I was in Dortmund last night and loved every minute of being in the company of my fellow Celtic supporters. From the bottom of my heart I love every single one of those Celtic fans in that away end and who travelled to Dortmund. So many of them made insane journeys across Europe and then buses and trains to Dortmund. Thats what upset me yesterday is that we need a Celtic manager to make these games Contests at the very least. Dortmund fans on Social media were saying that nobody in the Bundesliga would have set-up so open and attacking like that at the Signal Iduna apart from maybe Bayern. That to me says it all and Dortmund players themselves said they were shocked by how open Celtic were. We should put Engles and Callum as 2 number 6s and ask them to block, stop and distribute then we need a slightly deeper back line and then we needed to be very compact. It was wonderful meeting so many Celtic fans but we need these games to become Contests.
I bribed guy to get into the Stadium last night but i was totally pished and I couldnt really follow the game after 3-1 through disgust and the drink. I ended up hitting the bar at 5-1 with 2 Belfast lads. I love every single Celtic fan who made mad journey acoss all sorts of weird European cities to get to Dortmund last night. Multi-millionaire Rodgers showed total arrogance last night chasing person career glory instead of representing those wonderful fans
Just a terrible night boys. However ultimately we'll be judged by the entire campaign. 1 win , 1 loss. Yes we were outclassed tonight, no excuses, but we can't be judged on one game. Thanks for the show boys.
that's about right. I bribed guy to get into the Stadium last night but i was totally pished and I couldnt really follow the game after 3-1 through disgust and the drink. I ended up hitting the bar at 5-1 with 2 Belfast lads
All on Rodgers tonight. It was clear to see after 15 minutes what was coming but he allowed us to continue to be open and expansive against a team far superior to ours. The makings of a dangerous counter attacking team at this level is there with the pace we have up front and ball carrying we have in the midfield but unless we change and have a more rigid structure then the same will happen in Italy in a few weeks.
@@Lupi33z Top of the list should be the captain. Yet again against decent opposition he is chasing shadows. Until we accept that he cant play that pivot / playmaker role in Europe then we will keep gettinf results like this. We need a better / different type of player in that position for these games. Id argue that's the most important position for Europe.
Rodgers bottled it tonight IMO. Knew pragmatic was the way to go but caught up in the hype of the performances and scared to not play that way and get slated if they lost. The smart Rodgers wouldve done what they practiced in pre-season - tight at the back, open on the counter attack. Maybe we lose but dont end up losing by 6. Instead played attacking as we have this season and has brought success but got pumped.
only second game Scales and Trusty have started together doesn't help, but tactically we were pushing too high up against this team...at least sit deep early on
Things weren't working on the push out from the back 4,not used to that class closing down. Playing longer balls over the top to both maeda and kuhn could have taken pressure of us,and possibly exposed them also..Idah being brought on earlier to hold up play, these thing's ironically would have been better done before half time..
If we take more skelpings like this the board will be able to say why spend 20m on 2 players when we do nothing in the CL. We need to adapt to the teams we play like Sevco did a couple of years ago. Going toe to toe against a CL runner up is madness. Leipzig and Bruges will be tough and we need to consider our tactics. Our defence is too easily cut open.
Hammered badly beating brused, thank God they made subs,if the starting team stayed on ,could have been 10 12 14,my heart is broken ,Europe's kick boys
Rodgers wants to classed as an elite manager then he needs to realise cannot stick with this formation 4,3,3 against class European sides, you need to be more tighter in midfield, 4,5,1 or4, 2,3,1. he never seems to learn.
Scales done well. Trusty was slow. Taylor always drifts into the centre of defence when he should stay out wide. Kuhn was absent. Kyogo was also absent. Overall the team were naive beyond belief.
Great show lads shame the performance wasn't as good. That performance was a horror show. I don't understand why Brendan set the team up to be so open it was horrific. It has left me feeling traumatised.
my worry going in was always the defense. We haven't upgraded at LB or CB and our best CB misses another CL game. To be fair though the midfield were also poor....and to be fair to them, they were simply outclassed by a higher level of player.
Playing that open and pressing quality players that far up is idiotic. Anyone with any sense can see we need to treat these games differently and set up to make it difficult and hit on the counter. And for that, Kuhn should be left and Maeda right. You can't break at pace the same if your trying to cut inwards or running with the ball on your weaker foot. We also have no real holding midfielder still. Been an issue for years but we just stick McGregor in that role to ensure he plays because he's the captain. Taylor won't play in this group again. Trusty was awful btw. OK he's on his wrong side but still, he was really bad. We also need to understand that we can't play it out in dangerous positions with teams like this pressing us. They are fitter, faster, better technically. Just keep it tight, make it difficult for them to get any space and break. Wait on chances and corners. Play more attacking at home or against lesser sides. But away to the elite, trying to play like this is pure delusion.
Rangers made the Europa League final beating some good teams (including Dortmund) and weren't even the best team in Scotland. Olympiakos just won a european trophy and the greek league is poor. The 'scottish fitbaw' excuse is a factor, but it doesnt wash as a blanket excuse any more.

Scales was our only player to come out of this game with any credit !

Kyogo is the last player you can blame for that performance...we spent most of the match running backwards after the midfield turned it over

Schmeichel was actually quite poor. His pass to Valle that resulted in a goal was his fault.
