Hey Lauren! Here are some suggestions for fixing your pump wire issue. You will need a volt meter. Put it in DC voltage testing mode. Attach your negative on the voltmeter to the ground on your boat, turn the pump on, and touch the voltmeter positive to the positive wire on the pump. See if you are getting power, you should get a 12.x reading. IF not, you are dealing with possibly a bad wire or bad circuit breaker. If you do show voltage, then the pump is probably bad. Follow the line back to the panel. Test both sides of the circuit breaker. using the above-described method. If you are not 100% sure you are on the correct circuit, put the voltage meter in continuity mode. It is helpful to have a piece of wire with alligator clips on both ends. Attach one of your alligator clips to the positive wire on the pump, then attach the other alligator clip to one of your voltmeter leads. Holding the voltmeter, touch all of the positive wires on your panel. AS LONG AS there is not a break in the wire from the pump to the panel you will locate the correct line in the panel. If none of the wires show continuity, then you have to assume the wire is broken. At this point, I would take some spare wire, put a fuse in line in the wire, and wire from the panel directly to the pump to see if it comes on. If it does, you have a broken wire from the panel to the pump. You will have to run a new wire. That was long and I hope it helps!

Disconnect both ends of the wiring (breaker and pumps), join the wires at one end and test the other end with “ohms” on your meter. This will tell you if there’s a break in the wiring.

Lauren, if there is no voltage at the shower pump but there is voltage at the terminals in the fuse box, there must be a switch between so when you turn the shower on the pump starts. I dont know what systems they use on boats but it could be a flow switch, so when you turn the shower control on a little water flows then it operates a flow switch which starts the pump?
If the flow sswitch has failed you could rig a temp switch you turn on when you shower, it also could be a switch on the shower control knob? same applies you could rig a switch until you can get it fixed.
The freezer compressor will turn off when the temp in the freezer has dropped to what it is set to, so maybe the thermostat is faulty? Unless it cant get rid of the heat? you mentioned a fan.

It was not your skills in telling your story that were lacking, but watching you reach the breaking point. All the sunsets and underwater shots couldn't make me love this one. Doing a thorough prep on a friends old boat, before a 3-4 day race, we had rebuilt everything essential for round the clock racing. The binnacle compass lights were dead, so I picked up radical new red LEDs and replaced them. And still no light. It took hours to figure out some bozo had wired up the binnacle power with zip wire(extension cord wire) and dead behind the engine bay, bozo had simply twisted and tapes the wires. Once we found that, it took no time to fix them forever. But wtf twists wires on a boat?
The good news is that we also found a "secret antitheft switch" in another run of zip cord. Boats. You can't assume ANYTHING was ever done right.

Purchase a 12 volt test light and a 12volt tracer with two simple to use tools you can test and track down wiring issues quickly. If you have rebuildable pumps, have a spare impeller and pressure switch available. Other than that, get to Florida and once you've got your business taken care of kick back and just relax for a few days. It really does the soul good to shrug off our worries and get that centered focus back. I myself am just about to that same point. Sometimes we need to step away and let go. I have always found that wen I do this the solutions come much easier. As like most people we are always harder on ourselves than anyone else is, so give yourself a break. What you are doing is amazing, and you should never forget that. I hope you get your batteries charged while you are in Florida. Much love.

You definitely need a break,Mako need s one to. When you come back bring a battery jump box you can use it to test run pumps etc with a pair of jumper wires also to back ck wiring. And it will crank your engine if you get a good one. Enjoy the break I’ll be watching for you to return . God Bless. Mack in SC

Lauren, you’re young and have a whole life ahead of you. This breaking point will not be your last one. It are rimples in life we need to surf, so we can retrospective about the past and adjust for the future.
It will get you stronger, more connected to yourself.
Set your (sub)goals over a longer period of time and relax more in between.
Maby partner up for a while with someone you trust?
    Peace

Maybe someday we will cross paths. I am in Michigan, and I plan to sail from Michigan to Puerto Rico/Caribbean area! Not really excited about entering the Atlantic North of Nova Scotia, but that's the only path for me. Keep up the great work. Stay safe. I'm kinda new on your channel! New sub. I am probably 2 seasons from leaving from the Great Lakes.

I think it is amazing that you are out here sailing by yourself. You are a very brave young lady. I was just wondering how long is your sailboat. I have never tried sailing. It looks very complicated. But I’m sure it’s like anything else once you get to know it it comes easy. Anyways keep up the great videos. I enjoy watching them.and good luck with your shower pump. I’ve been having problems with my furnace in my motorhome and it is taking me about four weeks to fix the problem. But I think I finally got it. So don’t give up you’ll figure it out soon enough. Take care and good sailing.

I’m a bit older than you , more or less did the same thing at the same age as you in the 90’s . Ran charters on st Thomas long before you tube and Instagram . I’m having way more fun now skiing in Utah , great skiing every day coming home to a comfy condo and not having to fix a darn thing. mortgage on a brand new condo in salt lake is really not much more than owning and maintaining a 40 foot sailboat each month.
Good luck in your adventure !
