Skeet played Ray beautifully. They were both good in this. Wow. My favorite scene was Ray’s joy that the baby was coming when he scooped her up and carried her into the house. Such joy.
I always wished they’d made a sequel to this movie. Such an inspiring story.

I never get tired of watching this. NEVER
What a gem of a movie. In this day and age traditional values are often mocked, but take a look at the deep happiness those values will bring for those who choose them. Spoiler alert: when Ray says to Livy "Someday you're gonna forgive yourself," Livy's eyes look up and begin to widen, because the possibility of love and happiness begins to dawn upon her. It's not so much that she has to take responsibility, (yes, there's that), but that she can accept forgiveness of a mistake, assimilate it, and continue to grow into love. The very next scene was no surprise to me. Happily. Enjoy this film!
this is one of the movies that I have most deeply enjoyed in my life! really represents the values that for me are immortal in humanity!

I think skeet Ulrich did a great job acting in this. So beautiful. Keri Russell was good also. Two really good actors.

This is my favorite love story and movie of all time. It genuinely moves me everytime I watch it. Beautiful love story!
I fell in love with this movie when it first aired, and I've watched it several times since. The two main actors are wonderful, and the story is charming, warm, and lovely. Recently, I was wishing I could see it but couldn't find it anywhere, so I bought the book instead. Can't wait to find out how closely the movie follows it. I also went to a online discussion recently, where people shared their favorite Hallmark movies, looking to see what they picked. Nobody mentioned The Magic of Ordinary Days but me. I gave it a rave review because it's my personal FAVORITE!

Keri was radiant in this movie. Women knew how to dress back then, feminine, classy, and beautiful. Same with men, we were gentlemen, sport coats and fedoras, and manners, imagine that.... No ball caps and hoodies, jeez, what happened.
I know,right! My grandmother would never have dreamt of popping to the corner store unkempt (she would never have imagined people schlep out in pyjamas with messy hair). Her shoes were polished, ditto handbag, perfectly clean and ironed frock, hair done up, dash of lipstick and powder. Spritz of Yardley’s lavender scent. Immaculate from the skin out, and with impeccable manners. Of course, she also endured the depression and two world wars and could make a cheap meal that tasted incredible with very little in the pantry. Impressive generation.
I love this movie! I've only seen it twice and it has been several years but now seeing this makes me want to watch it again and again ❤️

@@susivarga7303 It's called an arranged marriage which is known back in the olden days in some other cultures. When I said more movies like this, I mean the kind of movies that can capture someone's heart because of how genuine it is. 😊
@@wanderer7898 I know Skeet is hot, I feel you, but their "romance" was underwritten which is a shame. The movie had potential.
I'm not talking about other cultures btw but fyi with an arranged marriage both participants meet and consent.
The marriage portrayed in the movie is a forced one with the woman having no way out.

I loved this film, can't stop watching it and have ordered the DVD but Ray tells Livy that he loves her and I just wish she had told him the same before they kiss when he's holding the baby. Love it that the baby is named after the brother who died at Pearl Harbor.

What I didn't like about the movie is how she never feels physical attraction to him.
She's just there because he's great guy and will take the baby.
She does by the end.
The physical attraction is insinuated at the end of the film, however, the book makes it far more clear that she grows to find him very attractive in the end.
Wouldn’t be a great film without Skeet.
