a 500kg 9ft tall monster.
As a little girl, I was half scared of this scene but also completely confused about what was going on in this scene because I was so young. But now that I’m older it makes sense🥺😣
With all honesty, that moment when the Beast regains his strength to fight back when Gaston is about to strike him with a club literally gave me chills more than Simba and Scar's fight on Pride Rock.
Gaston is the perfect plot twist villain He was handsome and wanted to marry Belle but Beast kidnapped her and the wedding has been rejected It turns out Beast is a good guy after all!
@Kodaku-64 Um, yes they did made the deal to let her not leave but she wasn't isolated. No one was guarding her, the Beast did let her go anywhere except the West Wing and he did let her settle in. Plus when she did leave, he saved her and she didn't mope about it and leave. She brought him back to the tower to help heal him. Plus around the ending, Beast did let her go to help her father because he loves her.
I didn't remember this fight, but tbh man Gaston is really really strong!!, the Beast was massive Gaston really seemed to be on pair with him. Clayton is no match for Gaston, i don't remember any other Disney villain (human) as strong as him.
To those who don't know, there is a book called "The Beast Within" in which it dives more into the story of "Beauty and the Beast" that we never knew and it gives more meaning to this scene. In it, it said that when the Beast was in his human form, he was best friends with Gaston. The Enchantress and Beast/Prince were engaged to be married, but Gaston loved her too. Keep in mind that at the time, they didn't know she was an enchantress. Gaston then took the Prince to the Enchantress' home in which was some small farm area like cottage. Gaston showed the Prince this because he knew the Prince would be disgusted and call off the engagement so Gaston could have her. The Enchantress was heartbroken when the Prince left her. She of course refused to be with Gaston as well. So wanted to see if the Prince really was this cold hearted and decided to put him in a test. This is when she took on the form of the old beggar woman seeking shelter from the cold. Later on, as the Prince was becoming the Beast, we find out the curse is actually worse. It doesn't just alter his physical appearance. The Beast slowly starts to get more of an animalistic behavior and will soon lose his human memories, similar to what was happening to the queen in Pixar's "Brave" in which she was behaving ore like a real bear. One night, when the Beast was out in the night in the woods, he saw Gaston and almost killed him. It was at that moment that Beast knew he had to stay away from his friend in order to protect him. So during this scene, the Beast actually loses his human memories briefly and the Beast personality has taken over. The Enchantress (and her sisters) watch this fight and when the Beast is about to kill Gaston, the Enchantress can't let him go through with it. So she uses her powers to regain the Beast's memories. With that, 2:07 when the Beast's face changes realizes what he's doing, that is really because the Enchantress' magic made him remember Gaston and he realized he was about to kill his friend.
What I find creepy is if you watch the part where Gaston falls and dies at 0.25x speed if you pause at the right moment you can see skulls in gastons eyes
@David Guo Pasadena City College he's right pause at the moment and look at his eyes carefully. There are skulls are referring as he's falling to his death.
@@KohlerSAStudios yep I remember the scene. Batman says let her go and the joker says very poor choice of words and drops her off the roof. The dark Knight is my favorite movie of all time so I just had to ask.
Gaston looks so much like Henry Cavill. At least in the remake they would have made him a more ambiguous character, but no, he follows the original frame by frame
I love he Here's bell's voice and all of his strength comes back and he catches the Stonepiece the look on his face when he sees how strong he is he truly looks terrified
Belle helped him find his long lost humanity and compassion and he was originally resigned to die alone until she came back. She came back willingly to save him so he had a reason to live and fight for who he loved.
I love how the same guy who has absurd strength and is the best at everything just got his butt kicked by someone who spent the past 10 years sulking and should be completely out of shape.

I prefer this fight to the live action, because here the Beast was fighting like a true beast.

As of this scene, Beast has now interacted with every other main character in the movie except for Lefou.
Lefou would be terrified of him, he already got scared from his servants in kitchen
I love the fact that Adam just fights back when he sees Belle
