Wasn't 10 second penalty for Verstappen and 5 second for Norris? Verstappen was pushed on gras in Spain as well. People cry about this collision and F1 latterly posted a 1 hour video peppered with moves like Verstappen. Talking about hypocrisy at high level.🤣
Dude... This is a bit late... Especially given a overshadowing event has already occurred on the day of its posting. Either yeet the vjdso, or release it later as "a look back [x]". Could play into the entire "perspective" tag
I understand that you're not giving it 100% on TH-cam anymore, in spite of having gone into semantics to say that when you are on TH-cam you are at 100% but you're also not at TH-cam full time so it can't be a 100%... The point: it shows. This video is good, but it comes so late and literally as the next GP had ended, that at best it's out of touch and at worst it can be interpreted by some people as provocative. I'm just a random in my room typing out my thoughts on matters I have no experience on, but I think timing the video better would be more beneficial to you than making a movie too late for it to be relevant, in fact so late it might be offensive. Tommo and P1 don't make snazzy movies and they're more popular by virtue of being on time.
I find it interesting that driver like Senna and Michael get praised for this type of aggressive, elbows out driving, but Verstappen is public enemy #1 whenever he does it.
If Lando would have let Max’s tyres fail he would have overtook him in a few laps. Also, Max doesn’t turn under breaking, he cocks the wheel, then he applies the brakes, he’s too crafty to turn under breaking.
I’m super late here but I feel like I need to point out that other drivers should not race max differently because he is more willing than most to risk a crash. They need to accept that they may have an accident and go for the pass just the same as they would with anyone else. For one thing, it’s a lot simpler for the stewards to penalize a driver for a crash than a move that could have caused a crash if the other driver hadn’t seen it coming. Far more importantly, you can’t let yourself get bullied out there. If you give ground when you’re not required to, other drivers will take note and use it to their advantage. Unless there’s some reason that you have more to lose, a crash is just as bad for the other driver as it is for you. If they want to take that risk, it’s as much on you as it is on the stewards to make sure that it doesn’t pay off. Obviously, it’s important to be safe and polite on track, but for the most part the rules exist to define what your responsibilities are on the track. Every situation is different and drivers should adjust their dispositions accordingly, but if you’re in a title battle with another driver you should absolutely not decide to race them more carefully because they’re aggressive. That’s basically handing them the championship in my opinion. I also want to point out that this isn’t an anti-Verstappen opinion. If he has benefited from his “bad” reputation then more power to him. I just want to say that Norris made the correct choice not to move further left to avoid a collision because now Max will have to think twice before trying the same thing on him
Personally people that atleast try to analyse the content is probably better than a bunch of people screaming at each other. That's discussion, and analysis from the community, with what we have available and with the limitations of a few rules we know. I don't see why this is a problem, it's fun, and interesting, it keeps it alive. Neither do i understand why the complaints about it being their for over a week, people will talk about Hamilton winning for over a week as well. I agree on having to stay away just cause people have such strong opinions, but im okay with it, it's interesting seeing people discuss these things, it keeps it alive for me, and it's not like you don't have you're own opinions on the crash, humans are wired to point fingers, you simply just choose to not talk about it, however you complain about others having it, which defeats the purpose of not voicing it, cause you're still actively engaged with the topic, and now a week later launch a video about it, rekindling what happen a while ago, again engagement. Everyone complains about something as you complain about them, so maybe it's just what it is
The Verstappen fan cope in the comments is real. Max was clearly desperate to keep Lando behind him and made some, at the very least, dodgy defensive moves. Max is a great driver and a fierce competitor, but he resorts to Senna-esque tactics when pushed. And while some would call that good hard racing, the fact is that Senna got away with it because the rules were different back then. It's up to personal preference in judging whether you think such tactics are dirty or not( for sure, some of the stuff that Senna did was indeed dirty). But people tend to view him differently because those were different times. This is not meant to disparage Max, either. On the contrary, comparing him to Senna is a major compliment. And while Max was at fault for causing the collision, I'd equally blame the stewards for not even giving Max a warning after several moves within the braking zone. Max actually did what every driver _should_ do: push the rules for as long as you can get away with it. The stewards decided, for whatever reason, that they were fine with Max' driving and so they let him continue doing it. The crash was as much their fault as it was Max'. I think it highlights a more important issue: there should be permanent stewards. No matter what the sport, it's extremely frustrating when officiating is inconsistent, and F1 has had a clear problem with this for decades now. I actually like the hard racing and I want to see drivers take risks, but if we're going to have rules, then they need to be enforced consistently. And I agree, they should bring back drive-through penalties.
Dude it was hard racing and Max is a very defensive driver. He has the spotlight on him at all times and he’s unfairly criticized for his racing. What’s more lame than saying Max was out of line is overreacting to almost everything he does. The move wasn’t blatant at all. Probably didn’t even deserve a penalty. His moving under braking was textbook, he just stayed on the line of too late or just a fraction late which won’t be enough to trigger a stewards penalty. It was exceptional defense and Peter Windsor, who is just another F1 opinion has stated the same. It’s the overreaction to whatever he does because he has a past of fierce aggressive driving. But Leclerc and Sainz, Perez and Hamilton, Russell just off the bat I can think of are more aggressive and have had more run ins the last 3 years since Max took on Lewis.
