- You don't know as much about Rocket League as you think you do and I'm going to prove it. Rocket League has tons of myths and I'm going to test them all with @WaytonPilkin to see if they are real or busted. This led me to find some insane facts about the game that are actually useful!

I would say that #2 isn't necessarily confirmed because your reaction times may have been slightly different so the distance is well within the margin of error.

To answer said boost is slightly more than twelve with a more technical explanation: this I believe is due to float point numbers being assigned and calculated by the cpu. Cpu has finite amount of resources available. And yet dividing 100/12 you yield an infinite 8.3333 with the 3 repeating so cpus use floating point numbers to calculate to the nearest representative state. At least this is my best guess.
It makes sense, I never thought about it that way, please teach me :) ahahah

For the myths where you drove on the ceiling, your partner had more boost both times and it's obvious by how much longer he was boosting and the fact you only had 81 boost to start

#6 Actually true, because you get teammates that are close to deranking but still in the rank youd get if you win (means they just have a rough time at that moment). BUT the opposing team is most of the time in the same situation which just results in a bad game. Every time in my case (even when i win in the end, its always a weird game)
You can also make the ball/puck too heavy to go in the hoops in custom games
For the duo queue one it will put you against a party that is similar spread but against soloq players they will both normally be at the higher players level but it will extend the search range lower rather than up the longer the queue takes... At least what I have seen playing with my Plat 3 friend as a c1

Some of these would be (extra) interesting with large sample size comparisons. Like do 200 matches alternating quiet vs. quickchatting a lot and look at points/goals/shots etc for you and your teammates.
But none of them would lead to fact considering quick chat doesn't change how the game plays, it's literally rng or pulled down to the smaller factor of maybe winning an extra game here and there because you made the opponent play trash or try to hard.
@@aestheticcorsa3377 while i disagree cause something as simple as confidence can affect how well you play, i will say it probably wont matter cause if he wins he would rank up meaning he gets harder opponets so no matter what he wll probably still get around 50%
I learned a lot today. I'm so glad that I'm 33 and Diamond I, which means everyone in the game younger than me is Platinum or less, including Wayton. If only he knew how to score an open goal.

The reason boosting while supersonic is faster is that supersonic is not max speed. theres a tiny bit of speed increase when you hit supersonic so you don't need to hold boost, but boosting for a second after going supersonic will result in faster speed (however negligible that speed is)
For choosing which side of the field you spawn on, here's my myth/theory. I've guessed a lot of spawns correctly depending on which side of the field you get demo'd on, but keep in mind there are 4 positions that you can spawn in. The first time, you were demo'd on the right, and spawned right. Then you were demo'd on the right and spawned right in the spot closer to the boost. Then you were demo'd on the right and spawn on the left. Then on the left again closer to the boost. If you number the spawns 1-4 we might see that pattern repeat. 1-Inside right, 2-outside right, 3-inside left, 4-outside left. There's kind of 2 theories there. In a normal game under random circumstances you spawn on the side of the field you were demo'd on, or were on miliseconds before. Then if you get spawn trapped, you follow the 1-4 method. I hope you followed that lol.

Myth: You can curve dash on curve from the wall to the ceiling, just like the curve from the wall to the ground.

Pretty sure you can demo someone backwards if someone runs into you to initiate the demo. Anytime a teammate runs into you and you demo someone else because of it it's pretty hilarious

myth 1 i can fully agree on. I am Champ 3 and play with my D3 friend in 2s. Every game we play is against two other champ 3s unless they are partied up. If they are partied up it seems like it might be more balanced with a champ 3 and a champ 1 or something. But if you are playing 2 randoms they will be the highest rank if not higher to balance it. I have ran into GCs while playing with a D3 and thats just dumb
I was literally in patch notes one update. Not sure how this even qualifies as a myth.

Heres one to try. Reverse supersonic can save you from being demo'd
I’ve demoed someone going backwards. My teammate bumped me into supersonic, and hit the opponent. That demoed him

For the “choosing side after demo” musty actually got it right 16 times in a row then realized it didn’t work so I wasn’t sure. Then when you got it 3 times In a row I thought it actually worked lol

The demo backwards is possible but only if you also backflip like some lower ranks like in gold do as the nose will face the direction your going and thereby make the demo possible. I've done it a few times myself and it only works if your nose while going and flipping backwards are facing the opponent when impact occurs

the spawn myth works like this, u will spawn in the place where either is the big boost or where there's no one close to you
Boost is actually 0-255 it just displays as 0-100 so it has to deal with the rounding. Tldr coding is weird

The age one actually kind of makes sense. While it may not be 100% true, usually kids under 13 don't have quite as much time to play, or their parents don't let them. Once you get to teen and college ages you start doing like whatever you want, and in your 20's living away from your childhood home. This makes it so that they can practice more, and because of that they get better.

