I think most viewers of this kind of video like myself love the footage of the old cars we are familiar with and would prefer to see your written commentary in the upper portion rather than blocking the awesome images. Thank non the less for sharing l did enjoy what I could see.
I think the year is 1965 just after Sir Winston Churchill died, one notable car is an early grey Austin 1800, LMP467C. The red van EAC593C is a Morris and still exists today SORN.
0:40 Watch the helmetless motorcyclist weaving his combination through the traffic. His "sidecar" is a low-slung pipe that extends out from the motorcycle to which a wheel is attached. Riders used to do this so they could ride a 500cc or 650cc bike as a learner. They probably graduated to these from bicycles with fixed-wheel gear and cowhorn bars. I knew a few kids like that... 😂
Great video ruined by massive capitalised text in absurd red boxes taking over a third of the screen. Watch the video for the text, the London scenes are just there as background noise. Shame on whoever was responsible for the edit.
increcibly thoughtless piece of motion graphics. here's a rare sight of 60s london with whopping great text overlay obscuriing over a quarter of the thing people came to see.
Gran was a live in receptionist/telephonist in Harley street (as was her sister) and used to spend school holidays staying in her flat and hated the time when holidays were over and had to catch no.88 bus back to Tooting where we lived.Sixties were a fantastic era and used to love walking Oxford and Regent st. while she worked and then Regents Park to walk the dog later.
Fascinating to see familiar places in such a high-definition film. Notice how small the cars and vans are compared with today's ugly space-hogging monsters (cars should be taxed on the road 'footprint' as well as engine power).
@@flatheadV8 I agree that modern vehicles are a lot safer, especially in terms of braking, handling and crashworthiness, but the bloated 'Chelsea tractors' (SUVs etc) that we see today are about fashion, prestige and projecting aggression rather than necessity. Road space should be charged for - the more space you take up the higher the tax. That would have practical benefits in reducing land take for car parking, reduce congestion annd improve sustainability. It would also force manufacturers to rethink their economic model which is wholly unsustainable in environmental terms, however the vehicle may be powered..
I didn´t spot a single Rolls or Bentley or any fancy foreign sports cars, a high proportion of these cars would have been made in Britain. I started with a Standard Vanguard in 1967, when you couldn't buy a decent car for under ten pounds.
Couldn’t see most of because of the stupid graphics blocking the view… so 3 mins of my life i wont get back. A pity as i was looking forward to seeing the cars
Even I can speak proper English and I was born and bred in Scotland. At the 2.50 mark. "THE NAME PICCADILLY CIRCUS ORIGINATES FROM THE WORD 'PICCADIL' WHICH WAS GARMENTS WORN IN THE 17TH CENTURY" Swap the word WAS with the word WERE.
@@steviewonder7495I do, and it does. However, as a gnarly old loner in the Spanish mountains the comments sections here give me wonderful fodder for my carefully cultivated pedantry and phrases such as "English is the lingua franca of the world " can really make my day. Isn't it ...?
Great video spoilt by the massive graphics obscuring the view of the old vehicles, which ruins the whole premise of the film. The grammar wasn’t brilliant either.

The main difference is the traffic is actually moving and pretty much every car was made in the UK
Couldn’t you get bigger captions? They’re easy to miss.
Ditch the captions........ ugh enough already. Sorry but spoiled a great video.
And the shyte music which is totally inappropriate for the footage anyway 🙄

It is November 1965 as the film poster at 0:17 is for 'The Sons Of Katie Elder' at The Plaza

Great video spoilt by the large captions

Loved the free for all around Hyde Park Corner!

Its Getty Images film. Search here for ''London In The 1960s - Full HD Colour - Getty-Images - Traffic - City Gents - Landmarks''
Ruined by the captions being too big

Legislation requiring more safety features, crush zones, roll over etc., have added width and length to many vehicles.

I knew a bloke in Catford that rode a scooter like that. Complete Wally 😂
Nice Film, however a pity that the text is below and covers a lot. Would be better toput it on top.
Nice Green and Cream Triumph Herald…

0:30 There's a two-tone grey Bentley making its way on the far left of the curve.
There was a Citroen DS in Piccadilly Circus.
Did you spot any litter on the streets ?
Me neither.
Name of tune
Time machine please..
Unsuitable background music for this type of video 😮

An interesting film ruined by the ridiculous captions
Lose the captions and terrible music!

Swap the word WAS with the word WERE.
And in the next statement swap the word WHIHC with the word WHICH.
Don´t reely matter innit ?
