    Great video on chain cleaning . I love how very well informed your videos are. Here, you are engaging 1st gear and cleaning and lubing the chain, isn't it bad ? I have seen other motorcyclist say it's a bad method to clean or lube the chain. Shouldn't it be rotated by hand ?

    Very well shown the chain maintenance. One should be extremely careful while the chain is driven. DIY beginners better manually rotate the wheel till they are conversant with the methods. Remove the key from the vehicle , while doing periodical maintenance.

    • @thesportztourer
      @thesportztourer  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Vamshi,
      Cleaning and lubrication is a regular need depending upon the riding conditions. Usually chain lubrication should be done every 500-600km while cleaning should be done around every 2000-3000km (depending upon the chain condition).

    Hey bro, needed your advice on the chain noise. Surprisingly, there is this knocking in the chain when there is weight put on the bike i.e. rider only or plus pillion. And this sound is there after a certain rotation of the chain happening throughout all gears, 1st and 2nd being the highest. When the bike is kept in the main stand and started with free movement of gear change there no sound being heard like the knocking part.. had taken it to the service center yet they were not able to understand what this problem is as it’s definitely not coming out of the engine.

    • @thesportztourer
      @thesportztourer  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi,
      Chemically diesel is one of the best degreaser with good solubility & lower volatile nature, which helps to drain the dirt deposits from the chain link. Flash point of diesel is high enough to make it safe to use it on chain (any ways we clean the residue) and it doesn't ignites with spark/static. Only thing that should of concern is the oxidation rate of a degreaser which very slow in case of diesel (but present) so it necessary that we wipe out the residue diesel. Being a strong degreaser it cleans thoroughly but we should always take care that latter the chain links are lubed propertly. However in cold countries where temperature reaches lower than 0 deg C, diesel fails to act as degreaser as it has a tendency to turn into jelly state when stored in open (non insulated/iso-thermal way). In such case citrus based degreaser are used. So technically Diesel won't have any adverse effect when used for cleaning O ring chain.

      @kaleshivam 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am so frustrated of that sound even the tvs mechanics can't recognise the problem i purchased my vehicle on 26 march 2017 so it's not an issue of old chain.

    • @thesportztourer
      @thesportztourer  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Shivam, a little bit of noise is expected from every chain. If it is still occurring after cleaning & lubing then adjusting the chain slack seems to be the option. Also open the front sprocket cover & check if anything is interfering there with then front sprocket.
      Also check for the noise on other bikes in the service station so that you can explain your problem to the mechanic/service advisor.

      Hi +srinivas1234 madugula, well its difficult to judge & give a solution like this but I would say check on the chain slider. Noise from the chain can either be due to lack of proper clean & lubrication (not applicable in your case as you said your chain is lubed), chain slack adjustment or alignment issues. As the noise is random you have to check the source. Hope this would be useful for you.

      Hi +Debasish Gourav,

    • @thesportztourer
      @thesportztourer  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi +Debasish Gourav,
      Actually wax won't be required but if want to use one on matte paint then go for liquid wax or quick detailer, Avoid using paste or hard wax as they give out shine which isn't required on matte paint surface. Don't directly apply on the surface, use a microfibre cloth instead to apply.
      Paint manufacturers & detailing companies would still advice to just wash & wipe matte paint & no extra care like wax/polish/rubbing would be required. So it's very easy to maintain matte surface.

    I own a Apache rtr 200 4v race edition 2.0, 5gears and as per the forums my bike has a 13 teeth front sprocket and a 45 teeth rear sprocket, I use my motorcycle for touring purpose and minimal to none city riding, I didn't think much about the lack of 6th gear and the shorter gearing but now I'm noticing it a lot and it's a bit annoying to while cruising at highway speeds at 6k-7k rpm, so I'm thinking of replacing my front 13 teeth sprocket with a 14 or 15 teeth sprocket, but the question I have is is it safe to do and if so which sprocket do I get? I heard the apache 160 has a 14 teeth sprocket, is it compatible with my apache 200, pulsar 180 and 150 have a 15 teeth sprocket, will it be compatible with my apache 200, its been 2 months since I bought the motor cycle and the odo reads 1400kms, I do understand that the chain and sprocket should be replaced as a set for better wear, since the odo reading is less and the sprocket is relatively new, I'm planning to replace only the front sprocket, please guide me

    • @thesportztourer
      @thesportztourer  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Harish, you can use Kerosene but I would still prefer diesel. Diesel is more refined & cleaner liquid (less prone to oxidation).
      No clear damage with Kerosene but you may face some some hard time cleaning up the Kerosene residue from the chain & spills around the bike (wheels, swing arm etc) & off course the smell of kerosene vapours/fumes.
      P.S: Be very careful with your fingers if you are working on running chain.
      All the best.

      Hi +Manash Sarkar,
      Yes you can use SAE 90 gear oil to lubricant the chain. It is cost effective & works well.
      My experience with gear oil was good, the only issue with gear oil is the mess it creates. Its spills/sprays around a lot & also attracts dust/dirt.

    • @thesportztourer
      @thesportztourer  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Amit,
      Chain cleaner is nothing but degreaser.
      Yes, I do have the Motul chain cleaner which I use for my long rides as it makes the job easier (and easy to carry).

    • @thesportztourer
      @thesportztourer  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      arshad javed Hi, congratulations to you on your 200. The 270mm front & 240mm rear disc brakes performs efficiently on the RTR 200. I would suggest you to practice braking with braking forces distributed as 70% from front brake & rest 30% from rear brake. Remember braking from your side should be progressive. No the disc brakes on RTR or as a matter on any bike are not adjustable for braking force/performance. Ride safe.

    • @thesportztourer
      @thesportztourer  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +arshad javed I personally won't recommend any polish/wax for matte colours. As these things are used to bring shine/gloss which will beat the purpose of having matte colour. Matte colors are generally very durable colors which don't require any special attention that is reason you find them in many commercial & defence vehicle. Use a good washing product & a microfiber cloth to clean the bike.
