"And there was LIGHT!" Right out of Genesis. Jesus also is THE LIGHT! Glad you played the 12 String as I especially enjoy hearing your play the 12's. There is nothing else with the same sound as those Martins though. Great message Doyle. Your special home studio room cactus-shaped Christmas tree is really great! Safe travels and successful ministry and music.
Playing and preaching to 25.1K souls. Doyle you have kept your promise and are a huge blessing to us but much more importantly to him. I will continue to pray that the Lord uses you in a mighty way. God bless Brother ❤
JOY , J Jesus first , O others second , Y yourself last . From my stroke I find I didn't lose that . I am still playing guitar and watching Doyle. Have a merry Christmas Doyle.
Great job Doyle! Thanks for pulling out the Ovation 13 today - and for reminding us to pursue and experience JOY this time of year. Merry Christmas to you and your family. .
Talk about an evocative opening medley, to summon up 'Christmases Long Ago.' Surprising us with the oldest (German) of all carols, "O Christmas Tree" followed by all things English: Percy Grainger's "Country Gardens" and "Here we Come A'Wassailing" ("singing carols, door-to-door and wishing us 'Good Cheer') and some virtuoso licks on "Good King Wenceslas" / "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" ... with a little reprise - coda of "O Christmas Tree." So lovely. The tone of that old instrument you once owned: a "Dominus"? A 12-string un-amplified -- the tone of a harpsichord, or the earliest of keyboard instruments. Your musical knowledge is so vast. Thank you God for gifting us with Doyle Dykes, who reminds us, in word and song, that "The Joy of the Lord is our strength." Another wonderful Sunday String-Along!
"It's kinda cold up here" in Kelly's attic, says Doyle before performing on an old Martin the most beautiful solo guitar rendition of SILENT NIGHT I've ever heard. You too? Chet would tell you, "Doyle, you improved on mine. Really!" Pick it up at the "tune up" around the 10:33 mark.
Doyle, I just found your channel this week and I feel like I've hit the lottery.....only better much better! May God continue to use you and bless you and your family.
Thank you, Doyle for the Joy and Spirit of Chritmas and what the scriptures say about about it and the lights that we hang on our house and Chrstmas tree for Jesus, who is the truth the way and the life whom will always will be the light of the world, God bless you sir in what all you do. Love the Sunday sing alongs.
Amen! Always love the String-Alongs in "Kelly's Attic" (sounds like a good album title?😊). Thank you Doyle as always, for being joyous and sharing the good message. ❤
Hi Doyle God bless you brother. I had an Adamus 12string several years ago. It was a great guitar. See you in Chattanooga soon. Love what you do always.
Thank you Doyle for doing these videos. In the past I traveled to Edwardsville, Peoria , champagne in Illinois and St. Louis, Fazzios Frets and Friends, Rolla, and Springfield. I haven't been to one of your concerts or clinics in a few years. I don't think you have been in my area. So thank you brother for these videos. God Bless you and your family.
I get so much joy in watching and hearing your talent and messages! I'm amazed at the depth and girth of all that music that effortlessly exudes in your playing! God bless you and your family and enjoy this Christmas season as much as we enjoy your music!! You're a good man.
My first brush with "AI" . . . a moment ago, after hearing Doyle Dykes use an English term I'd never heard before, have you? It sounded like MULLIGRUBS. I guessed at the spelling after Mr. Dykes said (in his "Joy of Christmas" message that follows "Silent Night") that "Many people are mulligrubs over Christmas." "AI" (artificial intelligence) was 'first responder' to my question(s): "How's it spelled, and what's it mean?" "AI - No, the Mulligrubs have not died, but the term "mulligrubs" is defined as a mood of sullenness, despondency, or ill-temper." Who knew? Doyle -- and now, me and you.
