So first off this game was a gift from the animal, spirits, our ancestors to resolve quarrels without fighting physically. Some tribes do it for funerals. Either cash artwork, beading or anything worth of value is put into "the pot" the side singing has bones. One solid white stick and one white with a black stripe. They are usually the size of a bottle of nail polish. And they hide the sticks in thier hands, behind thier back, or under thier lap blanket and keep them hidden one in each hand. After the song the opposite side will have to guess which hand has the solid white bone. And if they guess right they gain 1 of 12 long sticks. And the objective is for one team to gain all 12 sticks to win the game and "the pot" of money or goods. Then the other side has the turn to hide the sticks and sing. Often this game can be played for hours and will go into early morning hours. Lots of partying and lots of fun! The game teaches many lessons, the biggest is patience, and team work.
It like volley ball. They serve. If you manage to guess which hand it stops their run. And it's your turn to score points. The longer your opponent sings, the more they are taking😂 once they all start singing, the pressure builds. As a kid i was ungrateful to see what my people have. We have good medicine. It heals people when we all get together to compete. Then others see it and wonder why do what we do. To compete. To win. But bring your people with you. Let's see who is more blessed out of us. It's not easy making money but we compete for it as well. You guys call it sports. For our sport, it's about who sees which the creator the favors the most by the games we play. My grandma always wondered why i played video games a lot but im out there to win too and represent my people.
Lol I was just a grandkid and my grandma seemed like a nice lady but when it came it to this, she represented. She looked like a lord sitting there. Honor and all. Miss her. I had to sit there wait until they was done talking. "Don't interrupt elders when they are speaking"...waiting to ask if I could "go home" but little did I know it was my home. "Hold on, I'm about to win" Then she would. She believed. I'd pass out on a pendleton listening to this all night. Wake up to it too. These games would last forever. But we went to Denny's after! Get the grand slam breakfast like Thomas from Smoke Signals. Where ever she is, I hope she is OK and knows I'm OK too
Looks interesting but cannot seem to understand how the game is played, can someone please discribe how to play it.
