The most famous dishes of Lucknow are kormas, kaliya, nahari-kulchas, zarda, sheermal, roomali rotis and warqi parathas. It is not just the ingredients that are special but also the way they are made by expert hands and the way they are presented. Just looking at an elaborate layout of Lucknow cuisine will make your mouth water. The most famous of all dishes are the Kebabs or the meatballs that come in different varieties. Some of the most famous (and delicious!) varieties of Kebabs are Kakori Kebabs, Shami Kebabs, Boti Kebabs, Patili-ke-Kababs, Ghutwa Kebabs and Seekh Kebabs.

This 125-year-old restaurant in old Lucknow is still one of the best places to go to for non-vegetarian food in the city. What Tunday’s is to kebabs and Idrees is to biryani, Rahim is to Nalla Nihari. The original shop is located in a narrow lane in Akbari Gate in Chowk, that has grown in size over time to include a large seating area, with air-conditioning.
The Nihari, in which the meat is served in a thick, flavourful gravy. , is best served with kulcha, a soft bread that is not to be confused with the kulchas of Punjab! You can order either Paaye ki Nahari or Gosht ki Nahari.