I especially enjoyed the segment playing the Epiphone, maybe because I clearly remember those from the late 50s and 1960s when I was playing guitar. It sound3d great. Although you said “she” probably enjoyed, I thought from the spelling that Carroll was likely a male. Searching turned up a Carrol Flanagin born 1930 died January 2024 in Tyler (TX), so since you’re in Texas, maybe.
Hi Doyle, Another great video thanks for sharing. I won't be commenting on videos for a while. I'm still having problems with my hands and they are hurting more than before. I will be watching your videos from my TV but I will hold off on commenting until my hands get better and my sleep improves. God bless you and your family and your TH-cam Channel always.
Mr. Dykes, I first heard of you while doing research on the Godin Multiac SA nylon back in 2016. I saw a few of the demos you did with some very nice Godin instruments, but didn’t really know much more about you than what those demos showed me. Obviously, you’re an immensely gifted musician, but more than that, I like the intent behind why you play what you play. I don’t listen to many guitarists, but you are among the very few I do choose to listen to. Have a happy holiday season, sir. 🐰❤️🙏🎸🎶✌️
Hi Doyle. Liking your show today with the history of the Christmas Tree and lights; get history lesson on Christmas. Please play the Lords Prayer, your Moms favorite,. How can I get a lesson on your version😀. Would love to play it at church
I Always Remember Your Message at Christmas Time. About is Christmas a Blessing or a Burdon.? So when I get irritated with getting ready for the Holiday , I ask myself that Question and I have to not get Stressed. Thanks Doyle
Silent Night is so special because it was written for the guitar when the organ in the church was broken… Mice had chewed through the bellows? Maybe the details aren’t true but it’s a nice story!
Hi Doyle. Liking your show today with the history of the Christmas Tree and lights; get history lesson on Christmas. Please play the Lords Prayer, your Moms favorite,. How can I get a lesson on your version😀
I know you aren’t home on this one but with all the guitars you play on these videos it struck that you were telling the truth when you wrote “Guitar Poor”! Praying you and your family have a great Christmas season.
Nice picking on the Christmas tunes. When you are at home do you do anything in particular to keep your guitar’s humidified, especially in the winter months?
It's what's in your heart that matters in how you celebrate christmas. It may have originally been a " pagan" icon for the annual festival of light, when people took green trees inside to emphasise the continuation of life during the cold dark season, but I'm sure they also ate and drank, laughed and cried etc. So what if the church adopted the trappings of household customs of old and continued these into the christian era? It doesn't matter who did it first. Just because a satanist may have once drunk coffee, it doesn't mean thatt if you drink coffee you are a satanistif you do the same. Mu granparents were horrified one christmas after my brother snd I played snap with a deck of playing cards on a sunday. With respect to my dear Nana and Papa, this is superficial. Its whatever is in your heart that God cares about, not what someone did when the prevsiling custom was pagan in origin. The ordinary folk didn't care about such details of political religious or denominational thinking, it was just what they did from day to day. The intent of your heart is what matters. I once heard crticism of electric guitars being " of the devil". Such sweeping assumptions are judgements that God can make not other humsns out to see who is more pious than whom.
If not the greatest guitarist (which is possible), I submit that Doyle is the most versatile and godly.
"And there was LIGHT!" Right out of Genesis. Jesus also is THE LIGHT! Glad you played the 12 String as I especially enjoy hearing your play the 12's. @ Amen to that Brother
You’re a blessing
"Really enjoyed your playing on all those Christmas songs!!"
"Sing it, with me," says Doyle Dykes, gifting us with his calm and bright reprise of SILENT NIGHT -- not to be missed! Pick it up at the 33:33 mark.
JOY , J Jesus first , O others second , Y yourself last . From my stroke I find I didn't lose that . I am still playing guitar and watching Doyle. Have a merry Christmas Doyle.

Yes… give them a drink of water every once in a while.
You are this close 2 oklahoma come 2 duncan and see me
We went artificial after 40 years lol
HA! That’s okay as long as we celebrate right??