How the matchmaking works is simple, if you are in a party with a lower-ranked player the matchmaker will prioritize other parties that has a player around you're mmr and one with a lower one. If the game doesn't find a party that is suitable, it will put you in a game with two players that are on you're mmr.

The air roll one striped had less boost at the start at 81
When partying with players of different ranks there is a higher chance that you are put up against teams of similar composition.
For example, if there is a gold and a diamond playing 2v2 there is a higher chance that their opponents will also be a mixed ranked team.

Only if you are positive, of course. Boosting the confidence of your teammates when they do good saves or shots actually makes a difference.

Aerial Faster by holding acclerate is a thing. Line your front wheels up on straight line on the field. Sit stil and jump and THEN hold accelerate once you are in the air. Your car will move forward.
The small margin of boosting while supersonic is 100% the margin that was made by human error. Its near impossible to make you two start at the EXACT same time.

11:09 I think age is a factor to be better, because up untill 20s your brain is still developing, so it is like a line that starts in 0 when you are 0 years old, and as years go on, the line will go up as your brain develops, then after you turn 20 it will slowly start going down as your brain starts lowering it's capabilities of couse some people's skill lines at 10 years old will be higher than other 10 years old skill lines, so it is a factor that does not define your skill but has some effects on it. thats how I see it :)

Actually I have already seen evidence on dozens of occasions that your ranked teammates AND opponents are not chosen by mmr but rather superseded by similarities in usernames. For instance if I have a username that's a fruit like "banana" I will end up with someone on the field who has the name of another food like "bread" maker. This proves true with names of famous people, ideology, geological places etc. And yes, when you are about to rank up a tier you are placed with a mate that is on a losing streak or has lower mmr than you and the opponents. You can confirm this in TRN.

Fall faster with nose pointed down: Not technically correct (Even after their correction). This only holds true if you are holding the accelerator while pointing down. If you have your nose pointing up and hold the reverse, you would fall just as fast or close to it. I can't say for certain that the acceleration forwards and in reverse have the same strength while in the air.
You can observe this the same way the video shows the player moving forward while horizontal. Try it in reverse and be amazed.

Striped I have done a flip reset on the ice puck before which led to me getting a very strong redirect which made me score.
another custom mode to score: heaviest ball highest gravity largest size ball in hoops. Since the ball is too heavy to get high enough to go in.

for #9 we should have said "when you hold backward in the air you go slower than if you hold forward" I know that is true --> stay on the groud at the same spot, one jump and go forward the other moves backwards and see the difference between the 2 landing spots
4:53 striped says you move quicker in the air based on where your nose is pointed. Then shows a rocket science video proving it. Then the next myth is about moving quicker in the air if you hold accelerate and says it's false... What? You do move quicker in the air if you hold accelerate, you proved it already, but you and wayton where both boosting to start and were supersonic/top speed so you landed pretty much next to each other because you couldn't go any faster

you can get demo'd when driving backwards, it happened to me when playing today
The scarab does not sit still on kickoffs and I believe there is a weird Dead zone in the front of the car you cannot get as much power front flipping into balls
"Close to ranking up = worse teammates" is physically impossible to prove since every player plays at a different skill level even if they're the exact same rank in the game.

1:25 But how do you have the super-sonic trail behind the car while deaccalerating, I dont think seeing it means your at exactly super-sonic speed. because the car deaccalerates when you stop boosting.
Some of these coulda used more experimentation. Like I'm 25 and only plat where there's a kid that's GC. The goalie myth has to be true because even if you block all their goals the game goes into that tie breaker time based on who has more shots on goal

You can FLIP RESET off of other cars. I have done them before and used the flip as a wavedash for recovery

you actually can make a gamemode where its impossible to score, in hoops set the gravity to super high and ball weight to super heavy, you can never hit the ball high enough to score
It IS possible to do it like that (9:13), but only by getting supersonic by doing blackflips.

the first myth is actually true, only because they matched against a partied team the results were hard to calculate but matchmaking is always based on the highest player from experience.
No it's not, if you use bakksmod the mmr is usually the same unless they can't find players that are the same mmr as your team

Already confirmed. Some maps have (have had? Idk if rocket league fixed it) weird corners where the bounces will be different for some maps. The corner would be steeper and stuff.
fun fact before f2p it was the mmrs combined and shared so a c1 and a gc would make it high c2s
