Since Hawaii is such a popular tourist destination, it wouldn't surprise me if some of those high-end items were unclaimed items that were left behind in hotels.
@@marystrenke3050 i didn't think house keepers were allowed to take personal items left behind,, shouldn't they be returning that stuff to the owners, the hotel has all the needed contact information.
@jilliant.4550 I would assume it’s like most lost and found there is a time limit (in my experience 6months) on how long places hold on to things and then the person who found it gets offered it before it gets donated or thrown away
Interesting video! A little bit about cattle on Hawaii. “The first cattle, originating from California, were introduced by Capt. George Vancouver on his second trip in 1793.”
Wait, what? You didn't bring your sunglasses on a Hawaiian vacation?? Great job on finding shirts for yourself, Melissa! You know I love thrift store bargains! Big respect here. It was fun shopping with you in the lah-dee-dah Goodwill on Maui!. With love from BanDana Gramma ❤
We had a collection of 8 tracks donated to the library for our book sale. I sorted them out and found many Johnny Cash albums including one that was under the name John R Cash. I thought that was interesting. Ended up selling them all for $20 after my coworker picked a dozen or so out for her friend and I found a few gems for a friend of mine more for decoration than anything. It was a mix of country with a few rock and roll and pop thrown in. Was a lot of fun to sort through.
but Alex, were the records for sale or display only? I thought that bunny was adorbs! Loved the pig and cow wearing glasses. just the right amount of derp for me.
Love the rabbit! The last blouse Melissa held up is beautiful! She will wear that well. This was fun...I used to really enjoy going to thrift stores until my back got so bad I couldn't get out anymore. Glad you are having such a good time together. Treasure the memories.
Yes, good stuff compared to most Goodwill stores, I think the pandemic great clean out is over, people are back at work and spend their time commuting instead of cleaning out basements, attics and barns.😊
Good video. I also would have thought things would be more expensive. As you mentioned; getting things to the islands is expensive. We were there years ago and it was definitely more costly than the mainland. You have a nice family. Have fun!
Oh, Alex... It's a good thing you have so many friends on TH-cam who are helpful enough to educate you on the availability of shipping and mailing services. I would bet that you already know about such things, but significant numbers of people in these comments must think that these things are beyond your ken. 🙂
Room, shmoom. Buy what you like and pack it up to mail home on your last day. You'll get it in a few days. The Big Island cowboy is called a paniolo. They've ranched cattle there since the 1800s. They also used to ride steers, as in put a saddle on them.
That was fun, Alex. Thanks for sharing. Y’all seem to be having a great time. As you should be, I know I sure would be. I’m glad y’all made it back home safely. God bless & take care until next time.🙏🤗💗
They do have cows there, actually the mascot for Borden products is at the Honolulu zoo…Elsie…probably 4th or 5th generation but alive and kicking. I was a docent there.
My daughter has lived on Oahu fot 6+ years since her hubby is in the navy. She got a desiigner bag for $10 bucks and had it appraised at $2,800.00. It was from a navy personel only store. She tried to let store volunteer know it was real and not a fake but they wouldnt believe her. So my daughter has an expensive bag but paid less than whata knockoff would have cost. Btw i really like your videos.
I would love to go to Hawaii and find out about their healing practices can you see anything going on in your adventures enjoying watching the family vacation thanks for posting enjoy much love to you all
The expensive Fashion Brand purses and wallets, that could be from a hotel lost and found, where patrons left this behind with no identifiction inside.
I have several of those record albums that you were looking at! I think my Mama's and Papa's album shows the toilet, but it's in storage. now I'm curious!🙂👍
You are so fortunate that you were not caught in the fire that started after you left. Your vacation videos gives all of America a look at what was lost by thousands of people.
Alex, if you find something you absolutely cannot live without, you can always have it shipped home. It will surely be pricey going from Hawaii to Canada but if you really want it, it will be worth it.
No, shipping between the USA and Canada isn't much different than between here and a northern state near the Canadian city of destination. We're very used to getting packages from Canada, and it costs about what mailing to LA does. It's not like Hawaii is a strange foreign country. It's been the 50th state for most of a century.
@@hollyingraham3980 Yes I realize that Hawaii is the 50th state and has been for almost 70 years. But I live in Michigan (a northern state if there ever was one) and if I ship anything to Canada it is always pricey. But since I've never shipped anything to Hawaii maybe it's not that different after all as perhaps shipping things to/from Hawaii costs more? I've no idea honestly, I just assumed it would cost a lot since it costs so much to ship to Canada from Michigan.
When we travel and see things we like but don’t want to carry with us, we spend the $$ and ship them home. I have a beautiful hand blown glass piece because I wouldn’t leave it behind
They have a big cattle industry in Hawaii. Parker Ranch of Hawaii One of the largest cattle ranches in the United States is located in the north central region of the Big island of Hawaii. I was told they have to ship it to the mainland for processing tho.
Alex you need to get some shades, the eye Dr. told my mom years ago to wear sunglasses even when you go out to get the mail, according to him it protects your eyes from getting cataracts.
A pint! That's very nearly an armful. Tony Hancock, The blood donor, from the records you were looking at, UK comedy star from 50s and 60s, wonder how it got as far as Hawaii?
Yes well they have cowboys! Called paniolas.. I love watching your Hawaii series because I stayed in Lahina years ago and loved seeing glimpses of places I visited.. don’t know if it is possible to Canadá , but what we did with some excess baggage we had is we went to the post office and bought a couple of not very big prepaid shipping boxes and filled them with stuff that we weren’t really using and mailed them home… also usually you could pay extra for another checked bag on your flight going home or there is probably DHL or FEDEX or some other shipping company.. thoughts for next time , as you are probably home already if we are seeing this.
So glad Abigail got the stuffed bunny! Her expression was so sweet! She looks like her mom!! Love the show !
Your kids are so patient and mature, they seem to actually enjoy being with their parents. Well done Alex and Melissa!
Since Hawaii is such a popular tourist destination, it wouldn't surprise me if some of those high-end items were unclaimed items that were left behind in hotels.
My sister was a housekeeper at a high end motel and got some good stuff that was left behind 😊

