Wet nicely done Jordan, the length and pauses gave a lot of depth to the film, sad about the whole of the situation but grateful for the opportunity to have viewed the tale portrayed so thoughtfully. Best of luck to all involved 🙏
Just found out about this boat from a news story on WCVB. Great documentary. I though Doug Jackson of SV Seeker was the first visionary to make a boat in his back yard. Hope he can get his ship to water.
Because a bunch of rich old dolts paid for a "view" and then dedicate their entire life to making sure nothing within their precious "view" ever changes. They think just because they bought a house they own everything they can see out their window.
His dream of helping others would surely be recognized by donating the next phase of this project to a marine or tech school for hands on training and design. Cheers from Jacksonville Florida 🌞
I pray his dream comes true somehow. If I won the lottery tomorrow, that's were my money would go! My ancestor, John Webster, of Freeport built a ship in his back yard! Then sailed it to England stocked with wood! God bless you!😊
Why do the neighbors have any worry about the launch. They are not dredging they are not cutting big trees. There is plenty of water to launch that boat. You know we have these great schooners that rich people praise and they were built in coves like where I live on Little Deer isle not expensive boat yards like Brooklyn Boat. Let the guy launch his boat.
Hi Jordan, thank you for documenting Harold's story. What an beautiful vessel, and what an amazing mind that put her together. I really hope, that she may reach water someday. I am 6 years in rebuilding a former fueltanker boat into a live-aboard using recycled materials, seeing Harald's yard is something I only could dream off. What a beautiful film you have made, with great interviews, I will share it with my friends. Best regards, from Copenhagen, Denmark.
Hey thank you for taking time to watch! Omala looks like a great boat you are giving new life. I'll have to watch more about her. Happy to see another kindred shipbuilding spirit out there for Harold.
Twenty two years ago I learned how to use a plasma cutting torch and cut out some of the steel deck beams on this ship. Harold is quite a character and working on the boat was a unique experience.
@MaxwellMurphy-k5z Hey Maxwell, really appreciate you finding this and watching. Unfortunately without a budget or other backing I think the only thing to do is hope people connect with Harold's story and share it around. Thanks again for your time -
At the end of the day, if the partner owner of the vessel owns waterfront property where they plan to launch the boat, there isnt a fucking thing the city can do about it and they can eat rocks. Federal Law declares all navigable waters as a public right of way and neither the town nor the homeowners association have any legal standing to interfere.
Interesting point - thanks for watching. From what I understand the temporary ramp / constructions they'd need to launch the boat is somehow able to be blocked via the neighbors complaint to a coastal protection agency.
@JordanMeeder That sounds like maybe theyre afraid of being liable in civil court then. Just because it's not illegal doesn't mean they won't be sued unfortunately.
what have we become ? boats have been built near the shore for thousands of years and now people from "away"tell us what we can do , what a great way to recycle steel , if it never launches turn it into a house
@OliverChisholm they were squared away and on the verge of launching in fall of 2023 after this was released. They overcame some major legal obstacles and reached agreement with the town that had been an issue for years, then were blocked again via some other route of legal appeal by the neighbors. So as of today, still in limbo.
its just completely crazy that some snobish ritch people can completely mess up a mans life dream , being that he started building his boat before there was any body around . holy crap the road might get marked or a tree or two get damaged . let the man have his dream he did not buy it he built it .
@@JordanMeeder Thanks. Yeah, we cant do what we want on our own property, earn some extra money, buy us something nice or have dreams without being picked on by authorities and neighbors. Even in my small country. I think it is in humans natur to do so.
Actors and spectators Harold, actors and spectators ! You are part of the former's but you ain't rich so the bourgeois on the sidelines will eat you alive so that in the end they can have all the green grass & comfort that money and power can afford them. That's the way it goes. Maybe, indeed, you were born a century too late. Maybe, you are/have become just too much of a "nutcase" (you certainly are one I mean: voting for Trump, dooms day & weird esoteric stuff...). But it does not make you or your dreams crazy or irrelevant. It is they, the spectators who rule and own the world now and they don't leave much space around for guys like you (and me). That's the way it is. By the way, I tip my hat to you and all the good people around you who have helped you along the way.
If they don't let them launch the boat there they should put a double wide right on that road and see how the neighbors like that. Don't Connecticut Maine.
Extraordinary documentary- had all the melancholic resonance of Grey Gardens.
BZ to Jordan Meeder and all those involved making this gem.
Appreciate your time, Bill - thank you for watching.
That was excellent.
Was told about the film from a resident of the area.
Appreciate you taking time to watch!
@@JordanMeeder Great doc. Well done.
@@williamhamill813 Appreciate it!

Good luck friends.
What a fantastic documentary. Go Harold!!
Hey thank you!
What the heck is wrong with people? Let the man launch his boat.
They just don't give a damn about ANYONE but themselves. Such a sad situation.
People suck sometimes.

That's an interesting idea - seems like whoever or however the boat moves there'll be quite a few hurdles at this point. Thank you for watching.

The world is way short of men like Harold
Agreed - thank you for taking a look John.

Harold told me about your work on the ship! Thank you for taking a look.
Very interesting. Reminds me of the tv show Salvage 1 with Andy Griffith about a man that makes a homemade spaceship from scrap.
Thanks for checking it out!
good job
Thank you Frank
This is the best documentary I have seen in awhile. As a new englander myself how do we get this into more local theatres to get the word out?

Let the man finish his dream
Really people
I wish I was rich
I would help him launch his Boat
I feel the same way Arnold - appreciate you taking time to watch.
should get ahold of Donald Trump , i bet he would help Harold get his boat launched
Haha probably would - good PR for sure.

There is a composite trimaran being built in oregon .it will be launched.
Even if they don't like Harold, the boat has value and deserves to fulfill it's purpose. These Nimby people really destroy lives
Thank you for watching Mary -
And the boring people ruin all.
Harold , if you have faith ,everything is possible ,even putting your boat in the water ,try a prayer
Beautifully filmed and paced! Excellent interviews. If only the wealthy a-h's hadn't won...
I appreciate you watching Nat - thank you.
Great doc!
Hey thanks for checking it out Harry, glad you liked it.
@ pleasure! Made me homesick having grow up out that way
The design of that ship will break the mold if it ever hits the water
Has any progress been made on the move?

All republican Americans need to march on this town
What a fine woman is partner is.
Why cant people mind their own business, and let other people in peace?! I just wonder, `cause we have the same problem here in Norway.
Sorry to hear it's that widespread - but thank you for watching all the way from Norway!

Listen to carter

What? The film maker is exposing the truth and the brutality of the town administrators.
Call trump hell get that boat moved
