I first caught them on Jo Whiley's Radio 1 show. I was one of the 120,000 that bought the first album the day it came out! Still one of my favourite albums today. Doesn't hurt that I'm from Sheffield and that accent sounds so good.

I think they're possibly the best band of my generation. They have it all; tight musicians (especially the drummer) and Alex Turner is one of the best lyricists I've ever heard, he's actually got bars like a rapper rather than just repeating catchy choruses

If you like the Arctic Monkey's, try the band "The Strokes"; "Last Nite", "Hard To Explain" or "The Modern Age" are good places to start. The were the band that greatly aided the rise of the post-punk revival genre in the 2000's.
Arctic Monkeys are fantastic, you can't go wrong with anything of theirs! Kasabian are a similar type of band but are brilliant in their own way, give them a go!

I met my husband because of the Arctic Monkeys. We worked in the same place in different departments and we got chatting at a work function one afternoon when he happened to mention that they’re his favourite band. I told him my you get sister had gone to uni in Sheffield where they lived and started up and had been to some of their early small gigs and been out with them and we talked for hours. He came to mine the following night to listen to some of their music and never left.

I think you would enjoy going down that rabbit hole. All their albums are amazing! Some of their songs are; Lonely Boy, Gold On The Ceiling, Everlasting Light, Ten Cent Pistol, Little Black Submarines, Howlin' For you.

Brianstorm, Crying Lightning, Arabella, my propulser, Fluorescent adolescent, pretty visitors, Teddy pickers, I bet you look good on the dancefloor, ond yellow bricks....give their discography a go, you won't be disappointed. Alex Turner is a great lyricist too
"I bet you look good on the dance floor" and "when the sun goes down" are absolute bangers. Especially considering the age of the guys when they were released. They were barely out of school. Check them out.
