@@johniii8147many shows have a starting point and develop throughout it's existence. This was a standard ensemble cast. And 99% of us fans love all 4 characters not just one of them, btw:Kim fought for equal rights. Just like the actors on Friends. For all 4 of them! You must be young and not have followed the actual unfolding of the situation. Boy am I glad Kim finally got what she deserved when the president of HBO called and made sure she got one million dollars for 2 minutes on film without Sarah! Sarha tried EVERYTHING to destroy Kim's Samantha: the cancer plot, the Dubai plot and the proposed teenager Brady seducing Samantha in the last film which Kim refused! Good job! Most fans are fans of Kim anyway.

@@monapop Yeah I'm a young 55 year old lol. I was there for the whole thing. What we didn't know about at the time was all the drama going on with Kim and SJP at the time. That was under wraps. I don't buy the "equal rights thing". This was ego that SJP was a producer and that star and made more money. It was always set up that way that everything revolved around the character. She got all that in the contract from the start. Smart business move. Kim was jealous. And could for her for getting that million bucks for a bad short scene. Now that was a smart business move to. I respect Kim's decision to move on. Her character wouldn't have played well today anyway.

@@johniii8147 SJP is not a producer at the start though. She renegotiate to have her as a producer later on. Kim is right for asserting what she think is right. After all, it's her who will do the job anyway. When she refused to do Season 7, SATC wrapped. So she is not just a supporting character after all.

SATC was life changing for a generation of women. I was a young woman watching this and since we didn’t have the internet back then, this is where I learned about sex toys, stds, orgasms, fetishes, masturbation….all those things you were too embarrassed to ask about. But it wasn’t just about sex. It was also about friendship, love, relationships, heartbreak, homosexuality, fashion, cancer, infertility, pregnancy, menopause…you name it, it was in there. The characters were flawed too, just as people are. People like to look down on anything that has a mainly female fan base and dismiss it as garbage. This show changed lives and how women view themselves, their bodies and their sexuality.

Kim‘a role was the most physically demanding and she was 10 years older than the others . Just mere fact she had to be in great shape all of the time probably was as intense as SJP’s role if not more

I was in my thirties when I started watching the series and thrilled they brought fashion back and stilettos ….I had a lot of beautiful clothes and even more shoes …..fashion had taken a nose dive for women before that show and then came back femininity…it was great…I was a huge fan and my daughter who was a young adult even called me when movie came out and said I’m sure you already know …I said yup ….yessssss it was a great time I was sad to see it go ….

That train wreck last year, with the comeback season, ruined my life. Everything good that was S&TC was utterly obliterated. Sadly, I spent the 90s watching a bunch of eventual sellouts. Now when I think of the show, I'm disgusted and want nothing to do with it. Kim Cattrall is the only one who saved face.

I am a big fan of SATC. I believe Kim has an alfa personolity and she knew her impact on the show. Let’s be honest, without Kim Catrall, sex and the city would not be SATC! She was everything in this show and she asked for it. I am not blaming her for that, and deep down I believe they really had good chemistry. But money and bossy attitudes can ruin any friendship.

I remember SjP in the 1989 movie *Flight Of The Navigator* she plays the character Carolyn McAdams who helps David [main character] escape from captivity so he can get back to the ship. Still a terrific family movie, and still worth watching today. SjP has always come across and honest and narutal throughout her interviews and talks.

This historical biography most importantly: Gave me the background of the four principal actresses, to prove that even before their initial success with Sex and the City, that acting certainly was their primary motivation at an early age, regardless of what the future had in store for them. (Thus, now they are are all "A List" given the work they put into their careers over their lifetimes, all deserving of their success, and the low-key modesty they tend to exhume when interviewed is just a sign of the professionalism that they all have had and developed, over time.) Combined with all the other supporting actors, writers, directors, producers, and crew and the timing of the series debut during the Womens' Movement into the 21st Century, allow for the arrow to hit a "double bullseye", when it comes to this kind of story and the relevance of the topic, within its genre and within its particular era.
In short, everything about Sex in the City came together with using the right type of people in the right place, at the right time.
Strange, that someone like myself would find so much within such a series like Sex and the City, but I do. Women wanting to open-up their lives, yet still cooperating with men at the same time, I think, is a beautiful thing. So long as it is realistic, individually, and productive for society, as a whole.
And, as a side note, I can easily see why the filming of Sex in the City was highly popular in France, when it was done by the cast and crew. A more open, progressive female lifestyle, coupled with fashion would all be more universally accepted by most upper-class Europeans, and enjoyed. (And any true romantic would "always have Paris" in their heart, regardless.)