Exactly! That's how it is at the hotel I work at too. As you know some people will leave the craziest things behind 😅.
Those are sold elsewhere
It`s so cool to watch your wonderful kids grow over the years, you`re such a lovely family!
Omg! I just loved watching this!!!! So fun! Thanks so much for sharing 😊 😀 ☺️ ❤️
Your children are so nice. Just like Mom and Dad. Enjoy you all so much.
Thank you for the fun trip to Goodwill, Hawaii version! ✌🏼☺️
Favorite thing to do on Vacation is to find thrift stores. Thanks for taking us
Interesting video! A little bit about cattle on Hawaii. “The first cattle, originating from California, were introduced by Capt. George Vancouver on his second trip in 1793.”

In St. Louis there is an affluent area called Ladue and people who don't live there call it, La-dee-do 😁
Thanks Folks, I'm really enjoying your holiday! ❤ XXX
And he got a real good Dad joke in there! "Stephen found his biggest fan!" made me yuckle!
Did you ever find out if the albums were for sale? I wanted to know what that album set in the brown box was! 😊

Alex, you're such a Dad - and I think it's charming!
You should also check out the thrift stores on U.S. military bases. They are open to everyone. Lots stuff from other countries.
Glad no one got a rubber chicken!! Flashback to a trip a couple years ago!!!!🤣🤣🤣
Glad I’m not the only one who hits thrift stores on vacation!
That was cool seeing a thrift shop in Hawaii . Some of the art work was really wild . Im surprised at the record selection . Keep Safe ❤Keep Well❤
Shouldn't be a surprise. There are and have always been thrift shops in Hawaii.
@@reginagibson3847 right not surprised at thrift shops but surprised at the records they had .It was cool seeing what a thrift shop is like in Hawaii
Dang! Jason has proceeded to tower over the rest of the family.
I don't blame Abigail for getting that bunny plushie.
I would totally get it too. Its so cuuuute

Lol, I’m watching Melissa walk down the aisle and I’m wearing a longer version of the dress she is wearing. Lol❤
Such a pretty dress !
At one time the island if Hawaii was the largest single cattle ranch in the US.
Still have it on the big island.
Abigail becoming a miniature of her mother is adorable.
She is so pretty too, just like Mom. Such a beautiful family
@@MsMaverika The dress really suits her, doesn't it? Very pretty indeed. And Melissa just as well.

Melissa posing with the coconut shells is hilarious. 😁😁
Alex, you already got lucky. You have a great wife and kids.
We had that projector in our grade school when I was little. I haven’t saw that since the 70s

Your daughter resembles her mom a LOT.
I'm glad to see Abigail got the cute floppy eared rabbit. Her own rabbit might like to cuddle up to it!
Nice kids you have there. ❤
Fun trip…nice picks…great Goodwill!
Hoping you are safely home. West Maui is currently having big fires through the main town and such. And the wind is fierce.
Didn't you get the records Alex? 😊

That Mamas and the Papas album was one of my first albums. Memories!
Were the records on sale or not? I need to know.......
I have to know, were the albums for sale? And if so why didn't you get a few?
I have heard that Goodwill has a separate on line store. To sell high end stuff. You can find some good stuff there
Nice coconuts 🌴 all you need now is a grass skirt

Alex, did you buy any albums?
When I'm on holidays I like to go to thrift stores and get a local coffee cup or t-shirt because it's less expensive that buying at a tourist shop.
Just FYI: the Parker Ranch on the Big Island is one of the largest cattle ranches in the US. 🤙🏻
