They got rid of freezers in my local B&M as well asked staff why and they said it was costing too much for the electric to run the freezers all down to the cost of living crisis. B&M are the same company as Heron so go there for freezer shopping because its the same stuff 😉😊👍

I buy the Kershaws liver dinners from Heron Foods ( part of B&M ) and served with some greens ,like sprouts or cabbage , they are very good. I find them useful if I want a quick meal if I have been out and too tired to cook when I get home. It's not easy buying just enough liver for one person and these meals get over that problem. At present, they cost £6 for 3.

That was a decent serving from Kershaw's. I quite liked its presentation too, with the vegetables being separate from the hotpot itself. There is almost a level of honesty about it that I like. It's like you get a choice to mix it all in or not. I would be happy to try the one from Kershaw's on the back of this. I might get one tomorrow. ^_^
The Bisto one looked richer (largely because of the gravy probably), in that it felt like it had a bit of depth. But just looking at it and the size of the portion, it left me wanting more like there was something lacking. Each to their own, I guess. Another great video, Gareth.

Hi Gareth from Spain where it is sunny and 19°. To me a hotpot is sliced meat from last weekend's joint interleaved with potato slices, not mince and tatties so that you get proper meat not sweepings from the kitchen floor. Bisto gravy, these days, contains a lot of salt.

To be honest, I've never heard of Kershaw's meals before. So after a bit googling I found that Morrison's and ASDA sell Kershaw's ready meals. I haven't shopped in Morrison's for at least 15 years. So on my next trip to ASDA I'm going to check them out. Both stores sell their 400gm meals @ £2.49. I did like the look of the hot pot you reviewed and I like the way they presented the veggies and when mixed in looked good. I did find it odd though that were no onions. 🤔🤔. Keep up the good work Gareth 👍👍😃😃.

I prefer to make my own with a variety of vegetables but, as for the comparison, I'd opt for the Bisto only due to the shape and size of the tub for a meal to take to work for the microwave. They both look good and, they look pretty much the same as the picture on the box. Quite often I've been fooled by a nice photo of food and when it's cooked it looks poor compared. Thank you 😀👍

Trouble with all these cheap ready meals is they are really bad for your health with way to much salt and saturated fats, I know people are on a tight budget these days but in all fairness when I do a hotpot or stew from scratch, buying the raw ingredients and then slow cooking all day whilst out it works out cheaper per person then these boxes of rubbish, plus there is always left overs to freeze for another day.
it's crazy people buy these and can do there own far cheaper and better for your health but seem to have forgotten how to cook for themselves.

In my experience anything Bisto other than gravy is trash. Nice to see this is an exception.

The anchovies are in the Worcester sauce in the gravy. It said Tamarind next to it which is another Worcester sauce ingredient,

Anchovies are salty ,they are put in for savoury flavours and you will find them in spaghetti bolognaise as well

Given as they were both tasty I think I'd go for the Bisto hotpot as it has way less salt. Also not a major fan of peas. Rather add my own veg(though ofc then it wouldn't really work as such a convenience meal).
